Living Consciously Series
Part 4- Conscious Thoughts
Learning to live consciously is not an easy task by any means. Those of you who have been following my blog posts and are attempting to apply them to your life, know what I mean. However, I find myself repeating the same words over and over again lately, "Nothing you do that is worthwhile is going to come easy." So, whose up for another challenge with me? How many of you out there will take the time to grow spiritually and as a person? How many of you are able to recognize the value of these posts and share them with your friends, because you know others need to at least "hear" the message?
With that being said, I now wish to share with you one of the hardest lessons I have had to learn for personal and spiritual growth. I am still working on mastering these, myself, but everything has become so much clearer and more peaceful the further I progress. I wish the same peace for you.
Let's begin, shall we....
The art of learning to consciously think is one of the hardest things I have ever tried to do. I invite you, right now, to simply try to allow your mind to be blank and you will get a sense of what I mean. No matter how hard you try, there will still be random thoughts. Even if you manage to see nothing but a blank, black screen in your mind; you will be thinking on the color there- the blackness- the void. Our brains are essentially super-computers that process, sort, and store more information, much quicker than any man-made computer. No wonder we are all so tired. Our brains never shut off, it never sleeps, and though our bodies get virus'- our brains continue ticking away.
So it is really important to consciously monitor your thoughts. There you can learn a great deal about ourselves that our brains are already aware of. We simply do not take the time to process it consciously. We can learn who we truly are. We will learn what drives and motivates our actions and feelings. We often think we know this already, but you would be greatly suprised at what you find.
Furthermore, it is important to consciously monitor our thoughts because sometimes we find old, outdated thought patterns that need to be sent to the trash bin, just like you do with outdated information clogging up your pc. Once you begin releasing this old information, you improve brain performance. You release much dead weight in your mind. You become less and less tired and are much more able to function faster, clearer and better than ever before.
So how do we begin monitoring our thoughts in a conscious way? Well, for me, it began being aware of all the negative things I was repeating to myself daily about my own self. I began to really pay attention to these thoughts and every time I would catch one of those thoughts, I would immediately and consciously change it to something positive. I would repeat the new positive over and over again until I could feel a shift in the vibrations and became happier. I didn't stress over doing this, however, every time I would catch the thoughts, I would consciously work to change it.
Once I got that part under control, I moved on to thoughts about others. I worked hard to keep in mind that even though I did not understand other's motivations and reasoning behind their actions, they are still a child of God and I must accept them as such. If God is All-Perfect, then how could he have created any less than perfect? There is always a reason for everything, even if we don't understand it yet. Myself, I tend to work diligently to understand the things that I don't yet understand. So keeping in mind that we all belong to God, we are all connected in some way, I worked to understand other's motives. Many times, we do not even fully understand our own motives for our actions. It is my prayer and wish that more people began to understand this for themselves and understand others in order to bring about true peace on this planet. This way we are able to heal our relationships with others. This part was much easier for me.
Finally, I began monitoring my random, moment to moment thoughts. I consciously began trying to figure out where they came from, why they were there. Was it from something I had seen on television, read somewhere, heard from someone else? I began to analyze whether or not it was useful or more random garbage (spam, if you will). Was the thought ultimately for my, someone else's or the planets highest and greatest good or was it a hindrance to my growth? By now I was getting pretty good at throwing out the garbage and keeping what was ultimately there for good reasons.
I looked at all my likes and dislikes too. These are thoughts as well. I had to rework why I liked the things I did and why I didn't like other things. I discovered that much of what I thought I liked was simply because someone else said I should. So, I began the arduous task of realizing what I actually did like for no other reason than, "I" liked it. It made ME feel happy.
The more I consciously "thought"- the quieter my mind became. My bloodpressure dropped, my anxieties and fears began to vanish. I felt better than I had in years. I began feeling the same happiness, joys, peace and calm I had felt as a small child. I now know who I am and what I am here to do, because now I have room to truly hear my Angels and guides.
