say my name
A common question I get is: How exactly do you say Dita’s name?
Answer: Deeta
When I started writing Deer in Headlights, and had typed Aphrodite about 50 times, I knew I had to figure out a nickname for her. Certainly these modern characters wouldn’t call her something so formal. Aphro wouldn’t really work. But Dita…that’s something to go on.
Dita is a nickname for Edith. And how appropriate that there are a few famous Dita’s out there, including…
The original Dita
Dita Parlo – a German actress from the early 1900′s.
In the 90′s, Madonna’s alter ego for the production of her book Sex was named Dita.
And, my favorite Dita: Dita Von Teese, the burlseque dancer.

it’s all relative
Check out our bad-awesome infographic for Book 1. A little lost on your old mythology? No prob. We built his graphic for the front of the book, so you’ll have a little something to reference as you read.

cupid’s no baby

The more research I did on Eros (Cupid), the more I fell in love with him. He’s one of the love children of Aphrodite and Ares. This particular sculpture I absolutely love…it’s Eros and Psyche, his wife.
I think what I love most about this is that he’s not a fat, naked baby. He’s strong and beautiful – and did you get a load of those wings? Freakin awesome.
In the book, Dita and Eros are good friends and close allys, even though Dita and Psyche don’t exactly get along. In fact, Eros was sent to punish her for being so beautiful when he fell in love with her. Not Dita’s favorite. But Eros is charming and very witty…and usually naked.

Meet Staci
[image error]I didn’t know I was a writer until recently. Like, so recently that I’m not even going to tell you how recent. I’ve been a lot of things up to this point in my life – a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. I’ve also been a mom – I have three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. I’ve been a wife – even though I’m certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. I’m also super, duper fun at party, especially if I’ve been drinking whiskey. Also, my favorite word starts with f, ends with k, and there a uc in there. Just saying.

Howdy Howdy
Well, hello.
First blog post on my author website. No pressure, right? So, I’ll just post an image of one of my favorite paintings of the Greek gods. This is The Awakening of Adonis by John William Waterford. He did a number of absolutely astonishing paintings featuring mythology, definitely check him out.
