What’s in a kiss?
What’s in a kiss?
The definition of kiss is to touch with the lips. Well, there is so much more meaning than that. When I think of a kiss several things come to mind. It’s wet, dry, hard soft, sensual, sexy, quick, long, slow, and the list goes on. A kiss can be between two friends in greeting or two lovers as a sign of affection. When it’s the latter, deep emotional feelings can take root.
Do you remember your first kiss? Was it awful, dry, a French kiss or did it curl your toes? For me, my first kiss was with a guy I had a ginormous crush on. He was tall with blond hair that fell over his eyes and a smile to die for. The funny thing about him was I didn’t even like guys with blond hair. Anyway, all my friends had been kissed and told me it was terrible. Nervous as hell, I braced myself for the disappointment. I didn’t want my first kiss to be awful. Would it ruin the fantasy I had in my head? But kissing Danny was far from a disappointment. I still have vivid memories of that kiss. How he cupped my face with his large hands. How he slowly bent forward, his hair falling over his eyes. And how he pressed his lips to mine. A tingling sensation coursed through me in anticipation. His lips were soft. His kiss was gentle, and oh, my. It was definitely toe curling, especially when our tongues touched. He ruined me for all other guys that came after him until I met my husband.
I believe you can tell a lot about a person through a kiss. I also believe that a kiss can lock together two souls for a moment in time or a lifetime. In Dare to Kiss, Lacey finds solace in Kade’s kiss. His kiss tells her that he might be a badass on the outside, but inside he has a gentle soul.
The story of Dare to Kiss is about learning ways to heal from tragedy. It’s about pushing through your demons and doing the things in life that you love. It’s about two people who share grief, and find love. It’s about family, friends, and one kiss
—Kade’s kiss.
His kisses always took me to a peaceful place—one where I was free of my demons.

“Who are You?” By Wendy Kupinewicz
“Who are You?” By Wendy Kupinewicz
Who are you? Wait, do you know?
Are you defined by where you go?
Or what you say, or wear, or be?
Or where you live or what you see?
Or what you drive or what you need?
Or what you want or what you read?
If you changed what’s at your core,
Would those who love you, love you more?
Would you love you differently?
Would you see the you they see?
Maybe not and maybe so.
Perhaps less is more, you know?
So…
Love those we love for love alone.
Increase our kindness, soften tone.
Be ourselves, and soldier on.
Keep living ‘til the life is gone.
Be proud of all you are and do.
I love you all for being YOU!
Wendy, thank you for allowing me to use this poem. There’s so much meaning to every word and every line. You’re an inspiration, a poet and a great friend.

Dare to Kiss – Book Trailer
Dare to Kiss – Book Trailer
Besides her family, Lacey Robinson’s only other love is baseball. She’s on top of the world when Arizona State University approaches her to discuss a scholarship. To play for a college boys’ team is beyond what she has ever dreamed. Her fastball is impeccable, her slider equally as good, and her curveball annihilates anyone who dares to step in the batter’s box. But fate has its own way of throwing curveballs. When she looses her mother and sister to a home invasion, baseball and her dreams die with them. Tragedy has a way of seeping deep into her psyche, causing nightmares, panic attacks and blackouts. Diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, her psychiatrist recommends a change of scenery and picking up the things that she loved to do, and for Lacey that is baseball.
After a move clear across the country, only two things matter to Lacey—overcome her PTSD and make Kensington High’s baseball team. But trying out for the team comes with complications—the captain, Aaron Seever, doesn’t want a girl on the team.
Adding to her new life, she never counted on meeting someone who wants her as badly as Kade Maxwell. The tall, sexy and drool-worthy bad boy has a magical touch that awakens her feminine side, and a kiss that slowly erases her nightmares. But getting involved with him may be dangerous when Kade’s arch-nemesis returns to town to settle a vendetta.
To complicate matters, her PTSD has taken a turn for the worse. She has to find a way to push away the demons otherwise she may not have a chance at anything in life.

Have you struggled with writing book descriptions?
Have you struggled with writing book descriptions?
As an author, I’ve pulled out my hair writing a book description, only to delete what I’ve written and start all over again. I repeat this process numerous times. Even when I finally finish with the summary, I’m still not sure if I have the right ingredients, the catchy words and the hook to grab reader’s attention until now.
“Hook, Tagline, and Sinker: Writing Irresistible Book Descriptions” will guide you through step by step.
Have you ever wondered?
How do I pick my ingredients?
How long should a description be?
How do I convey the plot?
Should I write it past tense or present tense?
What is the proper POV?
Is word choice important
How many words should my summary be?
What about tone?
All these questions and more are answered in the book. I especially loved the chapter on Genre Specifics: Flavor of the Month. This chapter takes you through each genre with what ingredients should be in each. For example, a romance description will begin with the internal conflict of the lead character in the first paragraph, whereas, in a mystery the external conflict will often appear in the first paragraph.
Finally, the last chapter explains tactics and tricks to avoid. I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a guide in writing that killer book description.

