An Interview with Whitley Gray @whitleygray

Please welcome m/m and erotic romance writer Whitley Gray...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?
Taylor Caldwell, The Romance of Atlantis. She wrote it when she was twelve, which I found fascinating. It was a fantasy romance by today’s standards, I suppose.
Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?
Josh Lanyon. He is the master, the kind of writer I aspire to be.
Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)
No, I don’t think so. I believe in attraction at first sight, which has potential for love. Love is too complex for that boom! On first sight.
Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?
Strolling. My editor did virtual eye rolls after awhile. Now I’m attuned to how my characters move—no strolling.
Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?
Yes, I’ve had writer’s block. I think part of it was trying to shoehorn a story into a frame that couldn’t work. Once I decided to let the story be what it wanted to be, things got better.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
I haven’t traveled widely. Right now I’d say in Colorado. It’s what I know.
If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?
I’d say Ty in the WIP. He’s a man after my own heart, and I’ve poured a lot of myself into him.
What are you reading right now?
Just started Dead in LA by Lou Harper
When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?
Either, as long as I can read the series from the start!
If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?
Yikes! I’m not big on reality TV. Maybe Bear Grylls Get Out Alive.
What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?
I can’t talk about it!
Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.
Bradley Cooper, maybe.
What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?
Right now I’m finding Facebook to be the best. I do blog, but that’s gone on the back burner with edits this summer.
Favourite movie?  It changes. Right now, The Words and Rocky Horror Picture Show.   Dream Vacation?
 Italy, some day.
Dream Car?
 Hmm…Porsche 911!
Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?
Magnum Gold Mini ice cream bars. They’re delicious!
What can readers look forward to next?
For one, there’s a Christmas novella in the works. The next novel is about a doctor who travels to Sudan for seven months, risking his relationship with a math professor.
Please tell us about your newest release.
Villain Isaac Olivetti wants to be governor of Colorado, and he's willing to make big sacrifices for the honor—illegal and deadly sacrifices. Homicide detective Beck Stryker was shot and lost fellow detective Danny Halliday in the course of an investigation; he suffers from PTSD, pain, and survivor’s guilt. Zach Littman is a forensic psychiatrist who has become an FBI profiler, running from demons of his own. When a series of home invasions leads DPD to call in the FBI, Beck and Zach are thrown together, working against a criminal mastermind who will stop at nothing to win.

Blurb:
Denver homicide cop and shooting survivor Beck Stryker lives to solve the case that left him with PTSD, chronic pain, and killed his co-investigator four months previous. Now his career hinges on his ability to work with the man who shut down his advances two years ago.

After last parting ways with Beck, psychiatrist-turned-FBI profiler Zach Littman never anticipated seeing the detective again. Being sent to Denver to work on a series of killings that have continued after the only suspect died is bad enough. Discovering the detective in charge is Beck leaves Zach gritting his teeth and girding his loins.

The last thing either of them needs is romantic entanglement with a fellow investigator, but danger is a powerful aphrodisiac. The case heats up, and friction between them ignites a fire neither can ignore, first at work and then in the bedroom. As they zero in on the plot behind the murders, the crosshairs zero in on Beck and Zach.

Excerpt:

Damn rainy weather.

Beck’s left shoulder ached, and he rearranged his holster. If this kept up, he’d need pain meds to sleep tonight. Meanwhile, time to take a break and sneak some ibuprofen. Even if it was a nonsteroidal, couldn’t have the boss thinking he wasn’t 100 percent and ready for the field.

He made for the men’s room. In a stall, he dry-swallowed three of the blue gelcaps, then peed and washed his hands. On the way back to his desk, he stopped at the drinking fountain and gulped water, making sure the pills would dissolve. Twenty minutes, and relief should kick in.

Beck reached his desk and lowered himself into the chair. A pile of reports sat waiting for his attention. Ridiculous. He was a homicide detective, not a secretary. This was a waste of his skills. Field cases waited, infinitely more interesting and requiring a detective’s intuition.

Across the room, Van met his gaze and looked away. Beck spun his chair toward the windows behind him. Sheets of water rippled down the windows, blurring the building across the street.

