Uncovering You 5... has been delayed (sorry!)

Hey Everyone,

So crappy news.  It looks like I bit off a bit more than I can chew.  I won't make the June 20th release date for Uncovering You 5.  I will only be able to finish it for June 30th, 2014.

I need the ten extra days because of the increased length.  I know you're all waiting anxiously for it, and this is pretty bad news, but I really want to give you guys an awesome book.  Hence the extra time.  It's not much longer, and I've been working really, really hard each day to try to make the original deadline... but five days out, I think I can finally say that I'm not going to make it.

I was holding off making the announcement for as long as I could because I thought there'd be a chance I could make it.  

Anyway.  You can bitch at me in the comments.  Sorry for letting you down :(

(it's also available on all the other Amazon domains) It's probably my favorite book of the entire series.  We get to see another side of Stonehart, Lilly gets some more freedoms, and yet the situation becomes even more desperate and confusing.  

There are glimmers of hope, though.  There is a light at the end of the tunnel!  Read closely to catch all the hints and foreshadowing that I threw in, and then go to my facebook or GR to leave your theories and reviews. I absolutely loved reading your ideas about Lilly and Stonehart's relationship, their as-of-yet unexplained past, and the reason why he chose her. By the way... for anybody who hasn't seen the previous announcement on my blog... I wanted to say that I've been listening to your feedback and will make all the books from here on out much, much longer.

The first three were around 125 printed pages.  Uncovering You 4 is 150 or so.  Uncovering You 5 and 6 are going to be 200+.

Longer Sequels!

All right guys, I told you I read all the reviews and you've made your opinion loud and clear: you want longer books.

I'm going to deliver. I've already written UY4, and it's the longest of the bunch by a big margin.  But UY5 is going to be even longer.

How much longer?  At least 50 percent! And the price won't go up, either, so you'll just be getting more book for your buck.

The downside to doing that is that releases will take me a little bit more time. I'm going to have to push sequels back to once every 30 days instead of 20 days. I'll still *try* to write them faster, of course, so sometimes it might be less than that, but I think 30 days is a very do-able estimate for me.

So there you have it.  Starting with book 5 and on, they will each be 50% or more longer than any of the first three books.

Next, I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate all your amazing feedback for the first book. I read every single review you posted, and each one helped guide my writing. Reader feedback is essential for me, as a story-teller, to best understand what parts of my writing you enjoyed the most, so that I can give you more of that in the future.

Unfortunately, there was a huge catastrophe with Uncovering You 1: The Contract. For the week leading up to the release of this book, Uncovering You 1 was taken off-sale from Amazon because of an issue with the cover. It displayed too much nudity. Without a warning or a heads-up, Uncovering You 1 vanished from the kindle store.

This had a debilitating effect on the series. Whereas before there was good momentum and awareness and hype about the books, all of that just... died. Nobody saw the first book, so nobody bought it, and thus nobody was talking about it. You can’t maintain excitement for something that doesn’t exist.

I tried to stay positive. After a hugely hectic week, I managed to figure out what was going on, change the cover, re-upload the book, and have it (finally) reappear on sale again. This only resolved itself yesterday (April 19th, 2014).

But after missing for a week, Uncovering You 1 is dead in the water. I’ve heard from many of you that you found the first book from Amazon’s recommendation system. That type of discoverability is only given to books with sales momentum.. and it was cut off at the knees when Uncovering You 1 was pulled from the store. All the amazing energy that you helped build with your passionate reviews and discussion was killed prematurely.

So this is my very earnest plea to you: If you enjoyed Uncovering You 1... please help me spread the word again. Heck, you can even reserve judgment until you’ve finished Uncovering You 2. If you hate it, forget this little note. But if the story captivates you, if it excites you, if it makes you want to throw your kindle across the room and cut off a certain character’s ball-sack... then your support would mean the world to me.

Anything you can do to let new readers know about the series would be such a blessing. Simple things help. If you have a Goodreads account, recommend the books (both 1 and 2 – but especially 1) to your friends. An email to your sister, mother, cousin, grandma (well.. maybe not your grandma) will do. Send them the link to Uncovering You 1. It’s just $0.99, and I’m going to keep it that price forever. A quick message like “Hey, I thought you might enjoy this series” is all that it takes.

If you follow any book bloggers, ask them to post about Uncovering You. Recommend the books to them. Tell them that I am giving out free review copies of the books if they email me (scarlett@scarlettedwards.com). Make a post about Uncovering You on Facebook. Encourage your friends to read it so they can discuss it with you. Talk about it on Twitter. Do whatever else you can think of that might help revive Uncovering You 1 from the grave.

Of course, I’m not going to ask you to do all this from the goodness of your heart. If you do anything to help me spread the word – and I mean literally anything, even messaging one new reader about Uncovering You 1 is amazing – just email me and mention what you did. In return, I’ll send you a copy of Uncovering You #3 ahead of its release day. For free. And, in all likelihood, I’ll probably end up giving you the rest of the books in the series ahead of time, as well.

Uncovering You... sequels every 20 days!

I get lots of questions about this, so I wanted to let everybody know that books in the Uncovering You series will be released every 20 days.  Here's what the schedule looks like at the moment:

Uncovering You 1: The Contract -   March 27, 2014 (Already released!!)
 
Uncovering You 2: Submission-      Apr 20, 2014

Uncovering You 3 -    May 10, 2014

Uncovering You 4 -    May 30, 2014

Uncovering You 5 -     June 20, 2014

..and so on, and so forth.  I'm not exactly sure how many books there'll be at the moment.  It will really depend on how the story progresses and what reader feedback is.  But it won't be one of those never-ending stories.  

I will say this: Stonehart has very real reasons for what he's doing.  It's definitely not just random cruelty.   I planned this whole series to the end in September 2013, and will keep to that plan.  I just don't know how many books it will take me to get to the end.

Uncovering You cover reveal is tomorrow!

Hey everyone,

Tonight sort of feels like Christmas Eve.  You know that excitement you get when you were still a kid, hoping and wishing and wondering about the presents that Santa brought that you'll get to see in the morning? That's me right now.

We've got almost 400 blogs signed up for the Uncovering You  cover reveal tomorrow.  A huge thanks to all the promoters who worked with me to get that set up. And, of course, to the bloggers, too.  I am excited -- oh my god, so excited--- to see the response.

Lost in Shadow update

Hey everybody,

I know people out there are wondering what's going on with Lost in Shadow and the sequel. Here's the deal:

There were issues with the content from Barnes and Noble's end (and Amazon's), and they asked me to fix some things before putting it back on sale. It was completely out of my hands, and totally unexpected.

I was forced to pull the book from sale. I'm going to re-publish it again in the new year with a NEW TITLE and NEW COVER, because I love the story and there's a lot more that I have planned for Lilly and Stonehart.

I have the second part ready (well, kind of.. it still needs a proofread) and the third part is 90% done. I'm planning on having a total of five installments, but there might be more, depending on how the story develops. I have a definitive plan in mind of where the story has to go before the end.

I will continue the series, but I just have to delay it a few months. I know it sucks for people who read the first one and wanted the rest of the story. When I re-publish it, though, I intend to release each part within 20 days of each other. There will never be a long wait between books.

Now, for all the readers who've read Part One, and are waiting for Part Two, please email me. I'll send you a copy of Lost in Shadow 2 as soon as I have it done. That way, you get it before the re-release, and you won't have to wait as long.
