About Laura:

Laura Howard lives in New Hampshire with her husband and

four children. Her obsession with books began at the age of 6 when she got her first library card.

Nancy Drew, Sweet Valley High and other girly novels were routinely devoured in single sittings.

Books took a backseat to diapers when she had her first child. It wasn’t until the release of a

little novel called Twilight, 8 years later, that she rediscovered her love of fiction. Soon after, her

own characters began to make themselves known.

Synopsis:

One scar.

One betrayal.

No escape.

When Sloan Reynolds beats criminal charges, Melissa Jones stops believing her wealthy, connected ex-husband will ever pay for what he did to her.

Derek Alexander can’t accept that—a tiny silver scar won’t let him forget, and as a leader in the security business, he is determined to get the man who hurt his fiancée.

Then the body of a former call girl turns up dead. She’s the breakthrough Derek’s been waiting for, the link to Sloan’s sordid past he needs. But as usual, legal paths to justice have been covered up or erased.

Derek’s ready to do whatever it takes to protect his family when his partner Patrick Knight devises a plan that changes everything.

It’s a plan that involves coloring outside the lines and taking a walk on the dark side. It goes against everything on which Alexander-Knight, LLC, is based.

And it’s a plan Derek’s more than ready to follow.

Excerpt:

“What have you done?” His voice is full of warmth as he watches me from the sofa.

“Since you’ve been working too hard—”

“Exaggeration.”

“Since you’ve been working too hard,” I repeat, “I decided to recreate our relaxing spa vacation in the desert.”

Placing the tray on the coffee table, I hand him his flute and lift mine. “To family restrooms.”

He laughs and clinks back. “To the gorgeous woman who drives me to crazy extremes.”

We sip and I crawl forward on the couch to kiss him and tell him again. “I love you.”

He leans forward, placing his flute, the tray, my flute, all of it on the coffee table. Then his hands move through the open robe to pull me onto his lap in a straddle, facing him. Just that fast, his mouth is on my neck, nibbling and kissing. My eyes are closed, and I’m powerless.

“I love you more,” he says beside my ear with a deep inhale. “You smell so good.”

Threading my fingers in his hair, I kiss his temple. “I wore the red lace…”

A rumble of approval, and his lips touch that spot behind my ear, a light scruff against my skin, sending shivers flying down my legs.

“My favorite.” His voice is thick as I pull his cheeks, reuniting our mouths.

For a moment, we make out like teenagers, hot and breathless, tongues entwining. He holds me against his bare chest, my elbows are bent, and my palms are on his cheeks. His mouth is like some rich, decadent chocolate I can never get enough of tasting. As we kiss, I feel him relax, and my hands slide behind his neck, my lips travel up to his brow. He hugs me against his torso and doesn’t move. Neither do I.

This big, strong man saved me twice. If comfort is what he needs, I’m here to give it to him. I’m here to give him anything. After a few more breaths, his arms relax. I lean back and study his face a moment. The robe has dropped around my shoulders, so I’m basically sitting nude on his lap, but I don’t care.

“Hungry?” I reach for the sandwich plate and hold it between us, right at our chins. “You probably won’t think it’s as good as Central Grocery, but I think it’s delicious.”

His blue eyes take me in before he bites. “Mmm…” is all I get.

Giggling, I lean forward and take a bite myself. The tangy, savory flavor of olives and smoky provolone fills my mouth.

“Delicious!” My voice is muffled.

His smile glows as he watches me, his voice full of love. “How’s the baby?”

Lowering the sandwich to the plate, I turn and put it on the side table again. “I can’t feel a thing, but the doctor said he’s doing great.”

My last checkup was a week ago, and we both agreed unless something unusual occurred, Derek could miss the routine exams. So far everything has been by the book.

“So he’s a boy now?” I love his grin at the prospect of a little son.

Shrugging, I acquiesce. “Maybe… it’s too soon to know.”

His attention moves from my face to my abdomen. Large hands span my bare stomach before he leans forward and kisses me right below my sternum, right at the top of my belly.

“I love you,” he whispers to the little bean growing there.

I’m certain my heart melts in that instant, and I catch his face again to cover it with kisses. He’s right with me, lifting me in his arms and carrying me to the master suite. A California king-sized bed fills the space, and he spreads me out on the soft mattress, lying on his side next to me.

I trail my fingers lightly over his brow, to his temple, following a line to his strong jaw. He looks at me like I’m the most fragile thing in his bed—another detail he knows isn’t true.

We don’t disturb the moment, though. The truth might be that both of us are strong as iron, tough as flint, but holding each other, we know how precious it is that we’re here, together.

The randomness of chance keeps us both in awe, and for that, we treasure these moments. After working so hard, our reunions are the sweetest bliss. He holds me, and I feel very needed and extremely sexy. This man is like water in the desert to me, and it isn’t hard to see the feeling is mutual.

“I’m sorry I interrupted dinner.” Leaning forward, he nibbles the skin at my neck, and a surge rises between my legs. “Can you wait?”

