Valley of the Silk Sky page 49 is up, and Chapter 4 is a wrap!

Valley of the Silk Sky queer YA SFF webcomic

The final page of Chapter 4 is up, and awaiting your eyeballs at these locations:

the VoSS tumblr
Tapastic
Studio NDR

Now that the whole thing is up, you want maybe to read it all at once in a single sitting? Chapter 4 starts here on Tumblr, here on Tapastic, and here on Studio NDR. Have at!

MEANWHILE, perhaps you’re wondering how chapter 5 is progressing. I am currently in the process of inking, and then it’ll be on to coloring. My goal is to have it ready to go by Feb. 3 (that’s in two weeks), so that’s the tentative start date.

Chapter 5 wraps up Part One. I’m working even now on assembling the digital book for Part One (which so far mostly consists of agonizing over the cover), which I’ll put up on Gumroad for your offline reading pleasure. I also plan to submit VoSS to Comixology, so hopefully they’ll pick it up, but I won’t know anything about that for quite awhile (turnaround on acceptance/rejection is about 3 months, and I won’t even be ready to submit for a couple of weeks).

So! Anyway. That is the Status of Things. Next week I’ll post the Valley of the Silk Sky Year 1 art I did – or you can just pop over to Patreon and look at it right now.

Until then!

Valley of the Silk Sky page 48, VoSS turns 1, and a Monster sale!

lgbtqia ya sci-fi comic Valley of the Silk Sky

VoSS page 48 has arrived! OBSERVE:

True facts, tomorrow (Jan 14) is the first birthday of my li’l sci-fi webcomic! I made a special art for the occasion, which I’ll be posting first to my Patreon (in a public post). That’ll go up tomorrow, and then I’ll post it here and on the various VoSS feeds once chapter 4 is complete (which shall be VERY SOON INDEED).

Meanwhile, I have this other thing going on:

Feeping Creatures monster art on Etsy

As you may know, I make all this monster-themed art called Feeping Creatures, and I have an Etsy store wherein I sell said art. And right now I have a 20%-off sale going on if you use the code CarsSureAreGreat20 at checkout.

Y’see, my car decided what it REALLY wanted to do was to rack up a bunch of extremely expensive repairs with no warning. So the Feep sale is to help defray the costs.

The sale is on through Feb 14. Maybe you have a loved one who needs some monsters. Maybe YOU are that loved one. Anyhow, get on over to the Feeping Creatures Etsy store and stock up on some monstery goodness.

Cheers,

Dylan

Valley of the Silk Sky page 47 is up!

queer YA SFF webcomic Valley of the Silk Sky

You’ve been wondering how Hali wound up in this mess? Page 47 has the answers you seek. Read it here:

on the VoSS website
on Tapastic
on Studio NDR

And now you know: if ever you have to stop Hali and ask xer for directions, take the resulting information with a grain the size of a salt lick.

I updated my Appearances page for 2016. These are the confirmed shows thus far, with more to be added later as confirmations come in.

Meanwhile, in Tales of the Status of Future Chapters, I finished thumbnailing chapter 6 finally, so yay! I’m working on an illustration for a thing, and once that’s done I’ll get to work drawing chapter 5.

Next week Valley of the Silk Sky the Webcomic turns one year old! I started publishing this story on January 14, 2015. Will I maybe do a Year 1 special art post?? MAYBE??? Tune in next week to find out!

Cheers,

Dylan

Valley of the Silk Sky: “The Long Run” – page 47

It might be the case that, as a teenager, I once got lost about half a mile from my house, in a neighborhood I’d lived in since I was three. Ahem. Cough.

Valley of the Silk Sky page 46

Valley of the Silk Sky: The Long Run page 46 is up, and it brings you yet more delightful culinary adventures:

What exciting facts shall we learn in next week’s installment, I wonder? Hum hum!

Speaking of future pages, I’ve got chapter 5 thumbnailed, and am currently working on thumbs for chapter 6. I decided to go ahead and rough out Ch6 before drawing ch5 because I need it to percolate for a bit. See if it hangs together the way it’s supposed to.

Once those thumbnails are done, I’ll circle back and draw Ch5. And THEN. Once THAT’S done, I’ll put together a PDF of the first 5 chapters, for they comprise Part One. Ch6 will kick off Part Two.

I’ve been debating how to package the story for consumption in other media besides online. I don’t want to make people buy the same thing in multiple formats, so I think what I’m going to do is stick with the ch1-2 minicomic for displaying at shows; digital editions of each Part, which will be pay-what-you-can; and then a single offset print volume for the whole book once it’s done. Which will be a couple of years yet.

ANYHOW. That’s my current thinking. I’m hoping to have the digital edition of Part One available sometime in February. If I were REALLY with it, I’d have it in time for the comic’s first birthday on Jan 14. But I’m not, so I won’t. Shrug!

But yes, keep an eyeball out for VoSS 1 in the new year.

Cheers,

Dylan

Valley of the Silk Sky page 45, ALPHABET’s final hours

queer SFF webcomic Valley of the Silk Sky

In this flashback, Razi does battle with the most terrifying monster of all: INTRACTABLE BUREAUCRACY. Witness the horror here:

on Patreon
on the VoSS tumblr
on Tapastic
on Studio NDR

About that Patreon link: as you may know, Patrons who pledge one dollar or more per month get early access to pages (typically Monday morning instead of Wednesday), as well as additional world-building information.

I’ve made a public post for this week’s page to show you what sorts of things I typically talk about in the world-building section. Also, when the series goes on break in between chapters, I typically give Patrons a peek at additional finished artwork, concept sketches, and so forth. All that for a mere $1 a month – that’s $12 for a whole entire year.

Obviously you can pledge more, and higher levels get you stuff like postcards in the mail, original comic pages, and suchlike. Check out the various reward tiers to see what strikes your fancy.

Now, last call for the ALPHABET Kickstarter!

ALPHABET queer comics anthology

As of Wednesday morning, December 23, exactly 24 hours remain on the campaign. You’ll be glad to know we’re funded and going to press, but this is your last shot at scooping some of those fancy backer rewards! Check it out, and pledge if you haven’t already.

Cheers,

Dylan
