Deserted
The following is a dark, sci fi flash fiction based on Hansel and Gretel. For more information, see http://sknhammerstonebooks.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/fairy-tales-with-a-twist-part-1/
Miles and miles of desert stretched before the two children, separated from their family after the shades took over the outpost on Mars.
“Are you sure we are going the right way?” the girl asked.
Her voice was distorted through the breathing mask she wore to keep out the toxic air.
“I don’t know,” the boy admitted. “I haven’t known if we were going the right way for some time now.”
“Does anyone live out here?” she wanted to know.
“No one can know.” He took her hand to help her over a dune of red sand.
“Look! There’s a station!” She pointed at the tiny chrome building that had appeared on the other side.
The two of them hurried towards it with the hopes of water, food, and shelter from the harsh climate. Little did they know that an old shade lived inside, waiting to feed on human flesh.

Code Name: Cinderella
Dark, Sci Fi flash fiction based off of Cinderella. For more info, see http://sknhammerstonebooks.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/fairy-tales-with-a-twist-part-1/
I was hired to kill a man who went by the name Charming. We lived in a world where if you didn’t kill, you would be killed. Charming was from our neighboring planet of Ithmore where he was a prince in need of a princess. My disguise was perfect. Too perfect.
My partner was waiting to help me escape once I had killed the prince. If I was not there by midnight; he would be forced to leave Ithmore and I would be stranded.
I ran down the stairs to the docking bay, Charming quickly gaining on me. He believed me to be a princess and he was smitten.
I had only minutes before my partner would leave. The glass rose that held my com-link fell from my belt, breaking in two pieces at Charming’s feet. He stopped to pick it up and I knew that my cover was blown.

Death Warrant
The following flash fiction is based off of Snow White. For more information see, http://sknhammerstonebooks.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/fairy-tales-with-a-twist-part-1/
“What is it?” one of the seven agent asked.
The seven stood around the remains of a ship, crashed on the outpost on one of Jupiter’s moons.
“She’s not human,” another one answered.
In the center of the remains lay an unconscious creature. It had black hair and deathly pale skin with lips as red as blood. It had a humanoid appearance but was too tall and androgynous to be from Earth.
“Where did she come from?” the first, who seemed to be the leader, wanted to know.
“I have no idea.” The third agent to speak up was the oldest of the seven.
“She’s beautiful.” The newest member of the seven unit crew was awestruck by the sight of her.
“Is she dead?” the leader questioned.
As if to answer his question, the creature took in a sudden breath, her eyes flying open.
“She’s the one we’ve been hunting! The one with the death warrant!”
Fairy tales with a twist part 1
Not too long ago I wrote a short series of flash fiction stories based off of classic fairy tales but with a dark and almost sci fi twist. Each one is only 150 words. Interested? Then read on because the first one is here.
http://sknhammerstonebooks.wordpress.com/2013/08/21/ransom/
These are all very short but they have the potential to become longer stories. The favorite of all the ones I post will be expanded upon. Stay tuned for future stories.
Ransom
The following is a flash-fiction story based on Rumpelstiltskin.
“You have one day to find your way out of this valley.” His words echoed in her ears. “If you are not back by sun down, your sister will be enslaved.”
Every step seemed to take her deeper into an endless forest with no end in sight. Ever since the nuclear destruction of Earth ten years ago, nothing had been the same.
Maps didn’t work, most technology was destroyed. At any minute she could fall into some underground world, stirred up by the explosions. If her sister was enslaved she knew that she would never see her again.
“I can help you.” A tall man with dark red hair appeared before her, a rare piece of technology in his hand. “I know how to get out of the valley. I can get you out by nightfall. In return, however, I will require your firstborn child.”
Did she really have a choice? It was a child that didn’t exist or her sister.

