Sorry for the last message. I wanted to ask you, as a writer , how do you think a story can have so much impact on a person? What's really magical about books, in your opinion?

I think about this a good bit.  For me, books are a far more intimate connection between reader and writer than other mediums I work in.  In film or tv, the audience is supplied with both the story and the visuals - little imagination needed to follow along.

A book is a shared creation.  I may write the words - but the world they evoke is the reader’s own.  This shared creation makes writing worthwhile, for me at least.  And I think it’s why the written word isn’t going out of style anytime soon.

When Eternals...

Of the primeval Priests assum’d power,

When Eternals spurn’d back his religion;

And gave him a place in the north,

Obscure, shadowy, void, solitary.

Eternals I hear your call gladly,

Dictate swift winged words, & fear not

To unfold your dark visions of torment.

From The Book of Urizen, by William Blake
