Blood of the Sixth official blurb:
In the quaint Southern town of Port Bella Rosa, something sinister lurks beneath the cobblestones. When hunger stirs a centuries-old evil, a demon awakens, releasing its hunters in search of prey. Jackals swarm from the mist, seeking out quarry, sating their master with offerings of human flesh.
Allie Kent catches a glimpse of the first victim: a corpse with its organs, muscle and bone all consumed, leaving nothing more than skin behind. While police work to solve the unexplained murder, more bodies are found mutilated. Finally convinced the killer isn’t human, Detective Phillip Chambers is desperate to shield Allie from harm.
But something haunts Allie: shadows spill through her darkened window; nightmares invade her sleep while visions confuse her waking thoughts. With Phillip her only protection, Allie struggles to keep her independence in check while treading a thin line between reality and insanity. But is the evil dwelling beneath the stones her only true threat—or will the demons in Allie’s head have the strength to destroy them both?

Blood of the Sixth Cover Reveal
10/10
It’s coming…
In less than a week, my latest novel Blood of the Sixth will hit the shelves. I’ve crossed genres with this one and took a nose dive into horror and I must say that the change suits me well. On October 10th, Blood of the Sixth will be available in ebook and the paperback formats. If you love demons, witchcraft, shadows and copious amounts of blood and gore, then I’m sure you’ll enjoy this novel.
But beware as you read. No one is safe from the evil lurking beneath the stones.
Below you will find the fantastic cover art completed by Deranged Doctor Design. I couldn’t be more pleased with the design. I love the colors and feel that it really captures the tone of many important scenes in the novel.
Please stay tuned and drop back in on the October 10th for further updates and links.
Finally, after much anticipation, I’m excited to introduce you to the cover of my first horror novel, The Blood of the Sixth.

The Jersey Devil by Hunter Shea-Book Review
“If it can bleed, it can die.” ~The Jersey Devil by Hunter Shea
I’ve read and reviewed a plethora of books, but not many make it to my blog. Before I post one, I ask myself the following questions:
Was the writing fantastic?
Did the plot keep me excited and reading without skipping pages?
If it is horror, did it make me turn on the lights?
If the answers are yes to all of these questions, I consider the book a 5 star novel, and The Jersey Devil is definitely one of those books.
——
Old man Willet had a secret; a secret he and his family hid, and a secret they didn’t fully understand. After years of lying dormant, The Jersey Devil decided to make a reappearance. Sightings became more frequent and turning violent where they hadn’t before. Somehow tied to this creature, the Willet family, along with cryptozoologist Norm Cranston, set out to find the Devil with the intent to destroy him, and hopefully sever all ties with the monster. Read to find out if the Willets succeed, or if the Jersey Devil lives to terrorize another day.
I’ve been looking for a great horror book and definitely found it in this one. The Jersey Devil kept me awake every night reading in the dark, sometimes forcing me to get up and roam through the house turning on the lights. It did what I’d hoped. It kept me up, made me paranoid, and afraid to turn out the lights. Great work Mr. Shea!
I give this one 5 stars!