After the shooting, Beck’s ex-lover had made it clear as still water that there was nothing left between them. At least Van had understood the pressures of the job, the danger, both on the street and in the department. Homicide was a macho division, and the other detectives were unlikely to accept an alternate orientation. He and Van had agreed to keep their relationship under wraps. Had they had a relationship or just been fuck buddies?

Nights in a soft bed, Van’s hot tongue everywhere until Beck squirmed with need. A firm grip on his cock, stroking.

What would you like tonight?

Heat rushed to his groin. Mind-blowing sex—no doubt about that—but was that all they’d had?

They’d never eaten at a restaurant unless it was out of town. They’d never taken a vacation together. Van liked sun and sand and room service; Beck preferred snow and skiing and grilled steaks at the lodge. And they never stayed over at each other’s places.

Sure didn’t sound like a relationship. Hell, when he’d been lying in the hospital with his shattered shoulder pinned together, wondering if his hand would ever work again, he’d turned to Van expecting emotional support, and his lover had gunned down the only thing Beck had left.

Van had left nothing at Beck’s apartment except travel brochures.

The first time Beck had risked his heart, and he’d gotten blown away for his trouble. Staying secreted in the closet precluded Van paying attention to a disabled boyfriend. “It would look strange if I spent extra time with you,” Van had said, and he’d been careful not to visit more often than any of the others. At that point, Beck had wished his injuries had been more severe, that the bullet had hit a few inches to the right and down, preempting Van’s assault on Beck’s heart. Death had sounded better than total bereavement.

Anger had overtaken depression in short order. The first thing he’d done after arriving home was deep-six the tropical-vacation brochures littering the kitchen counter.

In the ensuing weeks, Beck had fought through the pain of physical therapy and the loss of the relationship.

As Beck’s psychologist, Jay had helped him work through most of that. And the painful inquiry about the shootings.

“Hey.” Soft brown eyes gazed down at him, wary, not welcoming. The familiar scent of Van’s bay rum aftershave reached Beck, and his stomach clenched.

“Well. What can I do for you, Detective Gates?”

Van plopped a folder on his desk. “Got a computer request that needs your expertise.”

“Don’t think I can help you.” Beck picked up a pen, tapped it on the folder. “I’m not a computer expert.”

Van’s full mouth thinned, lips pressed together. “It’s a search for vehicle license plates. Need it for the murder book.”

Helpless to resist, Beck’s gaze wandered down Van’s chambray-clad torso. The memory of burying his face in Van’s groin set off a twitch in his own.

“Hey, dickhead. I need the information.”

Head in the game, Stryker. “What’s the case?”

For a moment, Van said nothing, as if he hadn’t heard. Then, “It’s a home invasion.”

It was Beck’s turn to stare. Another one? “When did that happen?”

“What’ve you got so far?”

“You’re not on active duty in the field, Stryker. And you’re not part of my investigation.”

Beck barked a laugh. “Same supportive bastard, aren’t you?”

A faint pink materialized high on Van’s cheeks. He opened his mouth, closed it.

Beck waited, twirling the pen.

“Just get the information.” Van turned on his heel. In spite of himself, Beck took a surreptitious look at Van’s ass as he marched back to his desk. Too bad there wasn’t more to him than a hot body.

Across the room, Van’s partner, Katie Coleman, gave him a huge smile. If she were a guy, maybe she’d pique Van’s interest. As it was, she’d be wasting her time. Bats for my team, Coleman. Beck swung his gaze toward the folder.

Whether Van acknowledged it or not, Beck was part of the investigation now.

#MySexySaturday - Now We're Even #BDSM #erotic #romance #dubiousconsent

#MSSWeek16 My Sexy Saturday ~ The rules are simple. Post 7 paragraphs, 7 sentences or 7 words.
This week for My Sexy Saturday I'd like to share another excerpt from Now We're Even,  a BDSM contemporary erotic romance released in July by EXtasy Books.

