Away again

Andrew is away again, for a while, until something happens that he is making happen, he claims, so meantime here I am, a fine substitute as I am as old as him, and am his oldest friend, and am not quite what I may seem.

Tayside tsunami

With a spring tide rising and after much rain the river began to run onto the course as we arrived at the 11th green; first as just that little overflow but very soon the land around began to fill with water and we moved inwards before we were stranded overnight on green 11, which would have happened within minutes had we tarried any longer that the few seconds that it took me to win the hole:

Tired and emotional

I am, this evening, rather tired of interacting with my fellow humans. Or rather, I finally and firmly realised I was rather tired of the interaction this mid-afternoon, when I was interacting with some fellow humans. I am quite prepared to say "It's not you, it's me," but I am indeed currently rather tired of interacting with almost the whole damn lot of them. What's that? 7.4 billion of them? Admittedly I have not met them all, but I have met sufficient to know that their general characteristics do not, generally, go well together with the general characteristics of myself. In the absence of a shell to retreat into for a while, I have given myself a stern instruction to speak less, keep my opinions to myself, smile sweetly at every interaction and just log it all for my report. It's not you... it's me (I will be prepared to say); but I am going to write that report; and deliver it, in time. Actually I have already written a brief version or some key highlights - third poem down in the sidebar.

Welcome to America?

A friend went to New York on holiday and hired a car. He very quickly got a bit lost so he did what he might do at home - he stopped and requested directions from a policeman (or "cop") as I think they are known. The policeman eyed my friend with obvious displeasure, sighed a little then yelled: "Hey buddy why don't you go buy a fuckin' map!"

My friend thanked the good officer for his advice and moved on.

This was a few years ago, but something insignificant just reminded me of it, and reminded me to be wary of returning to (the US of) America. Perhaps nowadays my friend might receive a more useful "switch yer fuckin' satnav on buddy," which might be an improvement. There is always room for improvement.

I may need to return to the US of America soon, if they let me in again.
