Review for Opposites Attract

4* review from MM Good Book Reviews

This story has been previously released as part of the Stranded anthology. It is probably one of my favorites that I have read tonight. It has a kick to it and comes off so damn believable. I have met many couples who get together and break up because of one reason or another. It doesn’t seem to help when they try working it out.

Andrea and Chris have been together but there are fears on both sides. Chris is an active man who loves to do wild things, whereas Andrea loves to bake, cook and garden. They are complete opposites that is for sure, but it seems that it works for them.

I loved this story and would love to see it in a longer story. I want more background on them both and to see how they got to where they are at now. It is a very hot and sexy little story that warms my heart. I loved it and look forward to seeing what other stories that Lily has out.

5* Review for Opposites Attract

AMAZON UK REVIEW

I received an ARC in return for an honest review.

I am a fan of Lily’s writing, her characters are never two dimensional and always manage to pull my in from the start, and what a start this was! The opening scene shows our couple Chris and Andreas enjoying their holiday and each other and I must admit having read several other of her books, this upfront sexing was quite a change in style, but very welcome.

You get the picture very quickly that as the title suggests, these two are polar opposites. Chris likes activities and taking risks, whereas Andreas is much more reserved. It seems like the only thing they have in common is their love for each other. But is that really enough?
I certainly won’t spoil the story for you, but these two get the chance to put their lives and love for each other into perspective and see just how much the other means to them as they tangle with their feelings and emotions

Lily always explores deeper than most with her characters, adding small facets to them that a lot of people wouldn’t take the time to do, but with these, it works

Above all, the love and mutual respect that Andreas and Chris have for each other shines through the pages and gives a well rounded short story with characters you feel yourself wanting to take sides with. Will opposites really attract? Read for yourself and find out.

Marc ~ Sinfully Sexy Books Review of Paint the Sky

4* Review from Marc

Can love reform one's behaviour? Well, this is definitely the case for Benjamin when he meets Vinnie who turns his world upside down. Until he meets Vinnie Benjamin's idea of a relationship was a blowjob in the backroom of the local gay night club.

Yes, Benjamin's young, free, single and a bit of a man whore to be honest. I just loved the way that his attitude and behaviour transforms once he meets Vinnie at Uni. He falls heavily in love which makes him reconsider his way of life, realising how empty and unfulfilling his life has actually been until now. This had me reminiscing of when I was in my early twenties which feels like another lifetime, but with youth comes the self-confidence of being independent and the thought of being tied to someone forever a frightening thought. Until you meet the right person and then everything looks completely different. After a while you start to long for that person to wake up to in the mornings, knowing someone is next to you all night, every night. It really is something special even after all these years. Benjamin goes through the whole gamut of emotions during this book but comes out the other end the better person for it.

I craved a best friend, someone to talk to and share my life as well as my bed. One-night hook ups had inexplicably lost their appeal.

Vinnie is an art student and is more the shy and retiring kind of guy. He has been admiring Benjamin from afar for a while but never plucked up the courage to speak to him, also thinking that he wouldn't be interested in him especially knowing what Benjamin is like. Vinnie had already been hurt before when jilted in a previous relationship and obviously is guarded with his emotions. If he's going to give his heart to anyone he wants to make sure that it isn’t for a quickie and then left on the side. I loved Vinnie, such a caring but as is the nature of artists a sensitive soul who takes everything to heart.

When these two meet it was so sweet and even though Benjamin has fallen head over heels for Vinnie he still has to prove to Vinnie that he isn’t in it for a one night stand. I just loved the way that Vinnie plays him along at the beginning, making Benjamin work and prove himself worthy of a relationship, but once Vinnie lets the final barriers down these two guys just make one hot couple. I loved the way that Vinnie’s feelings, emotions and moods can be seen and viewed through his painting. I guess like any talented artist there is always a piece of themselves that is worked into every picture they paint and this is definitely the case for Vinnie.

We never moved much beyond this – aroused and hard and grinding. Anything more and he would back off. We hadn’t talked about it yet. I knew we should, but I let it pass each time, fearful of making him runaway.

They leave Uni and the normal daily drudge of work, job, etc. starts to creep into their relationship and as with anyone once the honeymoon period is over this is then the real test of a relationship. It’s make or break time. I liked this part as it is honest, realistic, no fancy, dreamy frills that you only get in a Mills and Boon romance. It’s down to the hard facts of life.

Vinnie is working on a job at a children’s hospital with another artist called James and jealously raises it’s ugly head on Benjamin’s side. OK, James from the very beginning for me was smarmy and detestable, but Vinnie seemed to like him and I could only take Benjamin’s side on this one. Vinnie starts arriving home late, never phones Benjamin to say he’ll be home later which would be the considerate thing to do. Benjamin starts to get jealous, the chinks in their relationship start to appear, everything escalates out of control until it comes to the inevitable and Vinnie storms out on Benjamin in rage, leaving him high, dry and alone. My heart went out to Benjamin to be honest though for several reasons.