If you'd like to read the previously shared excerpt shared from Now We're Even click HERE
  Blurb:

Callie takes Don't Get Mad, Get Even to a whole new level
College students Callie Read and Haines Bennett rub each other the wrong way. And that’s the way they like it. But there’s an undercurrent of sexual interest that has their mutual friends betting that it’s only a matter of time before they’re doing it the right way.

But after a typical Friday night partying at the local campus pub, Hainsey takes is upon himself to teach Callie a much needed lesson about teasing the wrong guy. For her own good, of course.

But tying her up while she’s passed out, he takes things a little too far.

The next weekend Callie retaliates, getting even and giving Hainsey some overdue instruction of his own. The proverbial tit for tat.

Can they bury the hatchet and call it even or have they effectively ruined an already precarious relationship with their raunchy one-upmanship?
Set up for this excerpt: Callie and some friends, ambush Haines on his way home and strap him into a chair in his basement apartment. At first Hainsey has no idea who is behind it. Only the beginning of Callie's payback and punishment.
Excerpt:
Callie strutted out from behind, dressed in a skimpy and tight black leather vest that showed off her beautiful breasts and some of her midriff, and a micro-mini on the bottom, complete with a riding crop, which she was slapping into her open palm.
“Holy fuck," Haines breathed. "This is a dream. I’ve had them like this about you before.”

“Aren’t you a dirty boy,” she said, smiling, her blue eyes twinkling as if she were having fun. She sat down in his lap. “And hard. Very, very hard,” she finished wiggling her backside.

Haines clenched his teeth and tried to shuffle down in the chair so he could increase the desired pressure from her hot rear end on his distended member, which wasn’t easy the way he was strapped in.

“Could you ever see yourself with another man, Haines?”

“What do you think?”

She jumped up and circled the men, attracting their curious attention. Haines tensed, hoping she wasn’t going to do what he thought. He’d just realised where he’d seen the duo before—at the bar, when Callie hinted she’d like to be the meat in their sandwich.

Daddy Morebucks by Normandie Alleman @NormandieA

Please Welcome Author Normandie Alleman...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?
This book called “O The Red Rose Tree.” I checked it out of the library every other week.

Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?

I started writing erotic fiction before I’d ever read any. (But I guess I’ve always liked “dirty books”.) In fact, I published some pieces before I had a chance to really delve into reading in my genre. (That may sound nuts but I have six kids and reading was next to impossible for years.)

Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)

Yes. Or maybe infatuation at first site. Love takes longer to bloom. But I do remember once when I was in high school being at a party where I saw a boy across the room and our eyes met. It was magical. He came over and asked me to dance. We dated for many months after that. I’m sure I thought I loved him at the time. Lol.

Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?

“That.” At this point I edit it out myself before I submit my manuscript, but in the early drafts I let myself go “that” crazy.

Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?

I’m not sure about being completely blocked. Stumped, yes. For example, today I got to a scene that I haven’t fully fleshed out in my head. Most of the time the words just flow, but sometimes it feels forced. When that happens I either muddle through, knowing I’ll have more work on that scene later, or I let it percolate and work on something else. I usually have several WIPs at various stages. When I’m not feeling one, I can usually fly with another one.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?

Right where I am. In the Southern U.S.A. We have a farm that feels like we’re out in the middle of nowhere, yet we’re four minutes from all the conveniences of a charming little town on the water. It’s heavenly.

If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?

Charmaine from the Daddy’s Girl Series. Her book will be the third in that series, and I just love her. She’s a spoiled brat with a huge trust fund and major Daddy issues. She’s the kind of girl I’d like to get into trouble with.

What are you reading right now?

“Take Me, Break Me” by Cari Silverwood. And I can’t wait to start “The Glass Wives” by my longtime Twitter friend, Amy Sue Nathan.

When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?

I hardly ever read series, but once I fall for an author’s work – I fall hard and read everything they write. Murder mysteries are my favorite, but I’d never try to write one.

If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?

Survivor. I’m a big fan, never miss an episode. In fact, the hero in Book Two of this series will probably look a lot like James – remember him? The grave digger? But I’d be voted out the first week because of my big mouth.

What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?

