COVER REVEAL: Twisted Desire by Christa Simpson
Title: Twisted Desire
Author: Christa Simpson
Release Date: July 19, 2014
Series: Book #4 in the Twisted Series (stand-alone)
Genre: New Adult Romance/Romantic Suspense
(18+ due to graphic scenes involving sex, violence
and vulgar language that may be offensive to some readers)
Synopsis:
Find the girl… Trick the girl… Collect the reward. His plan was foolproof.
Strong, seductive and sexy as hell. Harley Gates is all those things. He’s a renowned PI who rides above the law, because he’s worth more to the cops on the front line than in a jail cell. When a new client puts him on the task of tracking down her boyfriend’s so-called mistress, the size of the pay check says he’s going to do it, no matter the cost. The plan is foolproof. Find the girl. Trick the girl. Collect the reward. But Miss Aliah Brooklin is no fool.
She’s as feisty as they come, provoking him with every lick of her lips. But Aliah Brooklin isn’t ready to turn in her glass slippers just yet. Being once burned, twice shy, she’s careful to guard her heart. No man means no problems. She knows this. But this motorcycle man who calls himself Harley has her swooning like a fairy tale princess. She knows something’s not quite right with him, but their chemistry alone has her surrendering to his wiles.
Is Aliah doomed to a life without love? That’s what she keeps telling herself. But tattooed sexy sure throws a kink in her plans. If no love means no heart break, then why does this man have her heart tearing at the seams? When Harley’s investigation flips to a new mystery, he’s forced to tell her the truth. A vicious twist will change everything. Note: This book is part of the Twisted series, coming after the Twisted Trilogy, however it can be enjoyed as a stand-alone (with spoilers from the first three books, of course).

Excerpt:
She pulls the hair tie from her high pony and shakes it out, until long waves of silky hair are framing her face and dangling down to the curve of her lower back. Her hair whispers across the bareness of her skin, like chocolate silk.
“So, is that a yes?” He’s not below begging at this point, if she is to say no.
“Yes to what? I recall that you asked what I was doing later. Was I supposed to assume that you meant you’d like to keep me busy?”
“I would like that. Very much.”
“I’m sure you would. Unfortunately, I’m busy. Maybe next time. But not likely,” she mumbles under her breath, as her voice trails off.
“Are you too good for me? Just say it, if that’s it.” His words stop her in her tracks.
She spins back around and props a hand on a flawless hip. “Do I look good to you?”
She looks bad. Very, very bad. Her sassy mouth and bad attitude are really turning him on something fierce. He wants to spank her.
“Good isn’t the word I would use.” His eyes violate her entire body.
He reaches out and pulls a single strand of hair from between her lips, then dusts a kiss there, in stark contrast to the loaded machine gun he’s packing in his pants.
He can see that she’s flustered. He’s getting to her. Little miss Aliah isn’t quite as hard as she lets on. He, on the other hand, is as hard as he can possibly get.
“You make me feel…” She huffs, not even knowing how to fill in her own sentence.
“Wow. So she does feel.”
Aliah narrows her eyes, but quickly replaces that look with a smile. “Yes. I only play the heartless bitch.”
He watches her fidget with her necklace, then closes his hand over hers to stop her. “You’re a good actress.”
She shoves him backward, taking what he says the wrong way. “Get away from me.” Though she tries to put some distance between them, her attempt at moving him is wildly unsuccessful.
He catches her wrist, worried he’s pushed her a little too hard. With Aliah, there seems to be a fine line between O-K and F-U.
“I’m sorry…” he starts, but is cut off by Aliah’s pleased cackle.
“I am pretty good, eh? I certainly had you.”
He couldn’t believe he had fallen for her act. “I feel like I have to tread carefully with you. Should I ask for permission before saying anything offensive?”
“Hah! Where would the fun be in that? It’s all good. I’m sure I can handle you in real time.”
“Is that right?”
Her hesitation is sweet, but the smug expression that swipes across her face makes him want to collect her hands behind her back to restrain her, while he moulds her soft curves to his hard edges.
Would she respond to him?
He moves his face very near hers and growls. “You only think you could handle me.”
She doesn’t back away. “No. I can handle you.”
His body twitches at her bold statement, only leaving him to egg her on. He wants to taste her, when he inhales the sweet nectar inviting him to her skin.
His breath rushes over her ear. “Prove it.”
He thinks she’ll retreat, but then he feels her silky hands discovering the inside of his leather jacket.
“I plan to.” Copyright 2014 Christa Simpson