Awesome Folk
I can’t even consider releasing my latest novel, Blood of the Sixth, without giving a giant high five and a shout out to all of the wonderful beta readers who put so much time and thought into giving me wonderful feedback for my novel. With this book I was brave. I didn’t hold back asking people to read it before it hit the shelves. The feedback I have received from these folks is priceless and has given me so much insight into what my readers are thinking.
Beta readers are an author’s life line. They can mean the difference between a book riddled with errors, inconsistencies and plot holes, or a possible best seller. Independent authors rely on one another and those awesome bloggers and readers who support us. Without this fantastic network of people, we would be lost.
I want to thank these amazing people. Look them up on Twitter, follow them and tell them how truly awesome they are! I sure think so!
Julie @mousefan98 – Julie was the first person to read my book besides my super talented editor. This was her first beta read and I must say, she did a wonderful job and gave me some fantastic feedback! I was so happy I was brave and asked her to read for me. Julie is one of the coolest people I’ve met on Twitter. She is an avid Walking Dead fan like myself so if you love the show also, go give her a shout!
High Five to Julie!
James SM Parker @absinthe666 – James is the author of Love or Suicide and the Life in Between. James was a key player in helping me clear up a little confusion at the end of my book. He enjoys heavy metal too so say hello to him on Twitter, give him the metal horns \m/ and check out his book!
Stay metal my friend.
Phil Price @PhilPrice19 – Phil was my third reader. Phil boosted my confidence in this story. Although constructive feedback is important, to hear someone say you have a great story really makes an author feel better about their work. Phil is the author of the novel Unknown. I finished it this summer and am patiently waiting for book two!
Keep up the awesome writing!
Melissa Manes @Melissa_Editing – I’m not sure how I was fortunate enough to get Melissa to beta read my book but I am so happy I did. She not only read it and gave me some valuable suggestions; she gave me some great edits to boot! If you need a fantastic editor, check out her website scriptionis.com.
Keep the edits coming!
Lisa Orchard @lisaorchard1 – Lisa gave me a ton of great suggestions and I was so lucky to get such an awesome, sweet lady to beta read for me. Lisa is the author of The Super Spy series and The Starlight Chronicles. If you enjoy YA, check out her website at lisaorchard.com. You won’t be disappointed.
Keep the mysteries coming!
Dustin Botta @dustinbotta — Dustin was the first to point out I used yellow-orange way too often. I remember thinking one of the times I used it, “Wow that really sounds good.” Being the dork that I am, I probably said that three times, and not realized I’d used it twice already. I swear I wasn’t drinking while writing. (Well, maybe not.) Along with that helpful hint, he gave me a ton of edits and great suggestions. Thank you, Dustin! Dustin Botta is an author, poet and musician. Check out his website at dustinbotta.com.
Keep writing, rocking and rolling!
David Spell @davidwspell – David was a little concerned that I could get into a weirdo’s head so easily and write such a creepy character. Haha! I’m a bit of a weirdo so it probably wasn’t too hard for me. Not the kind of weirdo in the book, thank goodness but I am still a weirdo nonetheless. David is an avid horror reader and gave me a ton of helpful suggestions. David is super cool, so go over and say hi to him on Twitter and check out his website at thescaryreviews.com. I guarantee you’ll find a great book there.
Keep blogging those great books!
Rich @horrorbookshelf Rich asked a couple of questions that I’m sure many readers would have asked themselves and really helped me to tie up a few lose ends. Rich also helped to boost my confidence in the novel. I really was excited to have him read because I know he is an avid horror reader and reviewer. I figured he’d know his stuff and he didn’t disappoint. Thanks so much! Rich has a really cool website where you might find a plethora interesting stuff. Check it out at thehorrorbookshelf.com.
Keep sharing the scare!
Joseph A. Pinto @JosephAPinto How in the holy crap did I manage to get the co-founder of Pen of the Damned to beta read for me? I was super brave! Plus I think I bugged the crap out of him just a little. Haha I know Joe is a busy fella with his writing and managing POD but he was kind enough to say yes when I asked him to beta read. Joe also gave me much needed encouragement, confidence and a couple of edits, and for that I am truly appreciative. If you are out and about, say hi to him over on Twitter, check out PenOfTheDamned.com, or even better, check out his books at his Amazon Author page.
Keep on penning the damned!

Regenerate
Evil descends, dealing death beneath my protection; spitting crimson onto cobblestones, staining their age worn surface.
Thunderheads swell in the thick midnight sky; belching anger from their gullets, cleansing the time-honored ritual.
Pulsing beneath the damp stone surface, latent life resides, drinking the remnants of death, gathering and spreading strength.
A telltale flicker, a street lamp breathes. Flushing rust from its cast iron skin, it blackens, splashing healing light across the wasting stones, pushing youth into their haggard grey pores.
Renewing.
Shadows scatter across a building’s façade, fleeing over decayed trim, darting between shards of shattered reflections.
High above the pursuing light, they seek sanctuary. Spilling through the aperture’s void, his mass reforms; rising from scraps of blackened mist, driving light from his core.
Satisfied, he lingers only for a moment.
His offering accepted; he drops into darkness.

Author interview with K.R Rowe
Hey check it out. Phil Price was kind enough to interview me. :)
Another week….. You know how it now goes by now.
I am pleased to be interviewing another great author from across the pond. Karen is cool, and when she’s not penning great books, she’s helping her fellow authors spread the word of literature.
Hello. Tell us a little bit about yourself to get us started:
I spent my childhood in Chattanooga, TN and still resides there today. My father was born and raised near Tellico Plains, in the heart of Tennessee’s tract of the Appalachian Mountains. Because I also have my mother’s South Carolina heritage, my southern roots run deep. From a very young age, my overpowering love of the mountains continues to draw me ever towards them. When not tied to my desk, my free time with my family is often spent enjoying any activity that can take me far from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and…

