New Release: Finding Matt by JD Ruskin
I have a new release scheduled for December 5, 2014 called Finding Matt through Dreamspinner. This novel is a paranormal romance featuring a pet psychic named Jaron Greenberg.
Blurb: When six-year-old Matt Wilson and his Shih Tzu, Pixie, step out of the Stanton Community Hospital and disappear, his desperate parents convince Jaron Greenberg, a local pet psychic, to aid the police in the search. Jaron specializes in finding lost kitties and fixing problem pooches. He isn't prepared for a case with so much at stake. And as soon as he starts, the abilities he's had since childhood begin changing and growing in unexpected ways.
Paulo Silva is a veteran detective new to the small town of Stanton. As the low man on the totem pole at Stanton PD, he isn't happy when the chief assigns him to babysit the pet psychic instead of actively working the missing child case. As Jaron uncovers clues, Paulo starts to wonder if he might be the real thing. Or maybe it's just his testosterone reacting to what he’s sure is mutual attraction.
I'm doing a Blog Book Blast through Pride Promotions at the start of December where I will be giving away free copies of the book. If you're interested, check out my book trailer.

GOT GRL TICKETS?
I'm attending my first GRL this year as an attendee and not an author, but I will still be giving away some free stuff. JP Barnaby has generously allowed me to include some swag in the GRL gift bags she gives away. I created rainbow bracelets for the bags. A few of the bags will have download codes for a free copy of the audiobook or e-book version of When One Door Opens.
I'm also participating in RWA's Rainbow Chapter Scrapbooking event on October 17th from 2:30pm - 4:20pm. I'm bringing supplies for my books and some Chicago themed items since I am a local girl.
If you're interested in a paperback version of When One Door Opens, Dreamspinner is offering a 35% discount and free shipping to GRL through Sept. 21st. Don't forget to use the code GRL2014.
My first book was about an agoraphobic, which tells you everything you need to know about my social skills. Ignore my look of terror and come say hello. I'm happy to meet you, even if I look like I'm scouting for the exit signs.
I hope everyone has a great time at the event!

Interview with K.C. Kelly (Narrator for When One Door Opens Audio book)
Tell us a little bit about your background. How did you get started in narrating audio books? What are some of the audio books that have you narrated?
I’ve been a professional actor for over forty years. The opportunity to narrate came up last year when a close friend of mine (also a narrator) pointed me in the right direction. This year has been (courtesy of Dreamspinner Press) a great start: FROG, WHEN ONE DOOR OPENS, BRUTE, ETHAN, WHO LOVED CARTER AND LOVE, LIKE WATER are all books I’ve done this year along with short-stories, CUPID CHRISTMAS, A LION IN TAILS and SNOWBOUND IN NOWHERE. Other titles include a detective story, CONCH REPUBLIC and a “how to” guide to massage parlours, HAPPY ENDINGS.
What kinds of things do you do in preparation for recording?
First, I sit down and read the book, usually a week or so before any recording. Then, chapter by chapter, I colour code each character with an underliner before setting down to read.
What’s the most rewarding part of narrating/producing an audio book?
Giving a good read, “legs.” When I capture a character that people listening to really relate to, I know I’ve done my job.
While narrating When One Door Opens, what character was the most fun to narrate? Why?
I enjoyed Caleb the most and his struggles to re-join the world.
What character was the most difficult to narrate? Why?
“Klass” was the hardest to “figure” as he was (simultaneously) both “in” and “out” of the closet while trying to do the right thing for his nephew, Caleb.
Was there a particular scene you think you read especially well? Or that you particularly enjoyed reading?
I really liked Logan’s first trip to Meng’s market – really like the Mengs and their protective attitude toward Caleb.
Where can readers/listeners find out more about you and your work?
