Hello and welcome to the Writing Opportunities...
Hello and welcome to the Writing Opportunities tumblr!
It’s all in the name: Writing Opportunities, specific and general, to be shared.
Why? Because if no one had shared specific writing opportunities with me, I would have never even known I could submit or find work as a writer. Thanks to the kindness of others, I have found some success in my goals as a writer, and I’m a strong believer in paying it forward. This is not a grab bag, this is a door we have to hold open for each other.
There are a variety of reasons why certain voices have been left out of the published and academic literary world. One of the main reasons is the way writing opportunities are shared, email lists you have to request to be on, people you might have to know. Many people are afraid that sharing opportunities might present them with unnecessary competition. I believe sharing opportunities breathes new life into literature and any new voices discovered in the process have the possibility of benefiting all of us, readers and writers alike.
In short, hello - you are wanted. It is not that hard to get published. I know you are most likely already writing on tumblr for free. And rest assured, someone out there is writing the same thing worse than you and possibly gaining compensation for it. Step your game up and get yours.
Welcome, follow, boost, and submit. And of course, submit and apply to as many opportunities as you see fit. And share your success!
