Service Providers for New Authors

My goal for 2013 is to help new authors into the world of
self-publishing. 



I was recently a new
author, just like many of you.  If it
were not for the help and guidance of my husband, I would have never ventured
into the world of writing.  His support helped
me tremendously and I am forever grateful to him.





Seeing the need for a helpful hand in this dog-eat-dog labor
of love, I blogged about wanting to help new authors (http://authortlbliss.blogspot.com/2012/12/my-goal-for-2013-is-to-help-another.html).  I started sharing space on my website with
newcomers and have taken a couple new authors “under my wing”.





Now, I am building a list of service providers to share with
new authors.  I would be grateful if you
would share this with your social networking sites and with others you know who
want to be added to this list.





I am not randomly adding names or contact information; I am
only adding what is provided to me.  So

DO YOUR PART TO HELP STOP BULLYING

Have you taken a stand to help stop bullying?  If so, what did you do or what have you done
to help?  So many of today’s youth have
been bullied by another person or persons that this has become a widespread
problem.  This is not only happening in
large cities, but also small towns.  The
youth of today need our help and guidance to point them in the right direction
before it is too late.  Show your support
and teach your children to stand up for themselves and others they see being
bullied.  Help them gain the self-esteem
they need to improve their lives and the lives of those around them.  Teach them how to be a friend and help each
other.  Guide them to living a life of
love, not hate.  Promote a good
foundation for your children to reach out to those who are struggling.  Do your part.



 



I have written a short story series that relates to the
bullying ‘epidemic’ that we have all heard about lately.  The first book is about the main characters
meeting, the third is how they help change a bully into a friend, the fourth
works on how to build self-esteem, and the fifth book talks about good
manners.  I have also included book two,
which is a diary for the kids to write in and includes bookmarks.

2012 into 2013...

I have decided to enter a couple writing contests this
year.  I have not ever done this, but
figure it sure can’t hurt anything, right??





It is a new year and I am hopeful this year will be both
prosperous and be the best year for me as a writer.  I see new books being published in my very
near future and WIPs being wrapped up and shared with the world too.





In 2012, I made the decision to self-publish 8 books and
share them with the world. 





In 2013, I will take on another genre and see where that
takes me.  My hope is to be able to expand
my network this year and focus on marketing/promoting the books I have already
self-published, while I work on more writing.

Brown Tree is a mental hospital where Kelly has been living since her parents died when she was young.  Through the years as Kelly grows older, she tries to run away from Brown Tree only to be caught and sent back to the facility.  The times she was able to get away and make it back to her hometown of Woodbyne, she learned the art of dancing and stripping in the clubs, which led to her cliché life of sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll.  She became a pole dancer and stripper at a local bar, called White Dove, where she grows fond of the bar owner, Mike.  Although she had a deep love for Mike, he vowed to never fall in love with any of his dancers, again. 

 

Kelly manages to make a break from Brown Tree one evening when the security guard is exploiting the girl in seclusion for sex.  Kelly makes her way back to Woodbyne and back to the White Dove where she picks up her life of dancing where it left off, minus the drugs this time.  She falls more in love with Mike and the story takes you on the journey they share together.

My goal for 2013 is to help another writer...

Do you have a fellow author who you have taken under your
wing to help promote or share advice with?



While we would all like to think we are the next big thing
to hit e-books and the world of reading, we were all once just beginners in the
wonderful world of writing.  We looked up
to someone or wanted to be just like the author of our favorite book, and even thought,
“gosh I can do that too”.





We are all in this profession together, working hand-in-hand
with each other, mostly on a competitive basis, but our outcomes are all the
same – our desire to write and be noticed.



Just like riding a bike, we needed help with that too.  Or driving; we sure didn’t begin that process
alone.  Or even building friendships over
the years; again not done alone.   





I encourage each of you reading this to take another writer
by the hand and help them up the ladder that you have climbed.  Build a working rapport, feed off the
knowledge you both have, learn from each other, and mostly help each other to
be successful.



Maybe your strength is editing, or even coming up with a
great scene, maybe you are better at critique, or even prefer just to
illustrate – whatever your strengths may be, work together to make it better.





My goal for 2013 is to help another writer by sharing space
on my website, help build a social network, and striving for a better outcome
for each of us.  I hope you all do the
same and who knows; maybe there is another Stephen King or J.K. Rowling among us just waiting
to be noticed.
