To the Strongest is Out!
My latest novel, To the Strongest, is available on Amazon.com:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07QSV2YKJ/
It took me a while to get there, but it's finally done. Now I'm off to work on the sequel as well as a couple of other projects (including another foray in a different genre).

New Mil-SF Anthology and Upcoming Warp Marines Novel
Good news first: I have a short story in the newly-released military science fiction anthology Backblast Area Clear, Volume One.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L7V6NF8
My story, "Bushido Jackson and the Kaiju Menace," is not set in any of my previous universes; it's something I've been working on and off, a sort of tongue-in-cheek world where all the action movies of the 1980s and '90s happened at the same time, along with a liberal dose of other nods to fictional tales. Lots of gunplay and violence, plus aliens, monsters great and small and cybernetic dinosaurs. There are also great stories by the likes of Richard Fox, J.R. Handley and Rick Paltrow (among many others).
In other - less than great - news, I'm still working on To The Strongest, the first in a new series set in the Warp Marines universe. I had to rewrite a lot of the first draft after alpha readers found the book wasn't jelling, especially for people who hadn't read the previous books. I have to make sure the book is good enough to stand up to the original series, and it's taking me longer than I expected to get it there. My apologies, and thank you for your patience.
A December release is still possible, but with the holidays it may end up coming out in January instead (editors and proofreaders take time off during Christmas, for which I can't blame them, especially since the book was supposed to be done months ago).
In a week or two, I'll do a year's end post-mortem. 2018 has been interesting. And as always, I am very grateful to all the readers who've made it possible for me to write for a living.

Third Quarter in Review - What's Next?
Outlands Justice has been out for almost three weeks, long enough to get a feel for where the book is going to go, sales wise. The novel is doing better than both my superhero-althist and my horror series but ranks far below my mil-sf. It's doing well enough that it warrants a sequel, but not so well that I'll get to it immediately. I will write it in the second half of 2019.
For the rest of the year and the first half of the next, I'll concentrate on the Known Galaxy universe with a follow-up series to the Warp Marine Corps. The Bicentennial War will begin in September-October with To The Strongest, set some three decades after the end of Havoc of War. Old and new characters will face new threats to the US, with plenty of action both in space and on the ground. The plan is to release the full four-book series in quick succession (every 60 days is the goal).
After that, I may try my hand at a different universe for mil-sf (something more purely sf without any supernatural elements), or perhaps something in LitRPg, plus as I mentioned before at least one sequel for OJ. But first, it's going to be Warp Marines, lots of them!

Outlands Justice Is Out!
My twelfth novel, Outlands Justice, is available on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G98BLYC/
This one is a bit of a gamble, another foray into a different genre: fantasy with touches of steampunk. I'm curious to see how it does. Will it be a success like the Warp Marine series, a dud like my horror novels, or somewhere in between like superheroes/alternate fantasy?
It's pretty much up to you, my dear readers. Hopefully you will find the tale of a hard-drinking fallen hero and a young woman obsessed with revenge entertaining.

Land of Gods and Monsters
My newest book, Land of Gods and Monsters, is available on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4SV3QZ/).
The book has two novellas and two short stories. The largest novella is Land of Gods and Monsters, my entry into the fantasy genre (more or less). We'll see how it does. Meanwhile, still hard at work on the next novel, Outlands Justice (also fantasy), which will be released later in the spring or early summer. After that, I'll start work on the first novel of the next Warp Marines series, The Bicentennial War.

2018: What's Next?
The last quarter of 2017 wasn't as productive as I hoped. I'd been trying to release the first book in my new series in November or December. Unfortunately, the original storyline didn't work to my satisfaction, so I ended up having to rewrite the book almost from scratch.
The new story Outlands Justice, Book One of A Crucible of Worlds, will be out later this year. It's a new genre for me, combining fantasy and steampunk with Old West themes and elements. The blurb and a character sketch is up on my website (www.cjcarella.com).
Once Outlands Justice is out, I'll start working on a new series set in the Warp Marines universe, The Bicentennial War. The first book of that series, To The Strongest, takes place some twenty-odd years after the end of Havoc of War, and features old and new characters as the US and the Known Galaxy face a new crisis.
2016 and 2017 were very good to me, thanks to all the readers who gave my books a chance and enjoyed them enough to read through every sequel. I hope 2018 continues that trend.

And It's Out
Havoc of War, the fifth and final installment of the Warp Marine Corps series, is available in ebook format on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B074KPBKGG/
Hope you enjoy the book, and if you did, consider leaving a review at Amazon or Goodreads.
Although this ends the current stoyline, I'm far from done with the Known Galaxy and its denizens. There will be a follow-up series, tentatively titled The Bicentennial War plus the delayed but still in the works space opera series I've mentioned before.
Next I'm trying my hand on a different genre, and hopefully enough of you kind readers will give it a try to make it a success.
As always, I'm very grateful for your support.

Havoc of War Preview
The book is done and undergoing proofreading, but meanwhile I've posted the first few chapters on my website:
http://www.cjcarella.com/havoc_of_war
This novel concludes the story that began with Decisively Engaged but it won't be the last one in this setting. My plan (and yeah, plans have a way of not surviving long, but that's the plan) is to start a new series set a few years later. I'm also working on a short story that will appear in an upcoming anthology (more on that later). There is also the long-delayed space adventure also set in the same world, so the Warped Universe is not going to end anytime soon.
Going to take a small chance in the next couple of months and try a different genre for my next novel. Sometimes it works (the Warp Marines series was my biggest success to date) and sometimes it doesn't. We shall see.

Short Stories and Other News
I thought I'd posted about this, but better late than never. One of my short stories has been featured in the Galactic Frontiers anthology, alongside such best-selling and up-and-coming authors as Amy DuBoff, C.C. Ekeke and Chris Fox.
The story, "Lori's War," takes place in the Warp Marines universe, around the time of the events of No Price Too High. It was fun writing about a young woman and an embittered Marine fighting space pirates, and hope those who try out the story enjoy it, along with the other tales in the anthology.
I'm also putting together a submission to another couple of anthologies, to be announced once it's accepted. I've always been fond of short stories (I cut my fiction-writing teeth doing short blurbs for gaming books (putting together a coherent story in a couple of paragraphs is a fun challenge), and it's great to get a chance to do some.
Meanwhile, I'm working on the final third of Havoc of War. Won't jinx it by predicting when it will be done, but it's coming along. Sales of the rest of the books in the series continue to be great; as always, I'm very thankful for my readers' support.
