Happy February 2024

It’s February Champions which means Valentine’s Day is almost here! Valentine’s Day continues to be one of my favorite holidays–partly because I have a massive sweet tooth but also because I love coming up with little notes and gifts for my family and friends to show how much I care for them.

And this year I have a Valentine’s Day present for you (but it’s not ready yet!). Mark your calendar for February 14th because starting on the 14th there will be a sale on the first two books of the Gate of Myth and Power series and book #1 will be FREE!

Happy Valentines Day

But since it’s not time for the sale yet I wanted to share something fun with you while we wait; so here are a few short stories I have written that are all romance related (there are more and check out the freebies page to find them):

Fairy Godmother Short Story

The Fairy Godmother Love Story – This is a standalone story not connected to any of my books so if you are looking for a cute little story you can read in just a few minutes start with this one!

Bowling Alley Romance

Bowling Alley Romance – There is a side character romance going on in the Court of Midnight and Deception series and continued in the Pack of Dawn and Destiny series and this short story finally shows them getting together! (Don’t read it if you don’t want to be spoiled!) I am very happy I got to place this short story in a bowling alley because that is a very Wisconsin appropriate location.

Love Potion Short Story

The Love Potion from The Fairy Tale Enchantress Series – This is a side story to the events that take place during book #1 in this series, The Apprentice of Magic. I have always had a low opinion of “love potions” and this short gave me the chance to rant a little about this topic! This story doesn’t have too many spoilers for the series so go ahead and give it a try if you want a taste of what my fairy tales are like.

Magic on Main Street: Favorite Quotes?

Let’s talk favorite quotes! Now that it has been over a week since book #2 in the Magic on Main Street series was released, I’m curious to know what have been some of your favorite quotes from this series?

As an author the interactions with the task force have been fun to write, and I admit I love Considine because he has some really great zingers that he generously shares with the world! But I’d like to know which you liked best (they don’t have to be funny)?

Task Force Quote from Magic on Main Street    Lies of Vampires and Slayers quote

If you like the quotes in this post check out my Pinterest board in the coming weeks for more new ones (and hundreds of pins featuring quotes from my other books).

As a quick reminder, if you are part of the Discord community you can add your favorite quotes to a running list that Vin, our fearless Discord leader, collects after each new release. She uses that quote list as a reference point when creating new quote images so this is a great way to get your favorites made into images!

Short Story: Annoyed Eminence

The reviews are in, which means it is time for a bonus short story!

The Games of Enemies and Allies is now out, and the reviews have been pouring in like crazy! I actually lost power Friday evening (the day of the launch, ahahah) and didn’t get it back until Sunday afternoon due to a snow storm. So after a weekend of shoveling, cleaning out my fridge, draining the pipes in my house, and lots of other crazy stuff, today was the first chance I really had to sit down and observe what is happening. All I can say, Champions, is: WOW! Thank you so much for the crazy number of reviews and ratings you have left on Goodreads and Amazon, and thank you so much for the support you have given this series. I’m always amazed at how detailed and engaging the Champions are at writing reviews; some of them are more interesting to read than the book description! 🙂

To express my thanks, here is the bonus short story: The Annoyed Eminence. (It has a LOT of spoilers for The Games of Enemies and Allies so skip this if you haven’t finished the book yet.)

Short Story Annoyed Eminence

I’ve had a lot of fun writing the Drake vampires as side characters in this new series, and I’m so happy I got to show them even more in this short story! What kinds of things do you think Josh includes in his scrapbooks?

Quick reminder that book#3 in this Magic on Main Street series is coming in early April. I am sorry for the delay but my writing speed was already slow due to my health problems, and I’m actually still sick with whatever virus I picked up right before the launch of Magic on Main Street book 1–this weekend didn’t help me, ahahaha…hah… Anyway, I’m working hard on book 3, and hopefully it will be worth the wait!

I’m also sharing the easier version of the Spot It tracker that includes the names for all the Places and People in The Games of Enemies and Allies. Click here or on the Spot It image below to get the “easy” version of the cameo tracker. Since the tracker only includes the NEW cameos that didn’t already appear in the first book the tracker had a lot fewer things to find. Thanks again to Vin, our faithful Discord Leader, for working with me to make this fun game. Were you able to find all the cameos?

Games of Enemies and Allies: Spoiler Post

Greetings, Champions! The Lies of Vampires and Slayers is officially released! Did you read it yet?

I’m bringing back the tradition of a Spoiler Post because I want to give you blog-reading Champions a place to voice your reading thoughts during this initial book launch so please talk away!

Warning: If you are waiting to read this series until all the books are out, or if you haven’t gotten a chance to read The Games of Enemies and Allies yet, then I’d suggest waiting before you check out the rest of the post or read the comments, or you’ll spoil the story for yourself!