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
Last night I finally got the chance to sit down and watch the 1999, Johnny Depp and Tim Burton Sleepy Hollow film. I have to say I loved it. It was dark, creepy, strange, and had just a touch of the typical Depp humor added in. It has been a very long time since I read The Legend of Sleepy Hollow so I am not quite sure how well it stuck to the original story but this post is about the movie so disregard any inconsistencies with the original Washington Irving piece.
The movie is about Constable Ichabod Crane and his attempts to change the late 18th century judicial system through “detecting” instead of torturing. Played by Johnny Depp, he is interest in how science and reason can solve a crime as opposed to torture and assumption.
He is told that if he can find the killer behind the beheadings of 3 people in Sleepy Hollow, his theory will be listened to. What does he find there? Well that he was tricked into doing this because the killer is none other than the headless horseman.
Of course there must be a reasonable, logical explanation behind this, right? Well of course not. The headless horseman is in fact the dead Hessian soldier who filed his teeth to points and beheaded his enemies until a little girl in the woods betrayed him to his enemies and got him beheaded and buried until a witch would use his head and the selling of her soul to bring him up from Hell as her servant and executioner.
So what exactly is the relevance and reason for me telling you about this movie? Well first off this is pure horror at its best. Second? It’s just plain creepy.
Essentially this headless horseman used to be a horseman with a head and very sharp teeth who was a monster even in life. Therefore it has the realistic horror where the killer is a living, breathing, regular human being who decided people should lose their heads.
Sound familiar? Anyway he is just a regular, human monster who had life take a very bad turn on him resulting in him losing his own head.
Then it has the creepy, paranormal horror that I love so much. The horror where a witch trades her soul for the ability to raise him from Hell to use him to kill her enemies. Of course this turns on her in the end because everyone who sells their soul to the devil eventually loses it which is just what happened to her when Ichabod Crane gives the horseman the head the witch had stolen. The horseman is now freed from her spell and he takes her back to Hell with him for eternal torture of some form or another.
This is one of the few horror movies I have seen that combines realistic and paranormal horror so seamlessly. It is the same man, the same monster, yet at one time he was realistic and in another he was paranormal.
If you have not seen this movie; make sure to pick it up just to give you the chills. It has been popping up in 5 dollar Walmart bins across America so check it out and let me know what you think.

Weeping Angels
This being my first real blog post means I might have some issues with actually writing a blog and not rambling… sorry about that. I suppose I will eventually do better but for now I can only write what I am capable of. So this first post is about Weeping Angels. Why am I writing about them?
Well the weeping angels I am referring to are the Doctor Who kind. The statues that you don’t realize are alive until you blink and suddenly this is in your face
Terrifying right? The most terrifying part is no one seems to know what they do to you once they actually catch you.
But back to the why weeping angels question?
In light of the new Doctor being announced, I am re-watching the entire Doctor Who series. Even now it is playing on my Netflix. Since this blog is called Demonic little Angel, I thought it very apropos that my first post be about another type of demonic angel, other than myself
For those of you who haven’t seen Doctor Who it is about a creature called a timelord who can travel in all time and space but not change dimensions. That would cause a serious issue.
In this series there are creatures called weeping angels and with the above picture I don’t think it would be necessary to show you another. That one would be enough to give you nightmares for all eternity.
The idea behind Weeping Angels is that they can be in any world, any time, and any place. They appear as statues like this one:
I’m sure we have all seen these before. They look harmless and very depressing. Tiny little stone statues that remind the viewer of death. However, they are all really alive and they are terrifying hunters who look for humans to prey upon. They can be anywhere at any time and they don’t discriminate against size, gender, race, or age.
When you are looking at them, you are fine. As soon as you blink or turn your head or if the lights go out or if anything happens to cause you to lose sight of them, they can move. Where do they go? Straight towards you and when you open your eyes or get them back in your view, it is the first picture that you see.
Now aren’t most angels viewed as gentle and kind and safe? Of course they are and that is what makes the weeping angels so terrifying.
What do they do to you? Well no one knows. If you get close enough, though, you turn into one. A creature who can never be looked upon by another. Why? If anyone looks at you, even another weeping angel, you turn to stone. You can never have contact with anyone ever again. But if they touch you, if they catch you, if you blink… well that is another story altogether.
What is the point of this blog? Well there isn’t one, really. It is simply to talk about yet another type of angel and to creep you out.
Sweet dreams, mwahahahaha
