Eternity
On my walks
I often find
That inner talk
Distracts my mind.
Then, the breeze
Rustles Autumn leaves
Reminding me
Of eternity.
Is Pop Poetry?
The media recently carried a story concerning the singer Taylor Swift and how her music is to be studied at the University of Texas alongside the works of Chaucer, Shakespeare and Keats. An example of the coverage can be found here, https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/taylor-swift-university-degree-texas-b2151492.html.
I am no musical snob. The music of Oasis, the Beatles, REM, Dido, Edele and Lana Del Rey all give me pleasure, and I frequently listen to the forgoing art...

The Arty Swingers Party
When I went to a swingers party
With my friend who is very arty,
Pretty Miss Ling
Painted a swing,
And my friend she painted that party!
Kate’s Improper Date
There was a young lady named Kate
Who went on a most improper date.
The vicar was there
With his mistress Claire,
And a waitress who just couldn’t wait …!
When a Young Lady in a Hurry
When a young lady in a hurry
Fell into a hot plate of curry,
A diner from Madras
Raised his wine glass,
And toasted that girl and his curry!

Forest of black
When the wind that blows through the trees
Turns into a cold breeze
When the blissful solitude takes to the savor
Of bitter loneliness
When isolation adopts the distinct flavour
Of psychosis
I know then that the shadows ain’t tailing
Far behind me
And I’ll be forced to flee
Out into the meadow
To step out
Into the sun
Out of my black forest’s
dubious cradle
Where I’m sure to seek shade and refuge
Soon once again
I Always Return
I always return
To the tick tock
Of the clock,
From which I learn
To accept and respect
That I
Will die.

When You First Came
When you first came
Your hair was drenched
From the London rain.
My thirst
I quenched
But first
I dried the rain.
I forget your name
But remember the rain
And your drenched hair
Which I took care
To dry. I
Saw you again.
But forget the name.

Civilisation
A lightning flash
The splash
Of urban rain.
The roar
Of Thor
In London town.
Civilisation goes down
In fire
And rain.

A Young Lady from Crystal Palace
A young lady from Crystal Palace
Is known to me as Alice.
She calls men her honey
And steals all their money.
And now she’s buying a palace!
