Featured Swag Supplier and a Giveaway: LightShine Designs
The LightShine Designs Story:
Jewelry, Photography and Graphic Design
as told by Rebecca Lee Mincey, owner
[image error]
I started making jewelry in November of 2011. It started with wire wrapping stones that I had which were raw from my trips mining in upstate North Carolina.
Soon after selling a few pendants, I branched on to buy charms, crystals, glass, and other jewelry findings to create jewelry.
I started up my FB Business page in late 2011. And then opened my Etsy shop in February of 2012.
I came up with the LightShine Designs name one night lying in bed. I had been trying to decide the name for a few weeks and randomly the children's song "this little light of mine." Popped into my head, and it was born. Sounded catchy and bright so it stuck !! My business motto is..
"Not everyday shines, but that doesn't mean you can't shine everyday."
I have been doing photography since I was 21. I am self taught, and mostly deal in natural and fine art prints.
I recently started doing portraiture for people in my local area. I strive to be one of a kind, unique, versatile, and affordable.
I also offer various forms of graphic art using my own prints or files sent to me by clients.
I aim to satisfy every customer/client I have. Custom orders are done to client specifications, and I welcome all input in order to create the pieces they envision. I work with authors to recreate pieces featured in their books or to make pieces which symbolize what their books mean to them. I welcome custom orders of all types from necklaces, charm bracelets, earrings, bookmarks, you name it.
Most recently...
Rebecca has created a site geared towards combining great books with her graphic designs and jewelry making. This offers additional exposure for authors and amazing giveaways for readers with LightReads.
Currently, she features one author a month. Check out the May Author, Book, and Giveaway on LightReads.

Excerpt:
Forever by Design copyright 2013 Elizabeth James
Justin's POV
Through her tears, she nodded. “It’s perfect, just like you. I love you.” She brushed the hair out of my eyes and stood on her toes to kiss me softly. I wrapped my arms around her and held her against my chest. She turned slightly to get closer and I placed my hand on her tummy. I felt Ryder move against my hand and my heart swelled with love. I couldn’t wait to meet our little man and see how beautiful he would be.
“I love you too, babe,” I whispered. “I hope little Ryder has his mom’s good looks and beautiful soul.” I gently kissed her. Her eyes tilted up to look at me and I saw those beautiful green eyes brimming with tears. One single tear slipped out and rolled down her cheek. I cupped her face and wiped the tear away with my thumb. I kissed where it had been then feathered kisses over to her full bottom lip which was quivering now as she tried to hold back her tears.