Oh, how I wish I could tell you…

Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.

Adam Levine. The man has an incredible instrument.

What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?

Twitter. Love it.

Favourite movie?

Gone with the Wind.

Dream Vacation?

Hawaii or Vegas with my husband.

Dream Car?

I’m so not a car person. I don’t have a dream car, except maybe any car that comes with a driver. I much prefer to ride than drive.

Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?

Pralines & Cream from Baskin Robbins. Divine.

What can readers look forward to next?

I have a story called “Subterfudge” in the “Whip It Up” Anthology from Total E-Bound. It’s a tasty tale of one sub’s attempt to learn to cook for her Dom. There’s lots of sexy fun in the kitchen in this one. You can learn more here. (link: http://www.total-e-bound.com/product.asp?P_ID=2329)

Please tell us about your newest release.

I write about BDSM relationships, and there is a “style” of D/s relationship that I adore above all others – that of Daddy Doms and their little girls. Now, I don’t mean “little” in regard to age play necessarily, though that can be a part of these relationships too. But I mean a D/s relationship where the Daddy Dom adores and cares for his girl, and he is at the center of her world. Of course he has to keep her in line so he will punish her when she needs it.

I realized I had a lot to say about these pairings so I wrote “Daddy Morebucks” and planned six more books in this series. Now that the kids are finally back in school, I can get back to writing them. Whew!

Blurb:  From the moment she laid eyes upon him, Marley knew in her heart that James was not just another client, and the difference wasn’t even the large sum of money he offered in return for a single night of submission. No, what set him apart was the fact that when she called James “daddy”, it was her own heart which beat faster and her own body which ached with need.

After that night, Marley does her best to put all thought of him behind her, using the huge payday he provided to get on her feet again and start over… until James knocks on her door and walks right back into her life. He makes her a simple offer: if she will live with him and submit to him whenever he wishes, he will provide for her every desire.

Even before she accepts his offer, though, Marley knows that what she truly wants is not money or clothing or even a fancy new car. What she longs for is a daddy who will give his little girl what she really needs… a daddy who will spank her bare bottom when she is naughty, tie her up and take her any way he pleases, and then cuddle her until she falls asleep in his arms. Can she dare to hope that James will be that daddy?

Excerpt:

Locking her eyes with his, she slipped out of her chair onto the floor and crawled on her hands and knees around to his side of the table. Setting her hands on his knee, she attempted to push back his chair. But it didn’t go as smoothly as she had planned. The chair didn’t budge.
“What are you doing?” He wore a bemused expression.
“I was going to ask you if I could please worship your cock, Daddy.” “Sir,” he corrected. “And I will be the one to tell you what to do, young lady. You are out of line.” Marley sat back on her heels, deflated. “Oh. Sorry. Sir.” “My, my. You are a little slut. I think you’ve earned a spanking for that little stunt. Come up here and lie across my lap.” Obediently, Marley draped herself over his lap, her bottom over his knee.
Slowly, he pulled her dress up around her waist and yanked her panties down to just above her knees. “Marley, do you know why I’m disciplining you?”
“Yes, Sir. Because I was naughty.” Her voice sounded strange since she was upside down.
“It is because you are to do what I ask of you, not take the initiative.”
“Yes, Sir. I’m sorry, Sir.”
“The rules were explained to you before you got here?”
“Yes, Sir,” she lied. She didn’t have any idea she wasn’t supposed to do that. Hell, she thought he would like what she did. But she’d lie there for a spanking for five G’s.
“Then you have earned a punishment for your impudence. Do you understand?”
“Yes, Sir.” She steeled herself for whatever was to come.
She flinched when his bare hand slammed down on her naked rear end. Another blow rained down, eliciting a cry from her lips. She clenched her muscles.
“Don’t tense up. Relax. Ease into the pain. It will make it easier.”
“Yes, Sir.” Her voice a whimper, she took a deep breath and tried to do as he instructed.
More swats landed on her ass. She imagined it must be getting red by now.
He was right. Not resisting was helpful. Embracing the sting helped her ride the wave of pain as he smacked her posterior.
She moaned under his hand and was grateful when he ceased the spanking and began rubbing her aching cheeks. Gently, he slid his hands over her skin, massaging her hot globes, easing her distress.
“Mmm, thank you, Sir,” she purred, disheveled and drunk with endorphins.
“You’re welcome,” he said quietly.
His fingers dipped down and brushed across her pussy lips. She strained, wanting him to touch her.

