My countdown boo boo on Vokhtah
Some of you may notice that the bright yellow image counting down until Vokhtah goes free, is gone. The reason is simple, I forgot February only has 28 days. As a result, all the countdown images were wrong. -sigh- I honestly don’t know how I managed to stuff things up so completely. I remember worrying about [...]

Half Way Home – a review
For days now, I’ve been feeling the need to write another review, but none of the books I’ve read recently has had that little something extra that makes writing a review a joy instead of a chore. Many were interesting, and provided an enjoyable read, but if I were into rankings, they’d be a 4 [...]

Something extraordinary
I found this beautiful, utterly extraordinary little animation on Metan’s blog, Buried Words and Bushwa. Thank you Metan, it’s not often I tear up from joy. The video goes for 15 minutes. It’s a short film. Give yourself the time to watch it because … you’ll thank me. And Metan. love Meeks Filed under: Uncategorized [...]

GW2 – doing it solo
I try not to do too many posts on the gaming side of my life, but I feel my time in GW2 [Guild Wars 2] is drawing to an end, so I’m going to talk about how the game has measured up for a solo player. The gorgeous looking young man in the photo is [...]

How Amazon works – courtesy of David Gaughran
I don’t often reblog almost an entire post, but I thought this one was too interesting, and informative, to pass up. Amazon’s Recommendation Engine Trumps The Competition Posted on February 22, 2013 by davidgaughran There’s an old adage that bestsellers are chosen rather than made, and there’s some truth to that. The amount a publisher [...]

The new, improved? WP Reader
I’ve only been using the new Reader for a short while, and I admit it’s handy to see what other bloggers are doing from within WP [instead of following links from my email inbox], but that ‘Like’ button worries me. It’s too easy. Now don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against easy. Easy is [...]

Vokhtah goes free!
Vokhtah is 'soft' science fiction with a smidgeon of fantasy. The Kindle version will be free on Amazon from March 1 - 5.
The story is not your average science fiction as all the characters are aliens, and there are no lasguns or starships or FTL travel. But these aliens are not gentle creatures. They are tough, so tough the softer emotions are seen as deviance. Or perversion.
The aliens of Vokhtah do know about honour though, and loyalty. That is why the Blue, a powerful healer, sets out to save the Guild of Healers from a course of action that could destroy every healer on the planet.
Along the way, the Blue learns just how dangerous, and unforgiving Vokhtah can be.
Betrayed and left for dead with a young Trader Apprentice, the Blue has to battle the elements, the wild, and the ingrained distrust of the Traders just to survive. Yet what value a life without purpose, or meaning?
Come share the Blue's journey and enter a world like no other.

KDP free promotions
I didn’t really have a marketing plan when I published Vokhtah, and to be honest I still don’t. I know what I should be doing – blogging, tweeting etc – and I am doing my best, but I have a very low threshold for boredom so I only spend about 10 – 15 minutes on [...]

First Map of Vokhtah
Another hot day, more bushfires and non-stop radio killed my concentration, so I updated this old vector map of the Northern Trade Route described in Vokhtah. Left click on the image to see it at full size. Filed under: Vokhtah Tagged: Corel, Map-of-Vokhtah, vector

Birds of Tokyo – In the Veins of Death Valley
Being the senile old biddy that I am, I completely forgot I was going to post more 70′s favourites this weekend. -sigh- So as it’s Sunday here already, I thought I’d post something modern instead. Now me and modern [2010] don’t usually go together. To be honest I find most modern music rather… boring. There [...]