Review: Epic: Legacy by Justin Osborne

Blurb:
Almost a billion people have simply vanished in the last six months.
Deacon’s mother sends him to stay with his eccentric uncle Evon in an effort to keep him safe. Upon his arrival, he learns that his uncle is more than a little on the strange side, he was once a legendary hero.
At first Deacon is reluctant to believe his uncle’s stories, but after meeting his brownie butler, dwarf wife, not to mention the dragon head mounted as a trophy in the foyer, Deacon is starting to come around.
After drinking too much ‘Meadale’ the night before, Deacon accidently falls through a Faerie Mound in his uncle’s backyard, where he ends up trapped in Avalon, a doomed world where all our myths and legends are real, and the only way back home is the badly wounded (and pissed off) faerie that brought him there.
Deacon’s quest to get help for the injured faerie lands him in the village of Fen Glennan, where his uncle is a hero and he is an untrusted outsider from the horrific world of Abaddon (Earth). During his stay, He finds a few friends, a few enemies, and perhaps even love.
Upon his return to Earth, Deacon is forced to carry on his uncles ‘legacy’ and fulfill his dying wish, save the people of Fen Glennan and as many in Avalon as he can before it’s destruction.
Elle's Review:
“All right, this could be epic.”
When I sat down to read EPIC: Legacy, I wasn’t sure what to
expect. The synopsis teased impending world destruction and some serious
hi-jinks after a night of boozing. There was also something intriguing about
the details within the synopsis.
MEET THE HERO:
“We are all quite fond of the idea
of the hero arriving in the nick of time…We’re so used to it in fact, that we
take it for granted. To think that there could be any other outcome is almost
inconceivable…But sometimes, things don’t go the way we want or expect.”
For most of the novel, the narrator focused on Deacon’s
journey.
Deacon McTaggart isn’t the typical knight in shining
armor. In his eyes there’s nothing extraordinary about himself. He’s just a guy
who loves playing his guitar.
“Deacon thought of
himself as just an average looking young man. He was 5’7”, lean
build, longish
black hair, and eyes the color of faded denim”
Beneath his laid back appearance, is a kind-hearted, noble
guy.
“…they saw him as the ‘Bullies Bully’. If someone decided
to pick on another that was smaller and weaker, he was there to put a stop to
it.”
Although Deacon doesn’t go looking for trouble, it finds him
throughout the book. Never once does he back down.
“He smiled and
raised both middle fingers through his fists. ‘Deacon, Deacon
McTaggart’.”
THE TALE OF TWO
CONFLICTS:
In the first few chapters, the story’s foundation was laid
before my eyes, and before I knew it I was hooked. The author wasted no time
before shoving Deacon head first in to turmoil. The narrator’s pace varied
based on the mood of the scene, which helped keep my attention on the events of
the ever-changing story.
When the moments were tense and Deacon’s conflicts were
outside forces, the pace quickened. However, there were a lot of introspective
moments for Deacon as well. When the conflict became his internal struggle, the
pace was deliberate and meticulous, allowing the reader to soak in every detail
within the scene and reflect with him.
“He had never
killed anything before…Could he bring himself to do it? Deacon kept telling
himself that it was self-defense. Wasn’t it? If it came down to his life or
something trying to end it, he really didn’t have a choice, did he? Kill or be
killed, right?”
“He also had to live up to his uncle’s name. After all,
the man was a damned hero to these people and to most of Avalon too, for that
matter. Deacon did not want to be the one to tarnish his uncle’s reputation.”
IT’S ALL IN THE
DETAILS:
Within the pages of Deacon’s journey are several chapters
narrated about other characters. I loved the author’s incorporation of the
different characters’ views. I learned what motivated the villains to destroy
Avalon and was shown what happened outside of Fen Glennan while Deacon was
trapped there. These chapters were a creative way to show a lapse in time in
Deacon’s world while giving the reader another piece of the story.
The imagery throughout the entire novel was incredible. As I
read along, it was like a movie was playing inside my head. Descriptions of the
settings and characters were so picturesque, it was like a movie was playing
inside my head as I read each line.
SEALED WITH A
KISS:
Something else I would like to commend the author on is how
he incorporated romance in to the plot. Romance was referenced in the synopsis
and present within the text; however, it was more of an underlying thread
instead of being the main focus driving the characters.
This novel wasn’t about
the relationship between a boy and a girl but the relationship between a boy
and himself. One minute Deacon was fighting for his life and the next he was
fighting to come to terms with his place in the McTaggart legacy.
“Ah, the naivety
of youth. When we know everything and are completely confidant in our ability
to control our fates, luckily for most, it doesn’t take long before we
understand that we know absolutely nothing.”
ENCORE: BUILT IN PLAYLIST
Often times an author or reader will compose a play list of
songs to go along with a novel. These can be songs referenced in the story or
songs that remind the person of a particular scene or character. To my surprise
and delight, Justin Osborne has embedded a play list within the text of EPIC:
Legacy. Each chapter title is also the title of a song. I highly recommend that
you listen to each song as you read along with its companion chapter.

Cover Reveal & Review: The Enforcer by Nikki Worrell

Book reveal trailer:
Blurb:
Lacey Benoit is in need of a fresh start. Her best friend, Dr. Zoe Millis, has been begging her to make the move from Maine to California. Taking a leap of faith, Lacey does just that.
Living in San Diego definitely has its perks, such as, sunshine and beaches. The best part of moving to the west coast, however, is that Steven is still on the east coast. Catching your almost husband having sex with one of your bridesmaids on your wedding day would make even the strongest woman jaded. Therefore, Lacey has sworn off men for a while, especially men who travel a lot that have easy access to loose women.
When Lacey meets the new enforcer for the San Diego Scorpions, she thinks she might be in trouble. But she is determined to fight her attraction to the sexy NHL hunk. And she is successful...for about a day.