Maybe Benjamin was behaving a little bit like a drama queen and behaving all jealous, but to be honest Vinnie gave him every reason to and didn’t make things better. I think there is nothing worse than expecting you’re loved one home at a certain time and he doesn’t appear. However, when he doesn’t even bother to ring you either to let you know he’ll be late, considering you might be worried sick wondering where he is, this in my books is a really shitty thing and shows total lack of consideration. Yep, totally on Benjamin’s side there! Once mistrust starts to build up it’s a very difficult thing to get out of the way. Benjamin is now so alone it’s heart-breaking. Having experienced this myself, as probably many of us have too, it really is a crappy time for anyone. In my case my worst fears were confirmed and that was then end of a seven year relationship which I thought was still OK. Silly, naive me - lol! This is why my heart was aching for Benjamin at this point, even as time goes by he still can’t get Vinnie out of his mind. Well, this does take time for sure that’s true as anyone who has been through this kind of breakup will know.

Vinnie takes off and stays with James not making things better and through all this Vinnie's brothers Theo and Finn provide the biggest support for Benjamin. They know Vinnie is still pining for Benjamin, but neither Benjamin nor Vinnie are giving any ground or prepared to approach the other. It just always amazes me how stubborn people can be at times. The support from Vinnie’s brothers however was so heart-warming, I could just feel the love these brothers have for each other. Of course we also mustn’t forget the big older sister either who I reckon keeps her brothers all in order quietly anyway – lol! So four siblings all told and Vinnie is the baby. Well, the way he acts at time I must say he did have some very younger sibling qualities for sure.

The only thing I felt for me that went a bit over the top was the fact that during this time Finn, Vinnie’s older brother, comes out of the closet. We already know that Theo is bi but I got the impression he’s possibly a little more into men than the other way round. This was the point to be honest where my imagination was just stretched a little too far beyond the realms of credibility. Three brothers and they are all gay? Ah sorry, but realistically I don’t think so somehow. I have one younger brother, happily married who has a wonderful daughter which means I get a gorgeous niece to spoil and adore. I only have the one brother, he is supportive, my best friend and confidante, we joke around, but he’s straight as they come. Maybe two brothers out of three being gay, or another cousin, nephew, etc. OK, believable. But three brothers from three are gay? Even as a gay man myself, for me it just felt there was a little too much of the gay – lol! It is probably only me that had a few problems with the plausibility of this situation or plot device and maybe there are real situations where all brothers are gay when there is more than two, however statistically speaking I’m afraid I’m not really convinced. I’m always willing to be proved wrong for the better though, so please if anyone can enlighten me with a real situation then I would be more than delighted to hear about it. Always willing to live and learn. It didn’t however detach me from the story too much and once I just accepted the idea was totally invested in the book.

Let me however not distract you from what is only for me a personal minor small point in a story that truly is an emotional ride with a beautiful HEA. Needless to say without giving too much away, Benjamin has to be patient and he is which pays off as Vinnie is seriously not happy with James. Well, in the end the family had to get him away from the piece of shit that James is and bring him home in a cloak and dagger operation. Poor Vinnie I just felt so sorry for him, hurting, alone and in another relationship which was poisoning him slowly but surely. However, I guess it was exactly this that showed him how much he had with Benjamin despite the fact that nobody is perfect and Benjamin is by no means an exception either.

There are some harrowing moments for Benjamin to pull through and I could just feel his loneliness without Vinnie. It was truly upsetting for me to read how he was suffering from missing Vinnie, but at the same time clutching on to every last straw thrown his way that might eventually bring Vinnie back to him. His patience pays off and I was only glad and relieved to see how they gradually got back together to form a relationship that is now possibly stronger than it ever was before. This meant the book ended on a beautiful high point and that did produced a warm, gooey feeling inside.

4.5 Star Review for Paint the Sky

4.5 Stars from Because Two Men Are Better Than One

Paint the Sky is so poetically romantic. There isn’t anything extra; no one is coming out, there isn’t murder or suspense, there isn’t an over abundance of angst, it’s just a love story. Ben’s Prologue sums it up:

