Tuesday’s Treats is a weekly blog post dedicated to the soon to be released books that I’m most excited for.
(Books are in no particular order.)All books featured this week will be released: OCTOBER 13th
1. Black Widow: Forever Red by: Margaret Stohl (goodreads, book depository) (review to come)
Yes, you read right; a Black Widow book is finally available! Told in three POVs - Ava, Alex, and Natasha - Black Widow: Forever Red devles into the mind of Black Widow and opens a door to her oh-so-secret past, with Ava and Alex caught and tangled in her web. This book reads like an episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. and features a cameo from a fan favorite Avenger; action packed, funny, and just plain awesome. It’s a must read for any Avengers or Marvel fan.
YA Action/Adventure; Marvel Press, Hardcover (US)2. Ice Like Fire (Snow Like Ashes Series: 2) by: Sara Raasch (goodreads, book depository)
After finishing Snow Like Ashes earlier this year, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this sequel. Set three months after the conclusion of SLA, Meira struggles with trying to keep the people of Winter safe. When something dangerous is unearthed after years of being missing, the foundation of Meira’s world may not be as stable as she wishes. With Theron, Mather, and Meira fighting for three different things, this book promises to be as exciting and entertaining as SLA.
YA High Fantasy; Balzer + Bray, Hardcover (US)3. The Rose Society (The Young Elites Series: 2) by: Marie Lu (goodreads, book depository)
In all honesty, I have not read The Young Elites YET. However, that will not stop me from picking up the highly anticipated sequel The Rose Society. (I also don’t want to spoil myself for TYE, so I won’t be putting a synopsis here. Sorry :/).
YA Fantasy; Putnam/Penguin, Hardcover (US)4. Truly Madly Famously (Famous in Love Series: 2) by: Rebecca Serle (goodreads, book depository) (review to come)
Sequel to Serle’s Famous in Love, Truly Madly Famously continues the story of Paige Townsen and her ascent into the world of fame and celebrity. Torn between two guys and by the tabloids, Paige struggles with finding who to trust with her secrets, and who to trust with her heart.
Contemporary Young Adult; Poppy, Hardcover (US)5. First & Then by: Emma Mills (goodreads, book depository)
Marketed as a cross between Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice and Friday Night Lights this YA contemporary by Mills shows promise to be a great YA romance about falling in love with someone you least expected, your family, and - most importantly - yourself.
YA Contemporary Fiction; Henry Holt and Co. (BYR), Hardcover (US)6. City on Fire by: Garth Risk Hallberg (goodreads, book depository)
The only adult novel on this week’s list, but it is not a book to be messed with. This massive over 900 page tome follows the entangled lives of eight people in New York City during 1977, culminating in the summer’s city-wide blackout. With the promise of suspense and great characters, I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of this monster.
Adult Contemporary Fiction; Knopf, Hardcover (US)
