We Have A Winner
As you may have noticed I was running a giveaway to coincide with the launch of The Dali Deception. And that giveaway was for a Kindle Paperwhite and a set of lockpicks.
Well I’m happy to say that the winner has been drawn and notified and this will be winging its way to them today!
Sorry for all those who entered and didn’t win but hopefully some consolation that everyone who entered got a bunch of free ebooks.

Talking about Dali
Some authors have blog tours. Those authors are well organised, forward thinking individuals.
I am not one of those (yet!) but there is coverage that I have been lucky enough to benefit from (or even organised myself in some cases) and thought it would be good to collect them all in one place for anyone who might be interested.
Special mention should go to Donna Roussel who inadvertantly became the first blogger to review my first novel!
Chocolate N Waffles – Book Review 4.5* out of 5
CrimeFictionLover – On The Radar (new release mention)
Postcard Reviews – 4* book review and Q&A with yours truly
Rabid Readers – 5* review “…something that Ealing Studios might have released in the 60’s”
Linda’s Book Blog – Guest blog (& giveaway) talking about writing crime fiction and children’s fiction.
Chocolate N Waffles – Book of the month
Espresso Coco – Book review
My Chestnut Reading Tree – Book review
Little Bookness Lane – 4* book review
Cheryl MM’s Book Blog – Book review
Crime Book Junkie – Book Review 4.5* out of 5

The Dali Deception is coming…
Five criminals. Two forgeries. And one masterpiece of a heist.
We are officially four days away from the publication of my first adult novel!!! And no, I haven’t gone all 50 shades, I mean ‘not for children’ rather than ‘slap and tickle’… get your mind out of the gutter.
But I digress!
The 20th June 2016 will see the much-anticipated first novel featuring a whole new cast of characters and starting a whole new series of novels.
And things have already started well. I have been lucky enough to get a blurb for the book from The Guardian and it goes a little something like this:
“Adam Maxwell is the indie writing scene’s sharpest wit, and the Dali Deception is his slickest, funniest – and surrealist – caper yet.”
Damien Walter, Columnist for The Guardian.
And as if that wasn’t enough the very first blogger to lay eyes on it has awarded it four and a half stars out of five and called it ‘unputdownable’. You can read the full review on the Chocolate n Waffles blog.
If you want to pre-order the book for Kindle just go to Amazon and you can get it for $0.99 / 99 pence for a VERY limited time.
Well, what are you waiting for?

Number 1!
I really should blog more often given that I write almost every day… I’d make a new year’s resolution if it wasn’t too late for that sort of behaviour.
For those of you who haven’t spotted it already my latest kids book The Witch With The Glitch has been out since October last year and it’s been quietly ticking over getting some nice attention and reviews. I decided to run a few promotions this month and the results were pretty overwhelming.
Over 15,000 people downloaded the book and it ended up an Amazon number one bestseller in the USA, UK, Canada and India.
So thank you to everyone who downloaded it, I hope you enjoy it and now would probably be a good time to tell you that I’m working on the next instalment in the series right now.
I might even blog about it more given how many of you there are!

One In The Barrel, Four In The Clip
There’s a lot being going on around these parts of late, I redesigned the website (hope you like it!) there was a new kids book that was launched and the become a lounger is getting bigger by the minute (sign up to get a free novella in case you haven’t already!).
The problem is that all the concentrating on newness has meant I’ve neglected you, my favourite audience, here on the website. And before you ask, no I don’t tell everyone they’re my favourite – it’s just you.
So, I hear you ask, what has prompted this return to form? Good question… well I’ve got a slew of projects that are all coming to roost and will soon be available for your viewing pleasure and I wanted to give you the lowdown.
One In The Barrel
My new collection of short stories Security Has Been Called is almost ready to go. The cover (by the fantastic Swaddle Creative) is done and dusted and I’m just finalising the manuscript then there’ll be further announcements for pre-orders and whathaveyou.
Four In The Clip
The Dali Deception – my very first novel will be hitting the shelves later in the summer. More details in a future post but this one is Oceans 11 meets Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels except with a more female-led cast. And in book form, of course.
The Witch With The Glitch – first draft was finished last night and marks the third instalment of the Lost Bookshop series for kids. This one is going to be free forever when it comes out as a full-length (middle grade) novel introduction to the rest of the series.
Battleflag (the prequel) is already written. It’s a novella introducing the main character from…
Battleflag Season One – this is going to be a little different from my usual stuff since it’s written in the Urban Fantasy genre. It’s currently underway and will consist of 6 episodes linking into one MASSIVE story. Very much a work in progress unlike the others which are all done bar the shouting Battleflag is something I’m going to be working on for the next few months.
To get the latest updates delivered straight to your inbox don’t forget to become a lounger.
Until next time, I bid you goodnight.