“Once upon a time in England, two boys met and fell in love. They argued, fell out for a time, but eventually made up and lived happily ever after.”
That’s pretty much the gist of the story but Ms. Lily Blunt does so much more; she pulls you into this romantic love story of Ben and Vinnie. Two students about to graduate from university who finally meet after circling each other for the past couple of years. Ben approaching the seemingly shy Vinnie while taking a break between finals. They hit it off immediately and crash and burn just as quickly. The most sensual part of the story for me was when Vinnie finger paints Starry Night on Ben’s chest; how sexy is that! There were quite a few moments like that in the story. It wasn’t waded down with blatant erotica, it was more subtle with more real life angst thrown in rather than the obvious misunderstandings thrown in for dramatic effect. They had real life insecurities and doubt that manifest themselves at the worst time and in the worst way. They didn’t jump into bed right away they actually dated…which I loved! They are both working 9-5 jobs while pursuing their dreams on the side; Ben wants to be a writer and Vinnie a professional artist.
I fell in love with Ben and Vinnie slowly and gradually; just like they fell in love with each other. And when the doubt and insecurities started growing I felt just as stressed by it as they did. And I was just as crushed when they split up. Their path to finding their way back to each other was a little heartbreaking but they got there…YAY!

This was just a really well written love story. I only wish for one thing…Vinnie’s POV especially doing their time apart, I was really curious as to his thoughts as they approached their break up and their time apart. Other that than that a great sappy love story without all the extra.
Oh and damn did you see the book cover how hot is that!

Review of Paint the Sky

A Rainbow Gold Review - Beth really likes this wonderful story - check it out ;)

Format:Kindle Edition

***** A Rainbow Gold Review *****

This is a story of a relationship between two men, Benjamin (Ben) Penrose, 23, son of well-off, successful, indulgent parents, studying English literature and music; and Vincent (Vinnie), 23, an art major with a much different background. After finally screwing up his courage to speak with Vinnie as he was spotted painting a picture on the campus grounds one afternoon, Ben wangles a casual invite to see Vinnie’s school art exhibition. At that moment, Vinnie is all that Ben can think about. He even ends up returning to his room and writing a story, featuring the seemingly impoverished student artist. This is unusual for Ben because he is a self-professed “horn dog” who “prefers one night stands over dating.” Yet somehow, he sees himself wanting more with the somewhat elusive Vinnie. However, when he does meet up with Vinnie again at the art exhibition and is introduced to Vinnie’s brothers as “BJ” instead of Ben or Benjamin, it dawns on him that Vinnie may be onto him and his past sexual promiscuity. Nevertheless the two men make a plan to have Vinnie sketch Ben for a portrait for his father, in turn, Ben brings his violin and plays a piece that he wrote especially for him.

One theme throughout this book, as you probably already noticed, is art and music. One beautiful scene that really strikes this theme home is as follows:

[Excerpt start]
*****
“Finger paints?” The image of Vinnie dipping his fingers in the soft liquid and applying it to a canvas was highly erotic. “Have you ever used them to paint a picture?” I swallowed hard. Not for the first time, I breathed in his unique scent. I longed to trail my tongue along his neck and take his lips with mine. Vinnie reached around me to take the dark blue pot, his bare arm rubbing against my torso, and his warm breath close to my ear. “No, I haven’t actually, but I’d love to paint the night sky as it looks tonight to remember you playing the violin for me.” “You want me to play again?” My voice was hoarse with desire. I swallowed deeply trying to moisten my throat. “No, I want to paint the sky on you.” His lips barely touched the side of my face, soft and warm, but sent a scolding tingle rippling through my body. “Can I?” he whispered into my ear.

I nodded once, hardly daring to move in case I scared him away. I couldn’t believe this was happening. Vinnie’s empty hand stroked up and down my chest from behind, his thumb grazing across my shirt over my nipple before reaching the buttons. One by one, he undid them, tantalizingly slowly, peppering my neck with soft sweet kisses, until my shirt hung open, my chest exposed. The pads of his fingers trailed over my skin, seeking, exploring, taking his time, painfully slow. His breath came out in loud and fast pants.

Vinnie led me across the room, pulling me by the shirt. “Lie back on the sofa for me and I’ll paint you.” As if in a dream, I settled my head against one arm of the sofa, my legs dangling over the other end, scarcely breathing now. Vinnie knelt on the floor beside me with an open pot of paint in his hand. Teasingly, he dipped his index finger into the dark blue paint as if it were cream he would lick off. His finger connected with my skin and he made short strokes across my chest, the coldness of the paint making me shiver.

Mesmerised by the closeness of his beautiful face, the view of the night sky through the window, and the picture forming upon my chest, I watched as dab after dab and stroke after stroke he built up a mix of shades, until a dark night sky with the moon and stars were there to be seen—a masterpiece, drying on the warmth of my blazing skin, a transient thing of beauty. His fingers skimmed my skin causing gooseflesh to ripple in waves down my arms and thighs. My nipples pebbled in response to his touch. And when he was done, his lips met mine in a languid kiss; how our first kiss should have been—sweet, innocent, and full of promise. He pulled away, smiling down at me. This was the beginning of something special. My heart knew it at that very moment.

