The Ups and Downs of Being Dead – a review

Back in December 2012, I wrote a review on a feel-good novel about dying. That novel was ‘Don’t Tell Anyone’, by Laurie Boris, and it’s still one of my favourite stories, but today’s novel comes a close second. It’s all about being dead. ‘The Ups and Downs of Being Dead’ was written by M.R. Cornelius,  and [...]

K.D.Rudd as you’ve never seen him before!

Kevin Rudd tweeted a link to this fantastic spoof of himself and I just had to share. I know bringing politics into my blog is dangerous but can I just say K.D.Rudd and Malcolm Turnbull are the only two polies I’d like to vote for. Pity they’re on opposite sides of the political divide. cheers Meeks. [...]

IndiesForward – What if you couldn’t promote your own book?

The link below asks all writers and bloggers to help promote a book published posthumously. Having had a brush with cancer myself, this plea struck a nerve. The young author lost her fight with cancer, but she leaves behind a nine year old daughter and all proceeds will go to her. She will also grow [...]

Update to the Firebug post.

I recently wrote a rather angry post about a possible firebug in the Warrandyte area. I honestly thought we’d never know for sure how that fire started, so I’m really thrilled to be able to tell you it wasn’t a firebug, it was a campfire. This is the comment I received from Andrew, a member [...]

No more ‘simply’!

I am on such a high at the moment! When I checked my emails this morning I found an amazing critique of Vokhtah, by someone who commented on one of my posts. Now there are critiques that make you want to sing, and then there are critiques that make you want to drown yourself in [...]

Meeka’s Maintenance

This post is going to be full of bits and pieces. I thought of calling it ‘housekeeping’, but that had negative connotations coming from someone who hates housework, so I opted for the more blokey ‘maintenance’. Imagine me with an oil can instead of a feather duster. At the very top of my to-do-list are [...]

Flash fiction on Indies Unlimited

I couldn’t resist this particular flash fiction topic. The picture and the prompt really struck a nerve with me : Now he knew why the old man was always yelling at him for playing with matches. He stood well back but could feel the heat even from this distance. He could hear the crackles and [...]

Firebug? Or some kind of stupid?

Warrandyte earned its first ‘Watch and Act’ this morning thanks to two separate bushfires in the Wonga Park area. The CFA map shows the position of the last fire to be brought under control. It’s still not completely safe but as rain is predicted for tonight, we can all start breathing again. The reason we [...]

Vokhtah is on Indies Unlimited!

Sorry guys, I know you must be getting sick of this by now, but…  I really am on cloud nine at the moment so bear with me, please! I’ve mentioned Indies Unlimited [IU] quite a lot in the past because it’s a fantastic place to learn, and hang out with other writers. The regulars are [...]

I’ve been interviewed!

A huge thank you to Lord David Prosser for making me feel like a real author! The interview is here. I don’t sound like too much of a dork do I? Filed under: Uncategorized Tagged: A.C.Flory, Interview, Lord-David-Prosser, Vokhtah
