In conversation with Radhika Mukherjee, the author of ‘Our Particular Shadows’ & ‘Broken Shadows’

The Silent Women (New Flash Fiction)

And the women, they did not scream. They moved silently, carefully, strategically.

They closed in on the man with the axe and rod, who was charging at them shouting guttural obscenities.

They had their lassoes ready and their pepper spray.

As one they sprayed him, some from behind, some upwards from the front, as they bent on the ground to escape notice. In a minute they had him writhing on the ground – shrieking –

axe and rod abandoned in helplessness.

They tied him up and carried him away.

To where he would be shown a better way.

The Chasm (Weekly Photo Poem #10)

Suddenly in the mind, inspiration strikes like lightning, on witnessing lightning! Such is the magic of the monsoons!

It opens up a space in the mind, for the real, for:

The Chasm

Monsoon Beckons (Weekly Photo Poem #9)

It is a beautiful season here in India. Majestic even.

It is the time of the most fecund joy.

And the most amazing sky drama!

A Reckoning (Weekly Photo Poem #7)

A soulful #saturdaysublimity, inspired by a movie.

Can you guess which one?

Hint: Lots of superheroes jostling around…

Because (Weekly Photo Poem #6)

Because despair is an important emotion to work through.

Because finding purpose is important.

Because vulnerability and reality are inextricably intertwined.

Because strength flows most true when you accept all parts of yourself.

The STRANGER In The Mirror (Weekly Photo Poem #4)

That strange alchemy, you and a strip of reflective glass.

What does it say about you?

Are you someone you know, you recognize?

Or are you, a STRANGER?
