Final pass pages before SET FIRE TO THE GODS is a real live book!! To celebrate, here’s one of my favorite scenes from my girl Ash’s POV - she and Madoc are dancing and she’s supposed to be focusing on a Mission but he’s just…so…pretty. Also she loves dancing.

One of the best things about this year by far was selling SET FIRE TO THE GODS with @kris10writes. We’d been working on this book for so many years that it’d started to feel like a lost project - and then, joy.
Here’s to you all getting to read it in 2020. Here’s to more joy.

Well that’s not a fire.
Some of you may remember the puppy I had for all of three days earlier this year. We ended up giving her back because having an 8 wk old puppy + a 2 yr old human was unfair to both of them (lots of biting and crying and yelping).
Fast forward a few months, and I fell in love with one of the pups I walked at the shelter. But I knew the last dog hadn’t gone well, so I didn’t want to post any pics until I was sure. Well, that dog was amazing… except with our cat. Whom he tried to eat. Twice. And it was horrible and terrifying and involved us tackling the dog to let our cat get to safety. Ultimately, we decided to return the dog to the shelter, but with a glowing review of all his good qualities and specific instructions that he not be with kitties. He got adopted to his furever home within a week.
Another few months passed. I was still hoping to find the pup for our family. One who could keep up with my toddler. One who not only tolerated cats but didn’t even seem to know they existed. We looked through shelters and rescues, but none of the dogs or organizations felt like The One.
Until I found @queencitybulldogrescue. I instantly fell in love with their site and presence, and thanks to my time at the shelter, I am mad in love with the dopey, smushed-face, love-you-with-their-whole-bodies fifty+ pound lap dogs that are the bully breeds. I’d applied for a few pups through QCBR, but they’re masters of human/dog matching, and it wasn’t until recently that they contacted me to tell me about Mabel.
Suffice to say we’re all in love with this derpy delightful little girl who wiggles her whole body when she’s excited and blissfully does not give two figs about our cat (who is adjusting very well to her because of that!). We’ve taken to calling her Maze, because for some reason neither my husband nor I could remember “Mabel”?? I don’t know why. But we’re obsessed with the show Lucifer and you better believe I sometimes call her Mazikeen.
