Six Sentence Sunday – I Don’t Hate You #SixSunday
Hey all! Thought I’d give this Six Sentence Sunday another blast.
Anyway, withHealer’s Touchdue to be released in January, I thought I might work on garnering some interest.
I noticed that a lot of the #SixSunday posts tend to come from some rather “fun” reads (o; So, I thought I’d pick a bit from “the sex scene” in mine, without giving too much away…
Jonas studied her face for several moments—never mind that she was standing there naked.
“I wonder what you were like.”
“When?”
“Before you learned t...

Doing My Bit: Kristell Ink Release: Steampunk Anthology
Hey you guys! (Oh, The Goonies … oooh, Josh Brolin, don’t mind if I do… Oh, wait. Where was I?)
You know all about the fact that my story Healer’s Touch is due to be published, and that it is being published by the new, and just as wonderful, Kristell Ink. I know you know, because I keep telling you!
Well, before we get around to that wonderful event (it’s coming, though … we’re nearly half-way edited, and we’re onto Cover Design!!), Kristell Ink is releasing a couple of other titles. In fact,...

Six Sentence Sunday – Ew! #SixSunday
Hey, hey, hey …
I’ve been following a few blogs that do this “Six Sentence Sunday” thing for a while now, and have finally decided to jump on the bandwagon. I thought it was just something bloggers did (which isn’t wrong), but there’s actually a homebase! Who knew?
Anyway, withHealer’s Touch due to be released in January, I thought I might work on garnering some interest.

Llew walks the line between life & death
So, here goes a snippet that I hope works out of context:
“I can fight,” said Llew.
“Yo...

[Music] Building a Playlist
So, I’m on the road to publication – Yay! Say it with me: YAY!
Anyway, I’ve been thinking of my marketing, from a book trailer to cover design to the BOOK RELEASE PARTAY! That’s right, it’s a partAy, baby, yeah! So, I’ve been thinking about what music I’d love to have playing, and while at my usual parties I’d go all dancy and stuff (granted, MY kind of dance, but still), I figure I won’t be doing much dancing at this particular shindig. No. Instead, I want to set the mood of the book.
So, I ha...

Starting over …
I have got to say, starting a whole new novel is scary stuff!

Structuring the telling (Photo credit: bgblogging)
I’ve learned so much through writingHealer’s Touch that I’d love to think I can apply to this new book earlier on, with the intention of completing and publishing in a shorter time than I haveHT. The good ol’ “Easier said than done” comes to mind right about now. When I think about story structure and outlining, I find myself a little bitparalysed. There is no doubt about it, I appli...

[Music] My favourites: Candlebox
Hello!
I just felt like throwing in a random music post, really. A celebration of where some of my own storytelling may have come from. Simple fact: music has been a huge influencer in my life.
So, as a teenager, my musical interests went through some fairly major shifts. But first, let’s go back even further (Yes! Let’s!) …
I remember my mother always having a radio on at home. Whether that really is true or not is of little consequence … it’s what I remember. Always music. The Beach Boys “Coco...

[Music] A Sense of Opening …
Something I rather like about Wattpadis that you can post videos alongside the chapters you post — this could be a video of you explaining the process of writing, or some other information about the chapter, or it could be a music video …
Since music is a major influence in almost everything I do, of course I set about trying to line up the most appropriate songs for the chapters I submitted (very few, now thatHealer’s Touch is set to be published soon …)
Here’s what I chose for the opening of...

Grief … Like a rollercoaster hiding in your closet
Today is … today.

A trip to a farm. “I’m in the back of a ute! I’m a REAL dog, ma!”
It’s the first of October here in New Zealand. This morning, when I realised the date, I also recalled, of course, what tomorrow is … October 2nd. Which was, and always will be, my first dog Griffin’s birthday.
And I realised something … I miss him, deeply.
Griffin came into my life when I was a 17 year old school girl, potentially on the cusp of making stupid decisions. But I didn’t need to. I had Griffin. I love...

Work In Progress Challenge
I just got “tagged” by R E Hunter of Writing & Random Thoughts with the Work In Progress Challenge. I’m supposed to answer the following ten questions about my Work In Progress (WIP).
I’m in an interesting situation in that I am in the process of finishing off the WIP I have been working on for the past nearly four years (yes, ouch!) – it has been accepted for publication by Kristell Ink, and is due out early 2013. In the meantime, I will be going on with the next book in the series. In that r...