[Excerpt End]
*****
It may seem like the men are well on their way to a happy future together at this point, but things don’t always go the way you expect them to, do they? Both men are working through things and there is some heartbreak and angst looming on the horizon. Ben convinces Vinnie to move in with him, and they are both thrilled and having a wonderful time with each other at first. However, Ben just can’t leave well enough alone, and he breaks Vinnie’s trust by overstepping his bounds. Then Vinnie becomes elusive about his activities and whereabouts during his painting projects. They start to bicker and snap at each other, and eventually things become too much for either of them to bear, and their relationship crumbles.

Will a sudden critical situation bring the men back together, and allow them to reaffirm their love for each other, or is what transpired just too much to be overcome? You will need to read this wonderful story to find out what happens.

Review of The Perfect Size for You

REVIEW - JOYFULLY JAY

The Perfect Size For You by Lily G. Blunt
Rating: 4.25 stars

Ty is a pornstar nearing the age where his time on camera is becoming limited and he’s looking to transition into the escort business. When he takes on a shy, virginal client just looking to gain a little experience so he has enough confidence to attract the attention of a boy he likes, Ty expects it to just be easy money and nothing else. He couldn’t be more wrong. He slowly ends up falling for Andy, but Andy’s interested in another boy, so it’s destined to end up in heartbreak unless he can convince Andy to give him a chance.

There’s also a nice little twist that took me completely by surprise, which I won’t ruin for you. The characters felt well-rounded and were likable, and the premise was familiar but highly enjoyable. The story arc felt complete and pretty natural. All in all, I enjoyed this one and there wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the story.

Review on Mrs Condit and Friends

Madam Aus Reviews Boys on Film by Lily G. Blunt

Posted by Madam Aus on November 30, 2013

“I don’t know,” I tell him. “I’m seriously thinking of giving it all up.”
He’s quiet a few seconds, “Because of me?”
I don’t reply straight away, but when I do, I whisper, “Yes.”

GENRE: M/M
RATING: 4 Sweet Peas!

Set in an opulent house in San Diego that also serves as a porn studio, the story follows Stefan as he falls in love with Nate, a budding author from England, and in the process comes out as gay. Despite working in a gay porn studio and having sex with his best buddy on a regular basis, Stefan outwardly claims to be straight, although he enjoys the sex and substantial pay from his gay videos. This changes when he meets Nate, who has been given the opportunity to observe the inner workings of Blue House Film Studios to add realism to his latest erotic novel.

MADAM AUS’S OPINION: I was thoroughly intrigued with this concept. I thought it would be interesting to see how Lily G Blunt handled the whole story line. Some of the porn stars that we have today are very sexy and there are a few of the gay pornstars who claim to be gay for pay. Stefan identifies as straight although he will have sex with either gender. Enter Nate, who has just written his first gay erotica novel set in a… you guessed it… porn studio, and sends it to the Blue House studio for them to take a look at it. Stefan ends up doing the reading, and cut to a few weeks later Nate has been invited to and accepted to come to the studio.

Now I enjoyed the story immensley, it is told exclusively from Stefans POV. I loved the journey that this story took us on. Stefan’s first hurdle was his attraction to Nate, don’t get me wrong here, he does feel sexual attraction and that does not cause him a moments pause, but attraction to the man himself and coming out not just to others but most importantly to himself, is his first stop on this journey. Their living on opposite sides of the “pond” is another, and Nate’s ex-boyfriend is the biggest. Like most men talking is not high on their list of priorities and most of their problems could have been resolved with a good heart to heart but where would we be then??

I loved Stefan’s uncertainty, it really made it all lovely and believable. It made him being a porn star more relatable. I am still not sure about the present tense of the writing but I will admit it kept me in the present and there with the characters and the events that unfolded.

5* Reviews on Amazon

Happy Anniversary, Jasper

I sat on the edge of my seat as I read this heart warming/wrenching story. Beautifully written with crisp characters I fell in love with.

*

I loved the original version of this and remember crying my eyes out, I didn't expect it to have the same impact this time - BOY WAS I WRONG! Maybe because I knew what was coming, but cry I did.

The way that this is told is beautiful, you can feel Nathan's emotions and the love that he has for Japser as he sits and waits for the love of his life on their anniversary in their favorite restaurant, but will he arrive?

Not for me to tell you. I would strongly suggest that you take the leap and buy this and the companion piece Happy Birthday Jasper - you will not be disappointed.

On their tenth anniversary, Nathan remembers all of the wonderful moments of his intense relationship with Jasper.

Beautifully written, this is easily a favorite of mine. The love Nathan and Jasper share is so heartwarming that I couldn't help but smile. I felt as though I was right beside the two MCs, watching as they created a life together