Games of Enemies Spoiler Post

As usual, I’ve will be writing short story as my “thank you” for the launch of this new book and for it reaching 100 reviews–that’s 100 honest reviews pooling from Goodreads and all the Amazon stores!  Reviews and ratings are a big deal for authors. Honest reviews can help readers decide if a book is their thing or not, and I’m so thankful that you’re willing to spend your time leaving a review–which is why I’m happy to write the shorts! And this time I got the short story finished ahead of time so based on how quickly the reviews showed up for book 1, you can expect to see the short story….very soon. (Hahaha, thank you Champions, you are the best!) But until then, let’s talk spoilers!

So, Champions, most of the other Magiford books end book 2 with a cliff hanger but since I knew there was going to be a wait for book #3 I decided to get rid of the usual cliff hanger – did it surprise you?

What has been your favorite scene in the series so far? What are you looking forward to seeing in the last book?

The Games of Enemies and Allies: Spot the Cameos

The fun game where you spot the cameos in the Magic on Main Street series is back! As I said with book one, the Magic on Main Street series doesn’t deal with the Paragon’s search (which he talks about in the Gate of Myth and Power series) and because of that Jade doesn’t interact with most of the other series characters you know and love (other than the Drakes!). But since this is still the same city as the other books I’ve sprinkled tons of cameos of characters and places you will recognize! Some of them will be pretty obvious and some of them will be harder to identify, even if you recently read the other Magiford books.

There are more cameos in book #2 and to help you track down all the cameos Vin, our Discord Chief Moderator, created a “Spot it!” tracking graphic for you. Click the graphic below to download it and then color it in/mark it when you find each cameo. The tracker only includes the NEW cameos – characters and places that appeared on the first tracker won’t appear on this tracker (example: Killian isn’t on this tracker even though he appears in book #2 because he was on the book #1 tracker).

Spot It Tracker 2

Once again, this is the extra hard version of the “Spot it!” tracker that doesn’t have any of the answers included, it just has a clip art representing the place/character. When I release the bonus short story for reaching 100 honest reviews on The Lies of Vampires and Slayers I will post the version that has the names included.

Thanks again to Vin fun putting this together – we hope you enjoy it!

If you still haven’t pre-ordered book #2, The Games of Enemies and Allies, here the links one more time:

The third and final book in the trilogy will release at the beginning of April (total respect if you are waiting to read all the books until closer to that time – I personally don’t have the much self-control). This is a longer wait between the books than I prefer to do, but it ended up being necessary with all my health issues (Pro Tip from Kitty: avoid getting colds, they are zero fun!).

Games of Enemies and Allies: Available for Pre-Order

As I’m sure many of you know, The Games of Enemies and Allies is available for preorder, and is releasing in a few days on January 12th! What’s even more exciting, though is we finally have a description! (IMPORTANT: This description contains SPOILERS for book 1, Lies of Vampires and Slayers! If you haven’t read it yet, you’ll want to skip reading this description!)

What else is coming this week? A new Spot It! tracker for book 2 is coming the day before the release day so you can watch for new cameos when reading. I’ll also be publishing a new Book Spoilers blog post so you can discuss the book and all your theories with other Champions right here on the website. And I am once again going to be offering a bonus short story when we get 100 honest reviews across Goodreads + Amazon for The Games of Enemies and Allies (the Drake vampires star in the new bonus short story – I had so much fun writing it, and I can’t wait for you to read it!). Thank you in advance for every Champion who leaves a review on Goodreads or Amazon, I really appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts with other readers. 😍

And a quick reminder that the third and final book in this trilogy will be released at the beginning of April. I know that is a bit of a wait so I wanted to warn you in case you were planning to read all three books at the same time.

At night they’re enemies. During the day they’re friends. Only one of them is aware of this…

My stress levels skyrocketed after I discovered the deadly vampire who has taken over downtown is Considine Maledictus, one of the most powerful vampires alive.

Now I’m even more reluctant to tangle with him, but he’s started showing up in the middle of my investigations, even if they’re outside his territory. I never know if he’s there to fight or to lend me some unexpected help.

I don’t have time to ponder his weird behavior, because a group of local wizards are up to some shady practices. They’ve never been fond of the non-magical, but suddenly they’re popping up all over the city, “helping” humans.

At least I can count on my vampire friend and next-door neighbor, Connor, for some laughs. Except…he’s been acting strange and is even more touchy-feely than usual these days.

Regardless, I’m going to stay focused on protecting my city. I’m just not sure if I should be more concerned about the wizards, or the chaotic vampire who swaps from friend to foe on a nightly basis.

The Games of Enemies and Allies is the second book in the Magic on Main Street urban fantasy trilogy, and is part of the Magiford Supernatural City world. This series is packed with humor, magical fights, and a sweet, slow burn romance between a slayer who battles social anxiety and a vampire who is sick of his immortality.

Happy New Year’s 2024!

Happy New Year, Champions!

Book #2 in the Magic on Main Street series will be out in less than two weeks! But in honor of the New Year’s holiday I wanted highlight a short story featuring a cast of characters from a different Magiford series, The Court of Midnight and Deception.