Blog Hop: My Writing Process
When I was asked to join in the MY WRITING PROCESS blog tour by two fellow authors, how could I say no?! Thanks to Jennifer Ammoscato http://jenniferammoscato.com/blog and Gabbie S. Duran http://gabbiesduran.com for including me. Two fabulous authors right there, with very different writing styles. You should give them each a look, whether you’re into a witty dose of chick-lit or a heart-wrenching romance, they’ve got you covered.
My Writing Process
I’m told I have to answer four specific questions. And I will. But, since Jennifer broke the rules, I figure it’s okay for me to have a free-for-all too. Rather than list the question and follow it with an answer (boorring), I’m just going to have at it. Here goes!
ORGANIZED CHAOS!!!

That’s me. I keep an overall storyline in mind and go hog-wild with it. Let me share a couple of photos with you, which will help you to better understand my madness. The first image to the right is my electronic notebook. Those are just the stories I have hard core ideas for. Those stories must happen. That’s proof right there why it takes me so long to finish anything! And that’s not even the whole of it.
I’m constantly jotting down notes. When a thought comes into my mind, I mentally catalogue it into a story I have in the works. Keep in mind I use the term jot lightly. Most of my notes are written in a fit of inspiration, in a scrawl that even I have a hard time later deciphering. Those notes eventually get entered into my electronic notebook with a mess of other notes under its working book title. In each book tab you’ll find images, quotes, songs… anything that reminds me of my story or inspires me to write more. I won’t come back and organize that file until I’m ready to give it some form and prepare it for writing in MS Word.
You’ve Been Promoted
Now… onto when the story finally gets promoted, like TWISTED DESIRE has been most recently. I take all of those notes I’d been taking and break them down, naming each chapter to relate it to the scene therein. If the story has two perspectives, I try to give each character their fair share of the spotlight. “HIS” means from Harley’s perspective and “HER” means from Aliah’s. This is my way of sorting through the craziness that is my mind.
Just so you know, you should feel special right now. I haven’t shared this chapter breakdown with anyone, not even my street team! When I read those headings, I know exactly what happens in that chapter. Not that you care, but the chapter heading “Incinerated” was originally “Incinerated Panties” until my daughter mis-read it out loud. “Mom, what does IN-KIN-ERATED PANTIES mean?” I instantly removed “panties” so I wouldn’t have to dance around that topic with her again. Yeah. She’s turning nine next week.
Why are my stories different than others in the new adult genre?
I think I have a very unique voice and an easy going writing style that allows readers to connect easily to my characters. My ideas are my own, wholly created from events I’ve witnessed or imagined, with a whack of fiction weaved in there for flavour. My stories contain unbelievably amazing alpha men that make you swoon and sassy heroines who give them a run for their money. Let’s be real for a minute. My hubby has his moments, but he can’t keep that shit up… not like my Eddie in the Twisted Trilogy. ;)
R-Rated
Sorry in advance. I find myself swearing a lot and I apologize for that. Not very classy. But I’ve been writing Aliah’s story, and to be frank she’s a sassy b**ch. Harley swings back equally as hard (with his words), and I’m finding it hard to break out of that Rated-R writing style. I’d be lying if I didn’t admit it’s kinda fun. :D
I write what I like to read.
I started writing, in fact, because I was angry how the romances I was reading were ending (then I wrote Twisted, HAH!, with a cliffhanger and a love triangle) Brilliant, Christa. Sheer genius. I now understand how those stories happened. Hunger Games. Grrrr. Your characters make you do it!
Honestly though, I enjoy a good romantic suspense with a strong alpha hero and a confident, sassy heroine. While I write strictly contemporary romances, I love reading historical, westerns and paranormal romances as well.
I think I’ve covered all bases of MY WRITING PROCESS, so let me tell you about a couple of ladies who are up next on the tour.