Review by Alexis:
I never thought in a million
years that I would find the game of hockey not only interesting but also a bit
(ok maybe a lot) sexy. I think the last
part may have something to do with an Enforcer by the name of Jody
LaGrange. The Enforcer was a
funny and passionate read that I could not put down. The author, Nikki Worrell did a fantastic job
on her debut novel and I cannot wait to read more, especially the second book
in this series. I usually don’t like to
read books written in the third person, but this book was written so well.
You are everything I could ever hope to find
in a man. You’re the best of the best
and I’m so lucky to have you. ~Lacey
Lacey Benoit has hit a rough
patch in her life. She lost her brother
in an unfortunate accident and she walked in on her ex-fiancée having sex with
her friend on their wedding day. When her best friend Zoe (who I also want as
my best friend) tells her that there is a job opening in the HR Department for
The San Diego Scorpions she decides to leave Maine and move to sunny San
Diego. I absolutely loved Lacey; she was
such a fresh breath of air. Lacey is
able to overcome losses in her life which shows the reader her strength as a
female character and she is absolutely hysterical; I was laughing out loud!
You
take my breath away, Angel. ~Jody
Jody LaGrange has just been hired
as the new Enforcer for the San Diego Scorpions. The Enforcer in hockey has one
purpose and that is to protect their teammates on the ice. Jody also has that approach off the ice. His father left when Jody was young, so he
grew up protecting his mom and younger sister.
When he meets Lacey, he wants nothing more than to protect and care for
her. Jody is one hot, alpha-male. Their first date was as Jody would say,
“spec-fucking-tacular.” I would love to
have my own Jody, not sure my husband would approve though.
For you.
For you and your family. For opening your home to my family. For not
taking no for an answer when I didn’t want a relationship. For so many things. Thank you. ~Lacey
The chemistry between Lacey and Jody was off the charts! I enjoyed their flirty texts and
long-standing joke. If you are looking for a great, steamy, thrilling read then
you definitely need to give this book a try.
I don’t know how to describe what I
feel. It’s like wherever we are, when
I’m with you, I feel like I’m home. ~Jody
I give this book 4 stars.

Author Bio:
I am a country girl at heart who tends to like the simple things ... and hockey. Give me a hockey game and I'm set! During intermissions, I read. Reading has always been a love of mine since I was a little girl. The books have gotten a bit spicier through the years of course! I also like moonlit walks on the beach, strawberries and champagne (ok, dirty martinis actually), and a strong man to hold me...etc., etc., etc. ;)
I live in Hammonton, NJ with my husband of over 18 years. It's not always easy but it's always worth it.
I have a B.S.B.A. in Human Resources and work for a law firm in Philadelphia. The only thing left to say is....GO FLYERS!

“My mind absorbed everything in the spell book I clutched tightly to me. Pages ruffled inside of my head, urging me to remember things and then to forget them. Each stroke brought blood to the surface, imprinting words I could not read; words that would forever change who I was.”

Author Bio:
Sonya Loveday, first and foremost is a reader, an avid one. It is of that love that brought her to the realization that this was the answer to the nagging persistent feeling that ‘there’s got to be something more’.
The dream came alive in 2009 when she purchased her laptop and began the tedious step of becoming a published author.
When she’s not reading, she’s writing. When she’s not writing, she’s reading. And when she’s not doing either of those things she’s sleeping, shuttling her children back and forth to school, letting the dogs and cats in and out of the house for the umpteenth time in the last hour and dreaming of a clean house.

Spotlight: Hell's Gate by Ben Daniels

Blurb:
The gates of Hell are open. Angels and Demons fight for our
mortality and dominance of earth. The rapture diminishes the human population
and very few remain to defend what God gave us. It is up to the Angels to fight
the war, the humans to survive and the druids to protect the earth.
Cole wants nothing more than to be left alone until the war
is over and see who wins. He doesn't care for rules of any kind and wants least
of all to choose a side. Fate however, has different plans for him. His only
friend is being held hostage by a Demon with a plan to win the war and return
the earth to what it once was. It is up to him to rescue her with the help of a
fallen Angel who comes to his aid to ensure his survival.
The Druids are the only ones who can save his friend, but
they have an agenda of their own. The demon is demented but has the best
intentions with what she believes. Cole finds himself lusting after the fallen
Angel and must choose between her and saving his friend. The problem is that he
doesn't know who he can trust.
Armageddon is here and Hell on earth has just begun.