Click here to read the short story: A New Year’s Celebration

This short features the yearly ceremony of the New Year that is hosted by the Day Court and the Night Court in Magiford. I mentioned this exact ceremony/event in the Court of Midnight and Deception series, but I knew it wouldn’t make sense for the plot to add this in–particularly since Rigel was gone for Leila’s first celebration–so I’m happy I was able to share this extra short story with you! It takes place after the end of the trilogy so it has spoilers if you haven’t finished all the books yet!

Court of Midnight New Years Short

I hope you have a fabulous New Year, Champions, and that 2024 brings you lots of laughter, fun, and good books!

Magiford Boxset Sale: Pack of Dawn and Destiny

Happy New Years Eve, Champions! I hope 2024 is a year of laughter and health for you!

The Lies of Vampires and Slayers has been out for over two weeks now! I love to celebrate the release of a new Magiford series with a sale on a previous Magiford series, and I decided to kick things off with a boxset sale so you can grab your own personal copy of a complete series for just 99 cents (and as low as Amazon will let me price it everywhere else)!

Starting today you can buy the whole Pack of Dawn and Destiny series on Amazon for $0.99!

Pack of Dawn and Destiny Boxset

Get the series sale: Amazon.com  |  All other Amazon Stores

The Pack of Dawn and Destiny series takes place at the same time as the Magic on Main Street series, however there is no overlap between the two plotlines, making this a good series to binge read in a long weekend! If you haven’t read this series yet (or if you read it through Kindle Unlimited) now the time to grab these books at a huge discount!

Quick disclaimer: I am personally not a fan of the very aggressive and controlling werewolf alpha trope, so if werewolves aren’t normally your favorite paranormal type then don’t worry! My werewolves are based on real wolves, so they kick butt and also love cuddles and playing. (If you want to know more about why stereotypical werewolves are nothing like real wolves read my old blog post here.)

Here’s the description from the first book if you want to know more about what this series is like:

Ever feel like you don’t belong? Try being a hunter living with werewolves. I’m the definition of “doesn’t fit in”.  I’m not Pack, but I’m not the enemy, either.

I struggle to survive among werewolves who are stronger and faster than me, and are competitive enough to break a bone or two for the sake of “fun.”

Greyson, their alpha, is the worst of them all.

Blatantly relentless and twice as deadly, Greyson rules the Pack and expands its territory even though it’s already the largest in the region. I just wish he’d stop interfering with my life. He’s got enough trouble of his own with his incomplete mate bond, but he’s made it his hobby to tease and test me at every opportunity.

Doesn’t my life sound fun?

When wolves from surrounding packs start mindlessly attacking the innocent humans in our city, Timber Ridge, everything changes.

Werewolves don’t turn feral without reason. Which means someone is making this happen, and they’re targeting our Pack.

I don’t like where this is going, but how am I supposed to stop a feral wolf outbreak when I’m just one hunter? Can Greyson and I set aside our differences to see the Pack through this?

Tell any friends/family who you think might be interested in trying Pip’s story! In the meantime, thanks for reading, Champions, and welcome to 2024!

Merry Christmas 2023: Goose Girl

Merry Christmas, Champions!

I hope you’re having a delightful holiday season and are making fun new memories and/or reliving beloved family traditions! I’m still sick–yep, we’re going on week three–so my activities are still curbed, but no matter where you are and what company you’re with, I wish you a day of peace and laughter.

Today I have my traditional Christmas gift for you! As I do every year, I’ve made my novella, Goose Girl (Entwined Tales #1), free!

I love giving gifts in December to the people in my life so please think of this as my gift to you! You can grab Goose Girl for free today through December 26th.

As a royal lady’s maid, Rynn has one task: Escort the princess of Astoria to her intended’s kingdom and return home. Unfortunately for the former goose girl, the princess has other plans.

When her charge flees, Rynn’s not only forced to take the princess’s place, but she must also contend with a spiteful fairy horse, a good dose of political intrigue, and Conrad…the mysterious and all-too observant lord who consumes more of her thoughts than he should.

But with war looming on the horizon, Rynn stands to lose more than her heart. Can she convince the princess to return, end the charade, and make peace between the kingdoms?

More importantly, can she possibly avoid a death sentence when the truth is revealed?

Snag a copy for yourself, and pass the news along to anyone you think would enjoy this novella! (Important spoiler for those familiar with the original version of the Goose Girl fairy tale….the horse lives!)

But that’s not all! The Goose Girl is part of a series of novellas called the Entwined Tales series written by my fairy tale author pals. Most of the other books in this series are also free today so if you want to try these books, or if you previously read the series in Kindle Unlimited and would like your own copy, now is the time to get them!

Merry Christmas, Champions, and Happy New Year! I hope you have a special and wonderful weekend, and thanks for reading!

PS: Because I was sick this year I haven’t been able to do as much to celebrate the season with you all as I’d like. However! There’s going to be a Magiford Christmas gift in a few days, so stay tuned! 😉