My voice is thick as I answer. “I guess so…”

How far would you go to save your sister?

Life as a college senior is stressful enough. Between mid-terms, stupid boys, and a rare blood condition, Eliza Landry is just trying to figure out what normal is—whatever that means—when she discovers that vampires aren’t just a thing of legend.

In a matter of moments, her life changes forever when she and her older sister Kate suffer a vampire attack which leaves Eliza with two puncture wounds on her neck and an allergy to sunlight. But she’s still human, or at least she thinks she is. It doesn’t really matter—her main concern is that her sister is missing.

Sorrow turns to obsession, leading Eliza to piece together the puzzle of that terrifying night. Even stumbling upon a millennia-old vampire assassin named Luke Conrad who either wants to kill her or kiss her (she can’t decide) cannot deter her.

When bodies start piling up and one of them is supposedly Kate, Eliza and Luke set out to discover who is behind the attacks. Soon, Eliza is drawn into the dark and dangerous world of the undead, with no guarantee she’ll make it out alive, and no doubt that she won’t like what she finds.

Grady, the club’s Sergeant-at-Arms, knows that love makes you weak, and he has zero interest in adding to his liabilities– especially now. Keeping her nose clean is easier said than done, when suddenly she finds herself embroiled in club business. Holly might like the idea of being with a real-life bad boy, but even being in the same room with tough-as-nails Grady flusters her.

Girl Lost by Nazarea Andrews: Cover Reveal!

GIRL LOST by Nazarea Andrews

Coming May 2014

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000026_00025]

Goodreads link: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/20648608-girl-lost

BOOK SUMMARY:

Northern was supposed to be a fresh start—a place where people didn’t know who I was or how I had spent years in and out of mental institutes. People didn’t know about my parents death or the island no one heard of. But when Peter sits next to me in lit class, I can’t stop the memories, and I don’t want to. He looks too much like the boy from the island, and despite my best intentions, coaxes my secrets from me.

He’s gorgeous, irresistible, a little mad, and completely lost—we are a pair of broken cogs in a world neither of us truly fits into. And he listens when I talk, about the past and the terrifying future. He is somehow gentle and fierce, heartbreaking in his devotion and savage in his defense.

When Belle, his best friend, shows up, pale and lovely and sick, Peter pulls away from me, a startling withdrawal. It’s a relationship that scares and confuses me. She is at times warm and friendly, and other times is violent and unpredictable.

Peter says that he wants me, but refuses to let himself get close. And there are secrets, surrounding both of us, that border on nightmares. As the memories close in, as Belle gets sicker and more violent, I’m torn between what is true and what I believe, and what this magical boy knows about my mysterious past.

*Suitable for 17+. A romantic contemporary retelling of the boy who never grew up.

Excerpt:

I shrug. “Because I can’t help but trust you. Even though it’s stupid and I have no good

reason for it–I want to trust you. I want you to be someone I can trust.” I open my mouth, to tell

him about the boy, about why it is so important to me. Why I should stay away from him, and

why I can’t seem to.

Peter speaks first. “I don’t know who your father is. I don’t know why you want to run

from your past. But the thing is, Gwen, I don’t care. I want to be part of now. I’ll fight tooth and

nail to be part of now.”

“What if now is temporary?” I ask, thinking about my aunt and my tenuous grasp on

sanity and all the reasons I should step away from Peter.

“Then we enjoy what we have,” he murmurs. I shudder as his voice wraps around me,

as warm as the hand curving around my neck. He makes a low noise, and lifts me, until I’m

sitting in the circle of his crossed legs. Pressed against him. I can feel his heartbeat through his

shirt, the unsteady pounding. His fingers are still pressed against my hips, still holding onto me

despite having me where he wants.

I should move back, put distance between us, so he knows that this isn’t ok. I sit still and

silent in his arms and wait for the chiding voice, telling me it’s wrong.

The voice that has drown out every thought and feeling, every time a boy has touched

But it’s silent, oddly absent—maybe it is as charmed by Peter’s appearance as I am.

“What is Lane, to you?” he asks, breaking my thoughts.

I shrug, looking at the pulse point pounding in his throat. “A friend.”

“I don’t want you near him.” He says.

There is a part of me, slight but there, that is annoyed by his pronouncement. But the

bigger part is smirking, leaning in so that my lips tickle along his neck. Peter goes very still, as I

whisper, a hairs breath from his skin, “Are you jealous?”

His voice is low, gravelly, “Yes. Fuck, yes I am. I don’t want any man near you—I hate

Micah for being your brother. I want you with me, always.”

His voice is so fierce, wild. It’s a savagery that is at odds with the soft circle of his arms,

the gentle press of his fingers on my back.

That is all tenderness and fragile care.

EXCERPT TIME!

The Past: Anna

A few weeks later, I approach the lunch table, and Shannon shouts, “Happy birthday!” I think she enjoys embarrassing me. The smile on my best friend’s is the only thing that stops me from smacking her.

