Teaser Tuesday: Super Secret Project
Happy Teaser Tuesday, y’all! I’ve got a real treat for you today. I’m dropping some big hints about what the super secret project is that I’ve been working on for the last few months in between preparing the FRIENDZONE Series for you.
It’s a whole line of books written in a different genre with a different pen name. Super spicy books. *wink*wink*
Here’s a little PG teaser of what’s to come.
It took me nearly five minutes to elbow my way across the dance floor to the bar. People were crammed like sardines in the club. It has to be a serious fire code violation. I don’t like crowds and I’m beginning to feel more and more anxious by the minute as I try to fight my way to the bar top. Elbow jabs, toe smashing, and shoving are all taking place as the crowd surrounding the bar scuffle for the attention of the overwhelmed bartender.
“Whatchu drinking, mami?” a man in a military dress blue uniform asks. He’s leaned up against the bar looking very comfortable as if he’s been there all night. The club is dark so I feel more than see his eyes as the explore the curves of my body. He licks his lips as if he has just spotted a delectable dish he cannot wait to taste. I know his type. They sweated after me in college. The cocky players who think with their looks, smooth lines, and a cheap drink they can charm their way into my bed, or any other woman’s bed. They’re not too picky.
“At ease, soldier-” I roll my eyes at him about to tell him I’m a perfectly capable independent woman who can manage to get her own drink.
A chorus of groans rises up from the crowd that surrounds the bar – a groan I’d expect to hear down at the sports bar after our local favorite quarterback takes a big hit. Mr. Smooth gasps and clutches his chest like he’s in pain.
“I try to do the kind and gentlemanly thing by offering to get your drink for you, and you insult me. You’re a ball buster aren’t you, mami?”
More info on this project and my new pen name will be coming soon! Keep a watch here on the website, my social media, and your emails!
Can’t wait for the big reveal!

Write About It Wednesday: Spring Cleaning
Hello, and Happy Wednesday, friends! (Yes, it’s Wednesday for those of you who have lost track.)
With so much spare time on my hands, I’ve been doing a lot of cleaning, rearranging furniture, and organizing. I guess it’s right on time for Spring Cleaning this year. But, I don’t do it first thing in the morning like maybe a “normal” person would. No, I am a night owl, so ten o’clock at night rolls around and I think, “Hm… right now seems like a perfectly good and reasonable time to start organizing my closet.” (Which is a true story. I really did that.) It ended up working out well though, because while everyone else headed off to their rooms to go to bed, I took all the clothes and shoes out of my closet and spread them all over the living room so I could deep clean and reorganize my closet.
I joked on my private Facebook the other day that this sudden cleaning kick has me feeling and acting like a mom who just found out that company is coming.
If you haven’t guessed by now, this sudden cleaning frenzy is the inspiration behind today’s prompt: Spring Cleaning.
Write About:
Write about a neat-freak character who goes overboard with Spring Cleaning.
Write about witches/wizards/sorcerers/pagan culture performing a cleaning ritual.
Write about your own Spring Cleaning experience.
Write about a Cinderella/maid type character’s day-to-day life.
Write a funny Quarantine Ad for a cleaning product. (real or imaginary product.)
[image error]Have you been doing a lot of cleaning during the Stay at Home Orders? Do you “Spring Clean” every year? Were your parents the “Freak out and clean because company is coming” type when you were growing up? Are you that person now? Let me know in the comments!

Review for “Bad Boys Don’t Make Good Boyfriends” by Melanie A. Smith
From best-selling author Melanie A. Smith comes the second book in a new series of steamy contemporary medical romance standalone novels about life lessons that break all the rules.
Even when you know better, sometimes it’s simply too tempting…
Hospital work isn’t for the faint of heart. Becca Dillon knows that firsthand, having worked as a medical assistant in the cardiac unit at Rutherford Hospital for longer than she cares to think about. What she does care to think about is having fun, gossip, and … guys. Her favorite of the three. And why stick to one, when you can sample them all?
That’s exactly her plan when a workplace crush on a mysterious bad-boy orderly unexpectedly takes a very steamy turn. But Vincent DeMarco turns out to be nothing like she expected, and before she knows it, she’s falling hard and fast. She wants him in ways she’s never wanted anyone before, but there’s something he’s keeping from her. Something that’s holding him back. And Becca is going to find out what.
Even though she knows that bad boys don’t make good boyfriends, he seems like he might be so much more. Will her quest unlock the truth behind who he really is? Or will it end their relationship for good? Either way, ready or not, Becca’s world is about to change.
My Review:
An entertaining, bad-boy-lite, medical romance that’s just as funny as it is steamy. This one immediately had me laughing, and then grinning and swooning. Another winner from Melanie A. Smith. Definitely recommend.

