Thai Spirit Houses
I have always wanted to visit Thailand and this post whets my appetite to do so. Kevin
No I don’t mean bars or breweries although there are plenty of both here. While it is tempting to hit one to deal with the stresses of everyday corporate life (CORPORATES ARE EVIL!), I am talking more about a little cultural phenomenon I almost overlooked. It is so easy in the daily grind to forget that I am actually living in a foreign country and while I have moved here for work, 9...

Snow
The snow came yesterday.
Ere long it went away.
The landscape it whitened overnight.
O such passing delight!

Will Spring Come Again?
The wood is dark.
The lark
Does not sing.
Will spring
Come once more
And restore
The sleeping rose?
Who knows
But one can grope

In the frozen ground
And pray for a change profound.

Ball

As evening falls over Beulah Hill.

As I wrote this, a child and an adult played ball in the garden below my home. The sound brought to mind lying in bed at boarding school (I was sick), as children played football in the playground below my window. The poem was penned today (as the game took place).

A Great Review Of “Lost In The Labyrinth Of My Mind”
I was delighted to receive the below 5 star review of my collection of poems, “Lost In The Labyrinth Of My Mind”,
“This is the third book of poetry I have reviewed by this author, so my expectations were rather high. I did a full reading to get the overall feel for
the poems and the book. This is very much an autumn, winter book of poetry; the time of year when the landscape appears to die leaving one melancholy and
introspective about life in general. But this is not to say that there aren’t...

January
Of winters jealous under bridges
lost in white powder above bars
I’ve not a favourite, each so endless
but this year I almost –
resurrected myself, in the frost
wreck me endlessly, tactlessly
this stretch of winter grey ahead
this year not so terrible, not quite dead
and yet –
California does not wait at the end

“Ghosts of Chechnya” By Jenny Ensor
My acquaintance, Jenny Ensor, is looking for funding to turn her novel, “Ghosts Of Chechnya” in to an ebook. The synopsis on Jenny’s Unbound page reads as follows:
“Ghosts of Chechnya explores love and friendship, and the impact of war and terrorism on our lives. Georgie, a young London woman who’s been deeply hurt
in the past, tells the story. It begins in London in early 2005, the year of the bus and Tube bombings.
Georgie meets Russian former conscript soldier Nikolai in a pub after she i...
