This is not just a book but an interactive work of art. It is an ode to light- for all its glory and importance.
Right from the cover, one can see the interesting die cuts with translucent colour inserts, and naturally you’ll hold the book against a source of light. That’s a winner right there. As we flip pages, the different layers of colour interact and mix to give different shades in each spread, apt for the description. The stylized images, that of wheat, sea, all together create a beautiful poetic experience, culminating in this line- “the light is you. And you are light. ”
I didn’t explain anything about this book to Sayu, nor did she ask. But from the time I handed it over to her, she has been exploring it all by herself. So far, it’s the visual appeal that’s keeping her hooked to it. I’d love to see her grow with this book.
