The Importance of Play
“When you become TOO intent to maintain your reality you lose it, for you deny the creativity upon which it rests. I am not denying the importance of true reason. Certainly I am not telling you to ignore the intellect. But you do often ignore the playfulness of the intellect and force it to become something less than it is.
“Many of you have daydreams in which you actually see yourselves as your counterparts, and portions of THEIR lives sometimes come through to you as you go about your chores...

Starcat’s Favorites: Snowy Reflections
This is the third weekend in a row that we’ve been gifted with a snowstorm. Many folks are getting tired of it (and I’ll admit I’m sick of winter weather in general), but I still enjoy having a “snowed in” day. Last night I had lots of fun and learning while drumming for some amazing belly dancers. Tomorrow night I am leading our circle’s Full Moon ritual.
Right now, in between my outside-world activities, there is a sacred, quiet pause. A space for sleeping late, contemplation, catching up on...

Productivity and Self-Worth
I’m realizing lately just how much my self-worth on any given day is tied in with how productive I am, how much I get done. Holy macaroni! I’ve always been an organized, list-oriented Virgo. But I didn’t realize how much self-judgment is involved with my precious lists and calendars.

Um, Wanna Buy a Book?
I’ve had some really excellent initial feedback about my book, Starcat’s Corner: Essays on Pagan Living. It came out last month. I was really excited for the release, and then my energy just seemed to sort of stall. You see, I’m facing a steep learning curve.
In the publishing world, and particularly with small to medium-sized publishers, it is the role of the author to help with promoting and marketing the book. My publisher is great, and they have tons of marketing information on their websi...

Starcat’s Favorites: Catch-Up
My, my, how February is just flying by! I’ve been more busy than usual (is that possible!?) over the past few weeks, and blogging has fallen to the bottom of a long list. But I’m back! I’ll have more to say this week, but first a bit of catching up.
What’s been going on? Quester was sick with some kind of nasty virus that kept him in bed for quite a while. While he’s recovering I’ve been helping with the family finances by picking up some extra shifts at my very part-time work-outside-the-home...

Starcat’s Favorites: In the Groove
I’ve been zooming along in the groove over the past few days. I had a lot going on this weekend, but I moved through it gracefully by going with the flow and taking a few minutes here and there for self-care. Rather than getting overwhelmed with all that’s on my plate, I just pause and do the next thing that’s in front of me. It helps that today I’ve been home, working and playing in my cozy home office (also known as the corner of the dining room).
This week was a good one for discovering lin...
