Gameworld audiobooks!

Out on Audible. Read by GoT’s robust Ramon Tikaram, who must be thoroughly sick of my work by now.

The Simoqin Prophecies

The Manticore’s Secret

The Unwaba Revelations

Audiobook alert

The Turbulence audiobook is out, and is here:

So you know what I want you to do with this information. For further motivation, here’s The Audio Bookaneers saying:

“I’ve been looking forward to this book for a good while and based on the sample it’s been superbly cast, narrated, and produced.” – audiobookaneers.com

You might have beheaded me, but no matter, I’m off to do an audiobook.

The audiobook has been read by Ramom Takarim – which I believe is the audiobookreading pseudonym of Ramon Tikaram, or a severe typo that needs to be addressed immediately.

Ramon Tikaram is an Indian-Fijian-Malaysian actor whose most handsome face you might recall from Game of Thrones, where he was unjustly slain by that cad Dario Nahaaris. He has also been in Eastenders and Kama Sutra, which makes him an all-round Hero in my book. I hope I get to meet him one day.

Multi-book year-end update (because that’s how we roll)

Turbulence:

- Was superheronovels.com’s book of the year for 2013. Thrilled. Thanks so much, guys.

- Was on Adrian Tchaikovsky‘s list of books he liked from the metric crapton he read this year. Which is a huge honour, especially for an Adrian T fan like myself. Start with Empire in Black and Gold and you’ll keep going from there.

- And got a very kind review from Geek News Network: “Where Samit Basu shines is knowing how to take these powers and warp them to fit his twisted and lovely book.”

Local Monsters:

- Got a very kind revew from Mint: “… with its in-jokes and biting satire, Basu’s story has a flavour that is uniquely Indian.”

- And had me talking about it in The Hindu

Terror on the Titanic:

- is out in the world again, with its new publisher, the non-teenaged, non-mutant but definitely ninja-like Red Turtle. It’s on Flipkart and Amazon and hopefully everywhere else.

Dhaka mosquitoes flee Dancer-Novelist Menace

20131113-233110.jpg

Thanks to her dance background, years of tennis practice, heroic nature and general badassness, Tishani Doshi is like a ninja with a mosquito zapper device. She slew at least twenty with a few quick swings, while I stared in awe.

Turbulence in the US Part Nine: What, another one?

Like Chunky Pandey and Germaine Greer, Turbulence is still kicking its way around. Here are some more very kind reviews:

“Turbulence took me completely by surprise. Samit Basu doesn’t need a brand new idea to tell a gripping story. It’s clever, full of jokes, brutal action, personal loss, and hearty characters. To say the least, there’s never a boring moment.” – Nerdophiles

“Turbulence balances itself between many things: super hero deconstruction, large scale widescreen blockbuster action pieces, and interpersonal relationship dramatics… a perfectly balanced soup of super hero derring-do lifted from the pages of a comic book and played out brilliantly through the prose of a novel.” – Part Time Fanboy

” …it’s one of the most charming, playful, smart and socially aware SFF books out there… unites a fiercely political interrogation of his source materials with an unabashed delight in his affection for those tropes and themes.” – Strange Horizons

In case you haven’t seen the first 8 posts, which seems entirely reasonable, collected reviews page here. Interviews page here. Articles/posts here.