Forever and One Day (Hudson River Book 1) by Jacqueline Simon Gunn
Everyone has wondered “what if?” But how many get a chance to live it?
Seventeen years ago, Olivia Watson’s world was turned upside down when she discovered Justin, her high-school sweetheart turned fiancé, having sex with her best friend, Petal. Unable to muster up any forgiveness, she turns her back on him and every friend connected to that part of her life, leaving many questions about the details of the betrayal unanswered.
When Olivia receives an invitation for her twenty-year high school reunion, she decides that she’s been avoiding the past for too long. It’s time to go back and revisit that part of her life, her old friends, and the betrayal that created the wedge between them.
As soon as she and Justin lay eyes on each other at the reunion, they immediately sense the vibrant remains of their unbreakable connection. The spark between them never faded. However, Justin is now married to Petal and Olivia is involved with Adam, her handsome, best-selling-author boyfriend. But is healing old wounds enough for Olivia and Justin to move forward together, or will it help them make peace with the new lives they have chosen?
Each of the four main characters remain bound to their past by unresolved issues, demonstrating that sometimes we can’t find our future until we settle our past. But, most importantly, Olivia learns that forever isn’t time eternal; rather, forever is a place we share with the people we love the most — even when they’re gone.

I Would Never… But If I Did (I Would Never Companion Series Book 1) by Maria Ann Green
Taryn Sams doesn’t believe in love. Period. Every time she’s gotten close, her happiness has been ripped from her, proving once again the only thing worth believing in is the inevitability of her own – and others – screw ups.
For Austin Wright, Taryn is the one who got away. But really, if he’s honest with himself, he pushed her away, with one hard shove. He did the one thing he told her he never would do, and shattered both of their hearts. But it’s been years since then, and somehow Austin and Taryn found a way to be friends, albeit dysfunctional ones.
Theo Evans is the other man in Taryn’s life. He’s also Austin’s best friend. But, to be fair, he’s been in love with Taryn longer. He accepts Taryn as she is, broken, and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to be the one she chooses in the end.
Taryn isn’t the only one with someone else in her life. Austin has a girlfriend he’s trying to see a future with even though she can’t live up to those that came before. Yet they keep coming back together like magnets, unable to resist the pull to each other. Taryn continues her relationship with Theo while starting up again with Austin, willing to give him one more shot though not willing to let go of Theo just yet. While juggling the two men, she’s hoping that her once-bitter heart will eventually open up and tell her who to choose, hoping that she isn’t deluding herself yet again about what’s real and what’s possible.
Can love win Taryn over, or will she screw up her own life yet again, and the lives of at least three others in the process?

Write About It Wednesday: Isolation
Happy Write About It Wednesday and April Fool’s Day, Writers! We’ve finally made it to April after what felt like the longest March ever! I hope you are all staying healthy and safe out there in the world. Washing your hands, not touching your face, and staying six feet away from everyone.
The virus has started to hit hard here in my hometown. Not like in some places, but it seems like its definitely spreading rapidly. The causes of confirmed COVID-19 has reached double digits and we’ve had two deaths attributed to the illness.
Since I am immuno-compromised I have been diligent about staying isolated and washing my hands to the point that they’re so dry they’re peeling and cracking. (oops). I haven’t been in public in about three weeks and even though I am an introvert, the isolation is starting to make me a little loony.
[image error]Yesterday, I was a part of a huge online event called Quarantine-o-ween. The event was put on by my group The Spooky Bitches of Lubbock along with Horror Web and was sponsored by Dark Mother Co and Nightmare on 19th Street. During the event I read an excerpt from my book The Possessive Kiss ( Book Two of The Kiss Series). The excerpt I read takes place during a Halloween Masquerade Ball, so I thought it was a fitting choice. Throughout the event spooky crafts were made, cocktails were consumed, spooky comics and video games were discussed, spooky makeup was applied, there was burlesque, and a 1000 year old vampire as well as Jason Voorhees made guest appearances.
That event definitely helped break up the monotony of isolation.[image error]
Speaking of isolation. On Instagram, today marks the beginning of #AestheticWipUpApril Challenge created by @iamcawright and myself. This month’s theme is Isolation.
And today’s Write About It Wednesday theme is also Isolation!
Write About:
1. How isolation has been affecting you the past month.
2. A character isolated from the world.
3. A character who has just emerged from being isolated.
4. Another time in your past when you have been or felt isolated.
5. An isolated landscape.
[image error]Are you an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert? How are you handling the isolation? Are you working from home or still out in the workplace?

