The first story in the new Wolves of New Hampshire will be released today.

“When Nadia St. John applies for the position of secretary at an outdoor adventure center in New Hampshire, she has little idea of the activities that take place at the isolated lodge, or of its convoluted and bloody history.

A mysterious package, delivered on a stormy night by a half-dressed boy, tantalizes her with clues about her past, and her family’s disappearance fifteen years ago. Will the self-styled Sean Ireland, center manager, protect her from her past, or force her to confront it?”

Luminosity

Fifty years ago, a delicate truce was formed between three of the largest packs of shape-shifters in New Hampshire, ending centuries of bloodshed. Nadia St. John’s grandmother brought together the three packs by mating with all three Alphas. Their progeny, three sons and a daughter, would grow up to become the new leaders…

This is not the way love is supposed to start… is it?

When arriving in Scotland, Aiden Jacobson is ready to take on the task of setting up Cole Enterprise’s newest underground headquarters. But when their most-wanted criminal, Robert de Fleur, goes into hiding, Aiden is placed undercover at a local coffee shop. His mission—gather intel from Brenda Anderson, sister of Robert de Fleur, while posing as a barista at The Grounded Bean.

Coffee shop owner Brenda Anderson needs all the help she can get when it comes to keeping the Bean up and running. Unaware of his ulterior motives, Brenda brings the mysterious and handsome Aiden in with only one thing on her mind… Airen. Maybe her gypsy-souled niece wouldn’t wander quite so far if she had someone like Aiden to keep her grounded.

Thrown together by circumstance, Airen becomes part of Aiden’s mission when Robert de Fleur emerges from hiding, demanding something none of them can give. Knowing Robert won’t stop until he gets what he wants, Aiden is ordered to stick as close as possible to keep an eye on them.

Staying at Brenda’s seems to be the simplest solution… until he wakes up in Airen’s bed.

Making a valiant attempt to shove his growing feelings aside, Aiden forces himself to walk away and protect Airen from afar. Unfortunately, his plan backfires, and Robert de Fleur uses that weakness to make his move.

Kicking himself for allowing his feelings to get in the way of the mission, Aiden sets out to do what he should have done all along… take out Robert de Fleur once and for all. Can Aiden stick to the mission, or will Airen tear down every defense he puts in place and gain complete entrance to his heart?

Sonya Loveday, first and foremost is a reader, an avid one. It is of that love that brought her to purchasing her first laptop in 2009, and publishing her first novel, Casted, in 2013.

In early 2014, Sonya expanded Casted and then went on to publish Spelled, the sequel to Casted in March, wrapping up the series, and her stint with Paranormal Romance. For now.

Not long after the completion to the Casted Series, Sonya tried her hand at New Adult/Coming of Age, a sub-genre of Contemporary Romance. Thusly, the Six were born with The Summer I Fell, which released at the end of July 2014. The demand from readers was instantaneously, which brought about End Note, the second book of the series in December 2014.

To date, Sonya lives in Central Florida with her husband, and two kids, and is currently working on the fourth book of the Six Series and a super secret project with fellow author Candace Knoebel. Be sure to keep an eye out for upcoming news on Sonya’s website!

Quarter of a million words?

At the end of May, I compiled a list of all the work I had done in the year so far, including dates and words counts and I was staggered by the result.

In total, counting my ghostwriting work AND any progress on my ‘Angels’ trilogy, I’d written 225,000 real words! And most of them were the in right order too!

I did say most :D

quarter million speedo nearly

It was probably higher, considering all the plot discussions and editing work, but who has time to word-count their emails?

Not me.

So I stuck to ‘words written as stories’ instead.

I’ve never been a NaNo person, believing that the result does not justify the means.

However, when I consider that in five months, I’ve averaged 45k per month, not far short of the target 50k enjoyed by NaNo participants, I took another look.

Maybe, this year, i could give it a try.

So, I got to thinking, 225,000 is not far away from 250,000, which is quarter of a million. What a target! I still have a lot of project work, so to keep myself writing would not be a problem. Would it be possible, then, reach the magic quarter million by the middle of the year (20th June)?

It has to be taken into consideration that I have a great many other things going on in my life at the moment, including recuperation from knee surgery. Still, who isn’t crazy-busy these days?

It’s looking good so far, with 234k under my belt at the time of writing.

I’m going for it.

I’m gonna do it if I have to make my fingers bleed.

Watch this space.

Now, I must get back to my (red hot & smoking) keyboard and:

Aiming BIG!

With a little encouragement from a friend, I’ve written and submitted a short play to the BBC’s ‘Opening Lines‘ submissions competition.

Pitching between 1900 and 2000 words in mainly monologue format, it was an interesting challenge and a departure from my previous work.

Some of last year’s winning submissions can be read on-line here. They range from interesting to slightly disturbing. The format is condensed prose, almost poetic in its intensity.

My entry, which details an Army veteran’s fight back from depression, hits the spot at exactly 1950 words. The veteran’s carer encourages him to write about the circumstances of his debilitating injury, something which leads him out of the darkness.

Fingers crossed that it’s well received, although I’ll have no idea if I’ll be a hero or a zero until May 15th.

Wish me luck?

In the meantime, I continue to

Finally making it pay?

not much money

The month of December represents a landmark date in my writing career. Previously, I’ve ploughed any income from my writing (not very much, it has to be said) into clearing the debts that cloud my conscience and concentration.

No-one likes having debts hanging over them, right? Get rid as soon as possible is the plan.

Was the plan…

My little arrangement was working well, until the end of October, when everything changed.

For the past two months, I’ve been stuck at home, resting my injured knee. Despite performing home-based duties during this time, my employer has decided the time had come to cut my pay, leaving me desperately short of funds.

Enter my emergency writing fund slash advertising back-up slash paperback purchasing pot. It wasn’t a great deal of notes, but it plugged a very real hole in my cashflow. This is the first time I’ve had to use my hobby slash future career (fingers crossed) as a crutch and you know what? It feels great to have it there as a fall-back.

Maybe one day, hopefuly sooner rather than later, my earnings as a writer might be there to support me full-time. But for now, I’m grateful for the gift that allows me to create something from nothing, something from my imagination, something that people are willing to buy from me.

And that is why I continue to:

Paperbacks galore!

Voa Paperbacks

The first complete copies of A Vengeance of Angels have arrived in the UK, courtesy of Amazon CreateSpace, drawing a neat line under the story and declaring it to be completed.

My first book suffered from a case of couldn’t-leave-it-alone-itis. However, with some thanks to the timetable set by my editor, the second book will not suffer this fate.

With ‘Vengeance’ in print, I am content to leave it alone – barring the surfacing of any undiscovered typos, of course.

So now, I am determined to crack on with the third book in the trilogy and:
