When Guests Demand

The below is not aimed at the overwhelming majority of those who request to guest post on Newauthoronline, The vast majority of whom I feel privileged to host. It is aimed at the minority who seek to abuse the opportunities offered by me and my fellow bloggers.

I have always considered it an honour when blog owners agree to publish a guest post authored by me. I know from running my own blog that site owners are often extremely busy and it can be a time consuming business liaising with po...

A 5 Star Review Of My Book, “Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose”

On checking my reviews today I was delighted to see that “Dalliance; A Collection Of Poetry And Prose” has received the following 5 star review,

“I loved the sheer variety of the pieces in this book – and the lyrical nature of the writing. Most beautiful. Two, in particular, stood out for me: ‘Dark Angel’ and ‘The Great Cycle’. Both evoked the connection we have with the world – though in very different ways, one being a physical bond with the natural world, the other a more inanimate ‘friend...

I
As the seasons pass
Beyond the smoke and mirrors
Have you been counting
All of the full and new moons?
Last we spoke —it wasthe last

II
Did you know, Autumn?
She’s my dearest time of year
Please wait, I’m rambling
Hermystical amber glow
Afternoons’ yellow-beauty

III
She floods all the rooms
Ah, such a sight to behold
View golden sunlight
Pass th...

Mail Order Bride

I swallowed my pride

and ordered a mail order bride.

She arrived posthaste at my place.

She was cross but pretty

Having travelled from a foreign city

In a cardboard box.

The mailman was shocked

When she knocked

To obtain release.

He called the police

Who attended our wedding feast!

Day Is Done…

This poem speaks for itself. Kevin

Every night

At this time,

When the sun

Disappears

From the sky,

I went out

To the porch

To take in

The flag.

I had learned

As a Boy Scout

That the flag

Should never

Be left

All alone

In the dark.

Tonight,

However,

A thought

Came to me

As I collected

Old Glory.

Here it was,

A long,

Holiday weekend,

And once again,

I was

All

By

Myself.

No one

Would be coming

To make sure...

Under The Stars

Looking for a saviour under the stars

Men slow then stop their cars.

Girls under street lamps stand

Waiting for their lord’s command.

Needle pricks scar their arms

Still men discern a certain charm.

Girls think of their next fix

Man moistens his dry lips.

“I seek a saviour of a kind

In the hope some inner peace I may find”

He says shuddering at her needle lines.

“Your saviour I will be

Provided you can pay my fee.

A girl must live. Love isn’t free”,

She says gazing at a distant tree.

She thin...

Should Prostitution Be Decriminilised?

Below is a discussion regarding the decision of Amnesty International to support the decriminilisation of prostitution. There are some interesting points made on both sides of the argument.

(In the UK it is legal for someone over the age of 18 to buy or sell sex provided the sex worker is not subjected to coercion. It is an absolute offence to pay for sex with a person who has been forced into prostitution irrespective of whether the person handing over money is aware that the prostitute is b...

Children

Originally posted on Nothing Gold Can Stay:

Do you remember those late summer days
When you follwed me through blueberry trees?
You wanted to kiss my blue stained lips
But I slipped from your grasp
Laughed as I skipped
Ready for the chase
I was young enough to still fear your need
Still young enough for daydreams
“Will you find me when we’ve grown?”
I asked as we jumped the bales of hay
“I’ll follow you around the world.”
You lied so easily
Do you remember when you finally caught me?
One laz...

we are
joined, but joyless – yet joy there willbe

dark turns to light with a roll of the dice