#MySexySaturday - If You Can't Stand The Heat

Here's another little tease from my upcoming contemporary m/f erotic romance If You Can't Stand The Heat just because it hit the Coming Soon page over at Total-E-Bound this week. :D
(If you'd like to read the other excerpt shared click) HERE — It's a hot one!)
Blurb:

Somebody’s about to get burnt…

An unlikely couple is brought together as celebrity judges on a new cooking show—Sesto Théodore, an American-Italian New York chef, and Syn Fully, a world-weary author of erotica. It’s instantly clear that they are complete opposites and their personalities clash, but physically, sparks fly and passion ignites.

However, after a video with some rather personal content surfaces on the Internet, Sesto immediately jumps to conclusions and accuses Syn of the breach.

Can the arrogant chef forgive and forget, or will his pride leave him out in the cold?

Reader Advisory: This book includes an occurrence of mild bondage and a scene of slightly dubious consent, as well as covert sexual contact in close proximity to bystanders. There is also reference to stalking and non-consensual taking of videos and photography and the dubious consensual use of restraints

Excerpt:

Was she for real?

Shadowing her back to the table, and being the gentleman that he was he pulled the chair out for her. Moving forward as if she were about to take her seat, he followed to push the stool in, but she hesitated. The momentum he carried propelled his hips against her backside. She would have no doubt as to his state of arousal.

Stilling at first contact, she then pressed her magnificent ass fully against him. He was sure the move was contrived. But if she wanted to play, he could too. Taking her by the waist, increasing the pressure, Sesto gave her his full measure, from root to tip. She turned her head to the side, her lips parted, almost touching his cheek.

“Ahhh,” she breathed, smiling. “That’s my boy.”

Gritting his teeth, Sesto attempted to match her tone. “Think you can handle that tool?”

“Oh, I know I could. Every last solid inch of it. The question is, do you know how to use it.”
“Only one way to find out.”

#MySexySaturday a Romantic Snip from Lost Time

This week for My Sexy Saturday I thought I'd share another extraction from my erotic time-travel romance novel Lost Time. So far, most of My Sexy Saturday posts have been down right sexy and steamy, in the throes of passion. But this week, I thought a little romance might be nice, Lock and Hannah style...

Excerpt:

He hovered near the door waiting for it to open. When it did, he took slow inventory of her blotchy cheeks. He smoothed his rough palm over her soft skin. “Please don’t be angry with me.”

“You made me feel the way that your family makes you feel. Things happened to me. Things I can’t explain. And whether you want to acknowledge it or not, what happened to me happened to you too, or we would not know the things that we know about each other.”

“I didn’t mean to make ya feel that way. I would just prefer not to discuss it in front of Malcolm. They don’t understand…”

“Neither do you. You deny it—this…what’s going on between us.”

“I may deny everythin’ else, that I can’t explain, but not that. We are the only thing that makes sense. To me, it feels right. It feels familiar. It feels like…everythin’,” he admitted.

Her eyes softened and she practically melted at his words, encouraging him to continue.

“This, whatever is happenin’, is what I’ve always been lookin’ for. I just never knew until now that I was missin’ it.” He brushed his lips over hers. “You make me crazed,” he whispered raggedly. “Everythin’ about ya. When I look at ya, when I catch your scent, when ya say my name, your smile. The things that I can see in your eyes that ya haven’t even admitted to yourself yet. Things I have not even discovered about ya, all these things call to me. I want to be a part of you.” He took her lips in another soul-searing kiss. “Let me be a part of you,” he said into her mouth. As much as she tried to blame it all on him, she was just as difficult to reach. In many ways, she was closed off to him. “Let me in,” he finished, and slid his tongue deep into her mouth. They might disagree about a great many things but in this one thing, they were in complete sync.

