"Big Enough For The Entire Universe" gets a mention on Publisher's Weekly

Fish Eats Lion: New Singaporean Speculative Fiction

Like its country of origin, this collection focusing on Singapore is a mélange of styles and cultures. The 22 short stories by novice, emerging, and established writers range widely over genres, with uneven but intriguing results. Highlights include Ng Yi-Sheng's "Agnes Joaquim, Bioterrorist," a steampunk take on a biologist trying to change the world, and Shelly Bryant's "Rewrites," where research into synthetic biosystems takes an unexpected turn. Marc de Faoite contributes "Last Time Kopitiam," in which a young man unwittingly becomes a tool for urban renovation. Both Victor Fernando R. Ocampo's "Big Enough for the Entire Universe" and Justin Ker's "010011010100010101001101010011110101001001011001" show how bereft women deal with deep loss, but with very different outcomes. "Dewy" by Grace Chia Krakovic and "The Disappearance of Lisa Zhang" by Dave Chua are both uncomfortable takes on domestic employment's darker side. Lundberg (Embracing the Strange) combines accessibility with a uniquely Singaporean flavor in his selections. SF readers looking to expand their horizons will enjoy visiting new worlds from an unaccustomed point of view. (Nov.)

Straits Times Review of Fish Eats Lion

“Jostling for top position are endearing tales such as Yuen Kit Mun’s “Feng Shui Train,” in which feng shui experts try to stop MRT breakdowns, and J.Y. Yang’s “[Where] No Cars Go,” which has a ghost Maserati zooming around the Marina Bay Financial Centre. Cultural Medallion recipient Isa Kamari’s “Green Man Plus” gets my vote for a horror story that is just as creepy when read in daylight, as a senior citizen contemplates his approaching end, while Victor Fernando R. Ocampo’s “Big Enough For The Entire Universe” is a well-written doomsday narrative featuring characters that could have come from the HDB flats next door. For tales with a twist told in the charming style of O. Henry, there are offerings such as Stephanie Ye’s “The Story Of The Kiss,” in which an alien tries to understand love, and Ivan Ang’s “The Digits,” in which animals develop a strange relationship with lottery game 4-D. However, top marks must go to poet Ng Yi-sheng’s “Agnes Joaquim, Bioterrorist,” which puts a steampunk spin on the history of the orchid fancier who gave Singapore its signature flower. Entertaining in this post-colonial era, it hints at how storytellers can become mythmakers, with the power to change the world.” 3.5/5 stars —Akshita Nanda, The Straits Times - http://jasonlundberg.wordpress.com/bi...