Review for “Frozen Memories: Angelbay Harbor #1)” by Cassie Faber
Redeemed bad boy Boh Mason has been running for all of his life to protect those he loves from the demons of his past. He ends up in the small coastal town of Angelbay Harbor, where young and talented Claire Forester literally falls into his arms.
The unworldly, innocent co-owner of Angel’s Cupcakes & Flowers, who is fighting to regain lost memories after a devastating car accident, finds herself inexplicably attracted to the mysterious stranger.[image error]
When his past pulls him into an inescapable web of corruption, he discovers for the first time in his life that running is not an option, and Claire realises that the key to unearthing her memories is in the hands of the person who will change her world irrevocably…
My Review:
More than just romance, this book contains family drama and suspense.
Boh is my new favorite bad boy, alpha protector book boyfriend.
Claire is a little too sweet and naïve for me, but that’s my personal preference.
The story started a little slow, but once it picked up I was hooked. Two twists that blew my mind.
Beware of the cliff hanger!
If you like slow burn romances with sweet innocent virgins who fall in love with the baddest of bad boys, this one is for you.

Write About It Wednesday: Virus
Happy Write About It Wednesday, Writers! It’s been quite a while since we have done one of these, but since I am sitting at home with a lot of spare time on my hands just like most of y’all, I figure now is a good time to bring them back.
Taking our topic from current events and the current pandemic that is sweeping the globe, today’s prompts all center around Virus.
So far, things haven’t been too different for me with social-distancing since I’m an introvert who works from home a lot of the time anyway. However, since I have autoimmune diseases and am at a greater risk for catching the virus and complications if I were to get the virus, I’ve been even more locked away and isolated than usual. However, my parents, friends, and siblings have definitely been affected. My mother is now teaching her students online. Almost all of the non-essential businesses around my town have shut down and the store shelves are barebones. We did our grocery shopping online for the first time last week (social-distancing win!).
Stay safe and healthy out there everyone!
Stay home if you can, flatten the curve, stop the spread, and these Write About It Wednesday: Virus Prompts:
Write about a zombie virus.
Write about a historical virus pandemic.
Write about how this current virus is affecting you and your family.
Write about a scientist working to find a cure for a virus.
Write about a magical virus.
Write about an apocalypse brought on by a virus.
Write about a post-virus dystopian society.