Is a romance just a romance?
There’s nothing worse than really getting into a story only to learn that it wasn’t the first book in the series. Of course, since you love it so much, you’re bound and determined to read the first book and so you buy it and it’s okay. But I’m sorry to say, it’s just not the same. Especially in romances. It stands true for me to this day. I’ve picked up book number two in a series on a number of occasions and to date I’ve loved the second more than the first.
I don’t know what it is, and maybe it’s just me, but I seem to fall in love with characters in a sequence, just the way the author intends for me to. By already reading the first set of characters in the next book, I’m already privy to the dynamic of their relationship and I think it steals the nostalgia of their first meeting. The respect for their journey seems to get lost somewhere along the way, since I already know what the end result will be.
Now, I know that a romance is a romance, and you think you know the ending already, since it’s always a HEA if done properly. But there’s always that niggling chance that the author might pull a fast one on you (C.S. Janey) and kill off the heroine’s love interest in exchange for the guy who nurses her back to happiness. That pesky fear is all that’s needed to keep me turning the pages to completion.
What’s your take on series these days?
Do you wish that authors would tell you what book number each title is? Or are you content to take your chance on a standalone story mid-series?
For the record, TWISTED is the first book in the Twisted Trilogy. You can check out this sassy, new adult romance today and get book one for only $0.99! What a deal, right?! So what are you waiting for?? http://viewBook.at/Twisted

The Teaser You’ve All Been Waiting For!!
Here’s what I’ve been working on. JUST RIGHT, Book 4 in the Twisted Series. (Subject to change.)
TEASER:
This is Aliah we’re talking here, from Harley’s perspective…

She pulls the hair tie from her high pony and shakes it out, until long waves of silky hair are framing her face and dangling down to the curve of her lower back. Her hair whispers across the bareness of her skin, like chocolate silk.
“So, is that a yes?” He’s not below begging at this point, if she is to say no.

“I would like that. Very much.”

No. She looks bad. Very, very bad. Her bad attitude and dirty mouth were really turning him on something fierce. He wants to spank her.

Okay, I’m going to end it there… short and sweet. That last line, I think, is my favourite so far. ;) Hope you enjoyed it!

What’s next for me?
Okay, I give up. Apparently WordPress doesn’t want me to write to you at this hour, because it has officially not saved three versions of this one blog post. Annoying!! And my first two posts were really good too. I’m not trying again. Funny, this dumb post saved just fine. Since I’m not going to dwell on it, here goes. Twisted is in print. Woot!! Look at the box of pretties I received today!! $12 USD plus shipping for an autographed copy. Payment will be accepted via PayPal. I hope to get some sort of PayPal button or something soon, but until then you can reach me via Facebook message, Twitter, or by commenting on this post with your email address.
Twist and Turn is in the proofing process and I’m hoping to have it approved for print in a matter of weeks too!
Oh, right. I wanted to tell you that I’ve been hanging out on Google+ more and more lately, and there are nothing but good vibes going on over there. Join me? If you haven’t already added my author page to your circles, please do so! Here’s my personal one if you want to be my friend. :D http://plus.google.com/+christasimpson
So… what’s next for me, huh? You’ll be happy to hear I’ve finally sat down to edit book four in the Twisted series, JUST RIGHT, and man am I excited to share another excerpt with you!! No more procrastinating! It’s coming soon. Promise. :)
Harley is one sexy dude who rides a motorcycle and drives Aliah wild. Aliah, if you remember her from The Twisted Trilogy, is not about to sit back and take any shit from him. These two make fireworks together, believe you me. Teaser to come.
Till then, hugs!!