Excerpt:
"Well now, children. Who decided to play and did not
invite me to join?” Her voice is feminine, seductive and teasing with
sexuality. I can’t see her yet, but the tone is that of a very beautiful woman.
Vera's voice holds the same electric currents in it, but I’m not attracted to
this one.
Vera's voice sounds strained, as if she’d been talking for
hours. Like she is just waking in the morning and isn't functioning quite
right. "Thank you for answering my call, Lilith."
"I'm not answering your call Vera, you assume too much.
You sent out a beacon for aid, that much you did, but you see you're on my
lands and a beacon must be answered by the enforcers. I just can’t allow it to
happen." Her voice isn't as pleasant. "You have all broken Demonic
law. I was not informed any of you would be here. It is within my rights to
kill you."
She’s beautiful. Her hair is fire truck red, it curls
naturally down her back and follows her soft jaw. Her eyes are fierce with the
color of a deep emerald. She has skin as pale as the full moon in the middle of
the night. A short dress barely covers what she has to show. The dress hangs
low on her breasts with circles cut out of the midriff leaving a single strip
running across her stomach into a pair of panty bottoms with a loin cloth that
is higher in the front than the back. Black boots run up her legs with the
dress hiding the top of the boots. Her wings are reddish brown and look like leather.
They don’t compare to those of an angel but are more like those of a bat. The
stories at least get some things right.
She leans closer to whisper softly in Vera's ear. “Now what
should I do?” She curls her mouth into a scary smile. Whatever she is planning,
she’s going to enjoy it.

Spotlight: Blood Rose by Jacquelynn Gagne

Blurb:
It’s true no one can out run Death. But Death doesn’t always
want your existence. In Lianna’s case wants her mortality.
Long have Lianna’s dreams been a window into another time. A place that is as
magnificent as it is dark. Frightened and weary from the physical toll the
nightmares take on her body she turns to her psychic friend for guidance, which
results in prophetic visions of Lianna’s death.
Mercenaries come after Lianna to stop her from fulfilling her
fate. A destiny at her beloved’s side while rediscovering the real magic within
her. Facing demise brought down on her by the hands of the mercenaries, the
power of love offers her a new life as a vampire which ultimately fulfills the
same epic fate the murderous villains fought to keep her from.
Excerpt:
There was an alley to the right. Too small for the car, or
could he follow? Would it be a dead end and he’d have me cornered? It was my
only chance. I lunged for its opening.
My knee gave as my foot twisted off the curb sending me
stumbling forward. My arms thrust out instinctively. I landed snapping my wrist
back. They hadn’t softened the blow to my face as I hit the cold wet concrete.
Blood spattered from my nose and mouth. My lungs were too
fatigued to even muster a scream. Instead this sickened pathetic whimper
gurgled out through the stream of blood.
As I lay there, trying to muster enough will to get up, the
tires squealed to a stop right next to me. My ears rang in a high-pitched echo
combined with the sound of my blood rushing in my ears. “Anna!”
My whole body shook violently when I heard a rough baritone
voice scream my name in an intense rage. There was no way I could run from him
anymore. Would I die here? Would he take me somewhere else to prolong my
suffering? How long would it take?
Another dark thought. Is this what Neesa and her mother had
seen?
Futilely my eyes closed. If I had to be conscious, I refused
to watch my own death. “Anna! Look at me!” One hand held onto my shoulder
turning me slowly as another hand carefully took a hold of my chin, tilting it
up and making me cough on my own blood.
“No.” Worthlessly defiant. I gurgled coughing on the blood
filling my mouth relentlessly.
“Alright. Just hang
on. I’m going to move you, okay,” his voice filled with laughter. Though weak
and painful, it flooded with the sound of relief.
“No!” The scream was weak and sprayed blood as I spoke. My
hand shot up defensively swiping at his face to try to push him away from me.
The hand at my chin released to take my wrist gently.