Review for “Abundance (Abundance #1)” by Shanna Swenson
Misfortune comes to us all in some form…
For Natalie Cameron, misfortune came in the most unspeakable way imaginable, now she must try and rebuild her life while fighting her own dark demons, the town speculation, her arrogant brother and her raging desire for the kindest man she’s ever met.
Natalie Cameron, along with her young daughter, Dallas, is on the run from a past that threatens to destroy her sanity. When her car breaks down on the side of a two lane Texas road, Jack Kinsen, her parent’s ranch foreman, unknowingly comes to her rescue. His kind eyes and sincere charm make him an easy target for Natalie’s trust issues and pent-up aggressions. But it doesn’t take her long to realize that her attitude towards him has a lot less to do with jealousy and a lot more to do with the fact that his closeness sets her on fire like no one else ever has. His sincerity begins to disarm the front she guards so vigilantly. If she isn’t careful, she could find herself lost to him….
At first glance, Jack Kinsen is fascinated by Natalie Butler Cameron and her child with her most curious gift. Natalie is the beloved only daughter of Jack’s employers and he’s not only baffled by her indifference to him but mystified by her unwarranted anger. She starts to awaken something primal within him, but will his compassionate nature be enough to break down the walls she hides behind or are her wounds simply too deep to heal?
Just as Natalie’s fate begins to turn around, unknowing danger lurks on the horizon. Natalie’s disturbing past is about to make an unexpected return…and with vengeance.
Abundance is a charming novel that will sweep you away with romance, drama and suspense as it expresses the depth of raw human emotion and the strength it takes to overcome tragedy.
My Review:
Abundance is about Natalie Cameron and Jack Kinsen. After finalizing her divorce, Natalie moves back home to her family ranch where Jack works as the foreman. Jack is immediately drawn to Natalie even though she does everything she can to push him away. Natalie’s divorce and the betrayal of her ex-husband has filled her with inner turmoil and trust issues that she must work through before she can love and allow herself to be loved again.
If you enjoy sweet, slow burn romances with sexy and lovable cowboys, this one is for you!

Review for “Never Trust a Rockstar (Never Trust #1)” by Sarah Darlington
WIN A DATE WITH A HOT ROCKSTAR?
Yes, please. Sign me up.
Emma has always been obsessed with Ollie Mills of the southern rock band, Sunset Revival. She follows his every move on Twitter, likes all his posts on Instagram, and stalks his page on Facebook. So when there’s a contest to win a date with the sexy-as-sin, bad-boy rockstar, of course she enters.
It’s a one in a million chance.
Caleb Mills has always been unlucky in love. From the girl who broke his heart, to every one-night stand in between, the lead singer of Sunset Revival barely feels anything anymore. He’s focused on his music and nothing more. Until he sees Emma, in a blue dress, on a hot night in Nashville. She’s meant to be his brother’s date, but the moment his eyes connect with hers he wants this beautiful girl all for himself.
Caleb knows, it will only take Ollie a minute to screw things up. And he’ll be there waiting to win this girl’s heart the moment he does. But can any girl, ever, really trust a rockstar?
*NEVER TRUST A ROCKSTAR is a standalone with a HEA. It can be read as a standalone or as the first book in Sarah Darlington’s NEVER TRUST Series.
My Review:
Quick, fun slow burn rockstar romance.
Real world issues of middle child syndrome and breast cancer give the H and h realistic qualities that make them easy to connect with.
The first two-thirds of the book I loved. Emma wins a date with a rockstar she has a crush on but realizes his older brother and band member (Caleb) is the real catch.
The last part of the book didn’t have the same chemistry for me and didn’t read as fast. Also I felt like the very last chapter/ending was abrupt. It just ended. Boom. Like a slammed door.
But I still enjoyed the book and would recommend it to anyone who likes rockstar romances.

Review for “The Publicist (Hollywood Lust #1)” by Cara Wade
He’s the bad boy Hollywood loves to hate. She’s been hired to “fix” his image. Too bad she doesn’t date her clients
Quinn Harrison
I’m the biggest bitch in the industry, and I’m proud of my title. I work my size twelve curves and don’t take crap from anyone.
Imagine my luck when I’m selected out of hundreds of publicity professionals to work with bad boy Caleb Evanstan. He’s one of Hollywood’s hottest celebrities and is totally off limits.
I have a hard rule about mixing business with pleasure… but one taste couldn’t hurt, right?
Caleb Evanstan
I’m every girl’s fantasy and I know it.
I’m in a bad spot with the movie studio, and they want me to clean up my act. Imagine my surprise when the studio sends over the one girl who makes me want to change my ways. She’s hot-headed, intelligent, and has sexy curves—everything I’ve ever wanted in a woman.
The only problem? She’s labeled herself off limits, and I want to break down her resolve.
Who says love in Hollywood is only lust?
My Review:
Hot alpha/celebrity romance!
I loved the h with her sassiness, take no bs attitude, and I like that she is a size 12.
The H was moody and stubborn and possessive and overprotective- all the things I love.
Good banter and chemistry between the H & h.
