Unbrollied
The pleasure
Of hot
Weather.
Knowing not
Whether
The rain will come.
A cloud burst.
Relieves a thirst.
The rain does run.
But the pleasure
Of hot, wet weather
Soon is done.
And the wise,
Gazing into a stranger’s eyes,
Know that ’tis folly
To forget a brolly.
Yet, they still thirst
For the cloud to burst.
And the pleasure
Of hot wet weather
On unbrollied skin.
So take the rain in.

Said, “sir, I really do like you!”.
I said, “that’s real nice.
But you’ve told me twice!
And with Sue it’s more than 2!”.

Lonely Train
I have no resistance
To the lonely train
Which calls
From the distance.
Nor to the rain
Which falls,
In this dark park.

Toryism
When a young man whose name is Rory
Said, “sir, I’ve heard your politics are Tory”.
I said, “your friend Monk
Is drunk as a skunk.
And you should never discuss politics, young Rory!”.

I said, “that Miss Witty
Is more than just pretty.
But I don’t know if she’s a Tory!”.

Pleasure and Pain
A young lady whose name is Jane
Is an expert in pleasure and pain.
She is tall and thin
And fond of her gin.
And they say Jane owns a cane!
Choice
She left her heels on,
The points facing the ceiling.
Then,When she was gone
He pondered on
His feelings.
And choose.
And sexy shoes.

Thoughts in the Early Morning
The time
‘Twixt the dark
And the light.
A rhyme
About the start
Of the eternal night.
When A Naive Young Lady Named Eve
When a naive young lady named Eve
Said, “Steve, I order you to leave!”.
I said, have you no shame,
That is certainly not my name!
And this place is mine, Miss Eve!”.

Flow and Pearl
A young lady called Miss Flow
(whose mother I happen to know),
Is a very good girl
(unlike that Miss Pearl).
As all the young gentlemen know!

Possible Author Newsletter
A couple of days back, a colleague dropped me an email saying that she was moving on to pastures new, and asking that I keep in touch with news about my poetry.
My colleague’s email got me thinking (not for the first time), that I should, perhaps start an occasional newsletter concerning my poetry, books I have enjoyed reading Etc.
There are a fair few friends and acquaintences who enjoy my poetry but who do not visit my blog on a regular basis. Of course I can email friends on an informal bas...
