An Encounter

As a newly opened flower reaching for the sun
Your day has barely begun.
Would that I could stay here for a while
Talking to a girl without guile.

I wonder, would you smile
Where I to relate my thought?
And would I wriggle like a fish on a hook caught?
And wish
For the floor to open,
For words can not be unspoken.

You say
“Have a nice day”
But not in the American way.
I smile
Turn, and join the crocodile
Of commuters who have somewhere to go.

Getting Up Early

Getting up in the early morning now, the world is a little darker.
As I get older, matters are ever starker.
The birds still trill
And oft times unchill
My heart,
But it is getting dark
Though the sun
Will rise as he must.
Man is dust
Dancing in beams of sunlight,
A brief delight,
Then good night.

Be The One!

spCw1w

Children are malleable and therefore can be influenced greatly by their parents, siblings, teachers, and other people in their lives.

It’s important to be a good role model and to encourage good behavior so that they grow up to be productive citizens of society. But, we’re not just trying to raise productive citizens, are we? No, we are raising children to be adults who can think for themselves, are independent people, and are influencers in the world. We don’t want to raise automotons, we w...

The Best Poetry Anthologies Every Poetry Fan Should Own

Interesting Literature

Five of the best collections of English poetry

What are the best English poetry anthologies? And how would one define ‘best’? The answer, of course, is that it’s always going to be subjective to a point. But it’s worth having a go at picking the greatest anthologies from which the poetry fan can choose. The poetry anthology is a great way not only of revisiting old favourites, but of discovering new poets. In this post, we’ve turned our attention to a kind of book that...

Summer Bee

A drowsy summer’s hum.
A bee does come
And settles
Into pettles
Soft and moist.
He has no choice
Other than to sweet nectar drink
And into bliss, sink.

A Review of my collection of poetry, “Refractions”

I was pleased to receive the below review for my recently released collection of poetry, “Refractions”:

“This is the 3rd book of poetry I review for the author, K.Morris. This volume entitled Refractions, alluding to the different meanings an author sees in
his poetry and the meaning the reader ultimately sees, all subjective in meaning and effect. To pull this off, the poems must reach a certain level of
maturity. In this, we are not let down. I find the maturity of the poems a step ahead o...

Now Arriving on the New York Subway: Free E-Books, Timed for Your Commute…

Chris The Story Reading Ape's Blog

Extract from an article in the New York Times Online:

Rainier Velardo watched the basketball-player-tall man in the blue shirt who sat down next to him — the man had gotten on at the last subway stop, West Fourth Street in Manhattan, and this was an F train going to Brooklyn.

Mr. Velardo watched the man tap the screen of an iPad. He heard the man chuckle and say: “You’d think I would know this. I wrote it.” And then, with even more of a chuckle, “Didn’t se...