Amber and Blue Excerpt

Chapter 19
Warning
Alex stood silent, his gaze intent as he watched Grace watering chrysanthemums in the garden. Her soft humming voice drifted over him like a sweet cotton breeze. The mid-autumn air was beginning to cool. A week before Thanksgiving, they had set the date. Neither of them wanted to wait. His attention drifted to thoughts of the honeymoon. The tropics would be nice this time of year but his mind strayed far from the climate. A smile raised his lips and he leaned his head back, groaning with anticipation. Her humming continued, but lost in an erotic daydream, he didn’t notice when it stopped.
***
“Hello Grace.”
Looking up, she noticed a man standing nearby, but she wasn’t alarmed—her parents expected the pool man. He seemed overdressed for this type of work but maybe, she thought with a shrug, he might be the boss.
“Hello,” she said. “Come with me and I’ll show you to the pool.”
“I’m not here for the pool.”
His gold honey gaze poured over her and lingered. She swallowed hard and took a step back.
“You may not remember me, ma petite, but I came to say hello. I needed—” Stepping toward her, he stopped, clearing his throat. “I wanted to see how you are.” He seemed lost in thought for a moment, but then continued with the smile of a nervous youth. “And I need to tell you something very important.”
Grace took another step back, looking around for Alex. This man looked familiar, but she couldn’t quite remember him. “Who are you? What do you want to tell me?”
***
After realizing he had lost sight of Grace, Alex scanned the area, finding her. She spoke to a man in the garden, a man he recognized. He greeted the stranger with a knee in his back, a pistol to his skull, and his face shoved into the ground.
Alex hissed, pressing his gun harder against his head, “Prepare to die this time, you piece of—” Grace’s gasp from behind stopped him, and Alex glanced her way. “Consider yourself lucky—again,” he said, his voice low, jaw clenched, his hand shaking with anger. It would be so easy to pull the trigger. “I should’ve killed you when I had a chance, but now, here you are again, just as I suspected.”
Small rocks and sticks dug skin from Lucien’s cheek as he struggled to speak. “I have something of grave importance to tell you.”
“I don’t need to hear anything you have to say!”
The cold barrel of the gun imprinted a red circle against Lucien’s temple and Alex fought the urge to mix his brains with the dirt.
“She is in danger!” Lucien said, his voice urgent and tense. “He is coming back for her, and he’s more dangerous this time because it isn’t the money he wants. It’s revenge.”
Alex pulled the gun away, “Who?”
“The man in bunker with me, his name is André. Do not let her out of your sight.”
Alex stood.
Lucien attempted to get to his feet.
“Don’t even think about it!” Shoving Lucien to the ground with the sole of his boot, Alex called over his shoulder. “Grace, call the police!”
“This is my number.” Holding out a card, Lucien slid it across the ground. “If anything happens, anything at all—call me. I’m going back to Québec. I can protect her if I’m there.”
“I’ve seen your kind of protection!” Alex shouted. “She almost died because of you!” His anger returned, burning hot from the memory of how he had found her.
“Are you listening?” Lucien yelled from the ground.
Alex squatted next to him, snarling low, “Why should I trust you?”
“You have no choice.”

SKIN
Once alive, I now hang dead and blackened from your weary shoulders.
You covet my warmth, yet your heat permeates my every fiber.
Peeled away from my life giving blood, my supple skin toughened.
Now I envelope you, protecting you from the storms that surround you.
You pull me close, until the unyielding heat creeps between our skins. Your body burns and you shrug me away.
You discard me, pushing me into the darkness, but I wait.
A chill will prick at your senses, your storms will return, and I shall press my skin against yours, and comfort you once more.

Review of Waking Wolfe by S.L. Shelton
I picked up this book a while back and I am so glad I did. It didn’t take me very long to figure out why it’s a best seller. It really is an awesome novel.
Scott Wolfe, a computer geek, security specialist and average Joe, finds himself knee deep in a quagmire of kidnapping, organized crime, murder, and international espionage when his ex-girlfriend is kidnapped abroad. Instead of fiddle-farting around and waiting for the CIA to find her, Scott Wolfe avoids them altogether, and with the help of some old friends and a gorgeous new friend, he sets out to find her himself.
Will he succeed?
This book rolls like a locomotive. Once it gets moving, it’s fast and non stop and all you can do is hold on and enjoy the ride. I loved the detail Shelton put into this story and am very impressed with his computer, military, and geographical knowledge. All of these things along with the ability to weave a fantastic plot, enhance the story and make this book a great thriller.
The characters feel real and are well developed, even the mysterious heroine.
The switch from first person to third person is difficult to pull off, but it worked quite well for this story and the author did a fantastic job. I really enjoyed this book and plan to continue reading the series to find out what happens next.
Overall, Waking Wolfe is my top read of 2015 and Shelton has now made it to the number one slot of my favorite independent author list.
I give this one 5 stars!