“Why don’t you say it a little louder Shan, I don’t think people across the street heard you,” I mutter as I plop in between her and Jared.

She rolls her eyes. “Smile, it’s your birthday. You’re not allowed to be grumpy.”

Jared snakes an arm around my shoulders and pulls me into a half hug and plops his usual friendly kiss on my head. “Happy birthday, beautiful. How does it feel to be fifteen like the rest of us?”

“Feels like any other day. It kinda sucks to be born in the fall though.” I smile up at him as our hug separates. Until I met Todd, I wanted Jared. He’s sweet and gorgeous with dark brown hair and matching eyes. My eyes shift and catch his newest girlfriend scowling at us. A month ago, her presence would be a smack in the face, a reminder that my feelings weren’t shared. But now I have someone who does share my feeling.

Thinking about him, my eyes drift around the cafeteria to see if I can catch a glimpse of Todd. Even though we’ve officially been dating a month, he still doesn’t want people to know that we’re together, and that is a little jab to my heart. I don’t want him to be embarrassed of me, but I try and understand. I want to make him happy, so I swallow my disappointment.

“Who are you looking for?” Alison asks. Alison and Aaron, who are dating, are the final two in my little group of friends. Well, Shannon’s boyfriend too, but he goes to a different school.

I quickly bring my attention back to the table because Todd doesn’t even want my friends to know and I don’t want my wandering eyes to spark questions. “No one.”

“Really, you looked like you were looking for someone.”

“Nope,” I say. “So are you guys going to the football game on Friday?” I know I won’t be able to go because my dad is working, and someone needs to be home with my sisters, and although Mom will be there, she’ll probably be in her bedroom. Again.

The distraction works and they chatter on with their plans for Friday night and no one is surprised when I say I can’t join them. I zone out until I notice everyone has stopped talking. When I realize that their eyes are focused behind me, I look over my shoulder and worry seeps through my veins. Todd stands behind me with clenched fists and a blank stare that just barely conceals the anger underneath. My heart races and my palms sweat as my worry turns into panic. Something is wrong. Very wrong.

“Savannah,” he says evenly. “Can I talk to you in the hall for a minute?”

I glance back at my friends who wear matching shocked expressions. When their eyes shift back to me and I see the questions forming, I stand up and mumble, “I’ll be right back.”

I start to follow Todd when Jared puts a hand on my arm stopping me, and I turn to see his brow furrowed. “You okay?”

I open my mouth to respond, but Todd interrupts him with a curt “She’s fine. Let’s go, Savannah.”

My gut is a jumbled mess, but I give my friends a half smile and turn to follow Todd out into the hallway.

When the cafeteria door closes behind me and the two of us are alone, he turns to me and pushes me against the nearby wall. “What the fuck are you doing? Are you trying to make me angry?” he hisses and inch from my face.

My eyes widen and my body electrifies with anxiety. I wrack my brain to figure out what I did wrong, what I did to make him so angry. My heart races as I stammer out, “I’m sorry. I…I don’t know what you mean.”

“Why is that little shit putting his hands on you?”

“Who? Jared?”

His jaw clenches and his hand on my arm squeezes tighter, but he says nothing.

“He’s just my friend. We’ve been friends since middle school,” I rush out. Even though, I had a crush on Jared since I’ve known him, my feelings for him are nothing compared to what I’m feeling for Todd.

“If he’s just a friend, why the fuck did he kiss you?” His eyes flash with anger.

“I…I don’t know. He’s always done that,” I explain quickly.

“I don’t like him. I don’t want you hanging around him.”

My face drops. Jared is my friend and has been for a few years now. I don’t want to make Todd mad at me, but I don’t want to lose my friends either. “But he’s my friend.”

“That little asshole wants in your pants, and I don’t want him anywhere near you.”

My face flames at the mention of sex. Todd was my first kiss and other than a few make out sessions, I’ve never done anything more than that. Jared doesn’t see me that way anyway, so I shake my head. “He doesn’t.”

His hand grips me harder and I wince. “So you want him, then huh? Is that it?”

“What?! No!” I guess, on some level it’s a lie, but I’m not pining after Jared romantically anymore. I have Todd and I care about him. I think I may even love him, so I don’t want him to think that I want Jared. He might leave me and that thought makes me tense and scared.

“You sure?” he asks, his face softening a little making the stiffness in my body begin to melt away.

“Yeah, I only care about you,” I reply softly.

He rewards me with a gorgeous smile and my body relaxes completely when he envelops me in his arms and presses his lips on top my head. He keeps them there for a few beats allowing contentment to settle over me.

“I think you should prove it,” he mumbles against my head.

A few personal facts: Sloth from The Goonies is her third cousin, she acted and stared in several plays throughout high school and college, and she can play four different instruments. Nicki’s philosophy is to appreciate the good things in life. If we didn’t make mistakes and have bad things happen then we wouldn’t know how truly wonderful the good things are. No matter how difficult life is sometimes, if we look to the people that love us, then we can get through them and on to the good stuff.