Could It Be? A New Website?!
Yes… yes it is!
It’s been a long time coming (and it’s still not 100% finished) but it’s here. Hope you like it!
Don’t get me wrong, I loved the old site but given the direction my writing has been heading the focus of the site needed to change. So, I hear you ask, what has changed?
Well it looks different for a start. But you noticed that, right? I’ve sidelined the old logo because every Tom, Dick & Harry is using the same font now and I’ve got a spanking new one right up at the top. Go and have a look. Don’t worry I’ll wait.
You’re back then? Nice isn’t it?
Another thing about the old design was that it was (and will continue to be) the style for the Defective Detective series. And these days I’ve been writing in a few different genres so it made sense to have a site that could frame not just that wonderful look but also incorporate these new styles.
The stories are gone. Kind of.
It was the mainstay of the site for years that I would regularly post short stories but two things changed. Firstly I’ve started to write longer stuff. No particular reason, just the mood I’ve been in. Unfortunately I’ve only got a small amount of time to write each day so I had to make a decision. That decision was – more novel, less short stories.
Secondly ebooks got invented and then really took off. It wasn’t so long ago I designed the old site but in that time ebooks have changed how people are consuming even short fiction and I think it makes more sense to distribute everything through channels that are easier to access via an eReader.
So I’m going to collect all the fiction that was on the site (and some that appeared elsewhere or is new and unseen) and that is going to be anthologised in ‘Security Has Been Called’ which will be my next-but-one release.
Oh and don’t worry too much about the things that aren’t finished… it’s mostly cosmetic, everything works so either come back soon to see more things happening or sign up to the newsletter to become an official ‘Lounger’ and get the latest shoved straight into your inbox fortnightly.

New Cover Revealed
Christmas is running towards us like one of those sprinter-zombies from 28 Days Later… In fact, there’s so much going on that there’s every likelihood I’ll email you a couple more times than I usually do in December, just to keep you abreast of the news.
Security Has (finally) Been Called
The latest collection of my short stories and flash fiction ‘Security Has Been Called’ has a cover – and here it is! I’ve gone for something that’s a bit old-school crime-inspired and I’m absolutely loving it – feel free to drop me a line and tell me what you think
The collection itself is going to be an anthology of the majority of my writing that has been collected on www.adammaxwell.com over the years as well as a selection of others that have appeared elsewhere or just never previously been unearthed.
WE WANT IT NOW, MR M!
I know you do, darlings, but you’ll have to wait. Not for long, though – you’ll be able to get the ebook version around the 22nd December and the paperback will follow in the new year. I’ll send you all a quick email as soon as it’s pre-orderable just to let you know.
After all, there’s nothing you’ll need more over Christmas than something you can read in the toilet as you hide from your drunken Uncle Michael…
There’s more news brewing but I feel this missive is long enough. We will speak again. Soon.

Lounging About
Things are moving, they really are…
I promised I would share it with you once it was ready and here it is, the almost complete design for the new and improved Fiction Lounge – just click on the preview image over there on the right and you’ll see the larger version. It’s courtesy of the very talented Laura Swaddle who is also responsible for some of my fantastic book covers. Give her a shout if you need any designy-type stuff sorting out.
I’m absolutely loving how it’s coming together – what do you think? Email me and let me know!
But I’m not getting distracted I promise!
I’ve been building up a bit of momentum and finishing a lot of projects ready to show you, the latest of which is the follow-up to my children’s chapter book The Lost Bookshop – The Mystery of the Missing Monkey. I had thought it would be finished sooner but it came in at 23,000 words which was a little longer than the first one. We’ll see what it ends up coming in at after it’s been edited but it won’t be far off that wordcount.
For grown-ups there will be a new short story collection happening very soon entitled ‘Security Has Been Called’ which is going to anthologise everything I’ve done post-Dial M For Monkey. That’s edited and in the bag so it’ll be cover-reveals coming for that soon.
There’s loads more and I know I don’t blog enough but I do fortnightly email updates so if you want to keep up to date, get freebies and generally be involved why not sign up – form is here and I won’t spam you I promise