Author Spotlight – Ghiselle St. James
Author Spotlight – Ghiselle St. James
Today I would like to welcome author, GHISELLE ST. JAMES, and introduce you to a fabulous lady. Her novel, South Row debuted in March 2014 and has garnered rave reviews for the depth and passion of the characters and the story. Let’s get to know more about Ghiselle.
Susan: What inspired you to focus on the Erotica Genre?
Ghiselle: I have been obsessed with sex for a very long time, since my early teens. One day, I picked up a pen and a book and I started writing my very first story. A scene between two teenagers turned mildly erotic and I haven’t been able to stop writing about sex since.
Susan: What sparked the idea for South Row?
Ghiselle: I honestly could not tell you! Lol!! I was sleeping one night, and I had a vision of this girl with beautiful red hair and striking blue eyes. Her name came to me right in my sleep, South Row. I jumped up, grabbed my cell phone (because that’s where I do MOST of my writing) and wrote down everything that came to me in my dream. After twenty minutes, I had the title, the main characters, a blurb, and how I wanted to start the novel. As I said in the beginning of the book, the whole thing was like my very own writer’s Culpo di Fulmine (lightning bolt…I think that’s what that means in Italian…Lol)
Susan: How long did it take you to write?
Ghiselle: It took me three months to write and another month to get everything edited. Plus another week to get up the courage to publish, and then a few days to finally hit the publish button and wait for the greatest thing to ever happen to me happen.
Susan: What is your favorite thing about writing?
Ghiselle: My favorite thing about writing is character and story development. These work in tandem for me. The development of the story is dependent on the development of each character. I enjoy weaving a story based on interesting characters. I will have a character sketch in my head, and by the time I get into the story, certain aspects of the character changes…deepens, and so does the story. I get so engrossed at times that I get lost and I’m like a reader again, shouting at my characters, or being weird and saying, “Awwww…”
Susan: What is your least favorite thing about writing?
Ghiselle: My least favorite thing is the “voices”. When I’m writing, all these other ideas seem to pop up…and I mean A LOT of other ideas, for other novels in particular. I have to stop and try not to forget what I was writing before just so I can jot down the idea that just came to me. Sometimes I forget what I was writing before & it really messes with my mojo. Sometimes I stop writing the previous story altogether because the juice just keeps flowing for the other story. It’s like I’ve got writer’s ADD. It’s a blessing and a curse though! J
Susan: Tennis shoes, high heels or flip-flops?
Ghiselle: Damn, this is a hard one! Can’t I just say all? Hmm….ok. So, I love tennis shoes/flats for normal walk around and hanging out. Heels are for dates, church, work…and strip dances or role play with the hubby. Flip flops are for round the house since I hardly go barefoot. If I had an absolute preference though, it would be tennis shoes/flats.
Susan: What is the oldest thing in your fridge and how old is it?
Ghiselle: The oldest thing in my fridge is leftover corned beef. It’s been in my fridge since early MAY! Gross. Right? Lol!!!
Susan: What would readers be surprised to learn about you?
Ghiselle: Readers would be surprised to know that I can be VERY shy. Also, they would be shocked about half the shit I have gone through…but that’s for the memoirs I may never write J
Susan: What can readers expect from you in the future?
Ghiselle: More writing and more antics. LOL! I have a new novel series coming out soon and it is much more erotic than my debut. I also have book 2 to write from my debut, which is another stand-alone. I have about 8 novels with blurbs ready for writing, one that I have gone 4 chapters in and another that only has half a chapter so far. I just hope to keep people entertained in the future. J
Susan: What advice would you give a new Indie author just starting out?
Ghiselle: STICK WITH IT! You WILL get discouraged. There will be times when you don’t write for days, weeks…MONTHS! But you must NEVER give up. Even if you get a bad review…or 10, don’t let anyone discourage you from your passion. Never compare yourself to other authors because you have something to offer that they haven’t given yet, and if you give up, how will we readers get a taste of it? Just before the prologue, in my novel South Row has a dedication that says: Never give up on your dreams. If writing is your dream, pursue it with all you’ve got. I did, and I am so proud of myself for it.
MORE ABOUT THE TALENTED GHISELLE ST. JAMES
Tobias James, writing under the pen name of Ghiselle St. James was born and raised in Jamaica, West Indies.
Born to a teacher for a mother and a graphic artist for a father, she developed a knack for writing as early as 9 years old, writing songs for her adoptive sister. By thirteen Ghiselle was writing mildly erotic content for her high school audience, where she became very popular with the boys. For years, she had stopped writing novels, having found an intense love for music. For a while, her dream was to become a singer, but writing was still in her veins. From writing songs to poems, Ghiselle poured her heart out on paper.
After graduating high school, she attended the Jamaica Theological Seminary where she received a Bachelor degree in Social Work with honors. It was upon graduating that her writing instincts kicked into overdrive, writing some of her deepest, most touching poems, social commentary with a comedic flair, and finally, her very first adult novel.
Being the perfectionist she is, Ghiselle refused to release this book for publication as she did not feel confident about her writing. While completing her third novel, she was inspired to write South Row, after getting a vision of the title and blurb in her dreams. She fell in love with the story immediately and worked tirelessly to complete it.
MORE ABOUT THE BOOK – SOUTH ROW.
Synopsis:
Southerlynn Row crept into my bed one night and I don’t know how it happened, but one minute I was telling her to leave and the next…well, the next I was her first, and then she disappeared from my life like a specter in the night, and I never saw her again.
For ten years I wondered where she was, and for ten years I’ve been haunted by her memory. I am locked into a union I do not want to be in, with a woman that I do not love. Because even after ten years this redhead still haunts my dreams and my fantasies. Just when I think that I’ve buried that part of my life. The past comes back with a vengeance.
A night out with the boys at a strip club was what I needed after a long and grueling case that I ended up winning. I wasn’t prepared for who I’d see headlining the stage that night, though. And once I saw her, my heart – and other…um, organs – started pulsating again.
******
Ten years ago, I seduced the man I loved and walked out of his life. Ten years later, I plan on doing it again. If only I can stop embarrassing myself in front of him: like face-planting on the floor during a sexy dance as I try to lure him back into my life, and my lacy boy shorts.
I’ve had a messed up past, but Collin Danes made it all worth it to experience day by day. I spent ten years of my life without him. I refuse to do it again.
I’m all grown up, and I won’t rest until I get what I want.
This book contains graphic violence, sexual content and adult situations that are for mature readers only. There are accounts of physical and emotional abuse, which may be triggers for some readers.
