3000 to 30,000 Listeners per Episode w/ Joe Saul-Sehy (Part 2 of 2)

This is a two-part series about the behind-the-scenes of Stacking Benjamins, a top financial podcast, co-hosed by Joe Saul-Sehy. Something I've found is pretty common with podcaters (and all creative people) is we jump into whatever it is at the level we're at, get our bearings, then hit the gas as we learn what needs to be done to get better, going much deeper into the project and how we approach it. For example, as a podcaster, you probably listen to your first episodes and notice things about your hosting or (lack of) audio quality that you didn't notice at the time – what worked for us then, wouldn't be very satisfying to us now.

Joe had a similar experience with his podcast, Stacking Benjamins. And that's what we talk about on this episode of Build a Big Podcast.

This is Part 2 of 2. Part 1 is here. To make sure you get both, subscribe to this podcast.

Focusrite Vocaster - This is How it Sounds

Most podcasters know Focusrite for its Scarlet line of audio interfaces. The Vocaster is a similar product, but with an optional software interface, a nice layout for live streaming, and a way to connect to guests and co-hosts via your phone.   There are plenty of people reviewing the Focusrite Vocaster on YouTube. Rather than give you something that has already been done, I made this episode so you could actually hear the it in a podcasting situation and how it sounds with an inexpensive, beginner-level mic, Audio-Technica's ATR2100. Building the Greatest Money Show on Earth w/ Joe Saul-Sehy (Part 1 of 2)

This is a two-part series about the behind-the-scenes of the business of Stacking Benjamins, a top financial podcast, co-hosed by Joe Saul-Sehy. Joe learned from failure. Destroying his credit immediately after leaving home, he had to learn about money the hard way. It was through those experiences that he created Stacking Benjamins.

Kiplinger has called Stacking Benjamins the “best personal finance podcast” and Fast Company has described it as striking a “great balance between fun and functional.”

In this episode, I talk with Joe about building Stacking Benjamins.

Topics: Getting started in "radio" How a free credit card started Joe's personal finance journey Being too broke to get a car Sneaking an important message into your podcast … Borrowing ideas from radio and television shows The importance of giving your listeners a “roadmap” Being an “airport” for listeners Why some host “yell” and why you won't hear this on Stacking Benjamins Keeping in touch with “who you were” to create a better listener experience A counterintuitive way to grow your podcast The “small audience” advantage

This is Part 1 of 2. To make sure you get both, subscribe to this podcast.

Podcasting Has a "Baby Formula" Problem

There's a baby formula shortage in the United States right now. Unfortunately, many podcasters find themselves in a similar situation regarding their podcasts and related businesses. Are you one of them?