Blurb:

Within this frame, his curse is time…

Hannah Keys thinks she’s setting off on the trip of her dreams, but after one mishap after another—beginning with her best friend abandoning her in the airport and ending with the man of her dreams dead—she’s renaming it the vacation from hell.

When Hannah discovers a four-hundred-year-old portrait in Wales, she is intrigued and somewhat saddened by the handsome Highlander portrayed by the artist’s masterful, lifelike strokes. But when she runs into the majorly hunky model for the painting—in the flesh, in the middle of the night—she learns first-hand all about masterful strokes when she shares a night of medieval passion with him.

Lockhart Munro has been cursed inside the portrait until he meets Hannah Keys. For four hundred years, no one has heard him or seen him, let alone touched him. The one woman who can do all these things may be the key to his long-awaited freedom.

But if Hannah sets Lockhart free from his prison, will she be cursed to spend the rest of her lifetime without him?

Or perhaps freeing Lockhart will be just the beginning…

#MySexySaturday Another Snip from Swap

Around here, the song of the summer has to be Dallas Smith's Nothing But Summer.(Check it out here  Vevo/YouTube)
It doesn't hurt that Dallas is a fellow Canadian and I was a fan of his back when he was lead singer of  Default
But there's a line in the song

Couple in the water, making waves, you and me sleeping off in the shade...
and every time I hear him sing it, it brings back the imagery that was in my head while writing this scene between Hailey and Mike from my first erotic romance, Swap
Excerpt:

God, I was dying, drowning, swimming in sensation. Just having him close to me, touching me, desiring me, kissing me… It made me crazy. I was so very close to coming. I trembled, in spite of my overheated skin. I wanted to dive over the edge and take him with me. “Touch me,” I pleaded.

He cupped my backside with both hands, pulling me fully against his impressive hard-on and sending another tingling shiver of electricity through my body. “We need to cool off.”

No, I complained in my own head. Mike took my hand and we walked to the water. I didn’t want to cool off—I wanted to fuck him. Why wouldn’t he just let go and give us both what we wanted?

We held hands as we waded out. “Oh, it’s chilly,” I uttered.

He let go of my hand and wrapped his arm around my waist. I did the same to him as we strode deeper. He started to drift off to the left, where a huge willow hung over the water, its sweeping branches creating shade and—dared I hope?—privacy. As soon as we were under its cover, he pulled me to him and devoured my mouth. I revelled in his kiss, taking his mouth over the way I did in my fantasies. I didn’t hold back. Our hands were everywhere, touching, exploring. I slid my hand down over his throbbing cock, letting my fingers mould and shape him. I could feel the contained excitement rushing through it, almost boiling under the thin skin, just waiting to burst free. I wanted to do that for him. It excited me to know that I was causing him this forbidden pleasure. He moaned and elbowed my hand away, signalling he couldn’t take much more of that, then trailed his mouth down my chin, his teeth grazing my neck, making my skin sizzle with sultry heat. He kissed the swell of my breast just before scraping his teeth across my nipple through my top. I cried out when I felt the warmth of his tongue lap over me, sending a lightning bolt of need straight to my engorged cunt.

With the help of the buoyancy of the water, I floated my legs up, wrapping them greedily around Mike, holding his hardness to my softness. He circled my ass with his hands, gripping tightly. I rubbed my greedy crotch shamelessly over him as he continued to lave my nipple. I was practically riding him. I wanted him to release his hot cock from those shorts and shove aside my bikini bottoms and come inside me, ending this exquisite torture for both of us.

I was so turned on that even the coolness of the water could not dilute my need. I could feel the telltale fluttering begin deep inside me. I sobbed deep in my throat, as my body took over the rhythmic abrasion that would end the burning torture for me. I pulled his head free from my breast and I fed on his mouth as I came, trying to eke out every last shudder of ecstasy coursing through me. Did he know what he did to me?

Hailey Hollinger has it all—a great husband, a fantastic career in journalism, good friends...and one hot brother-in-law that won’t stay out of her fantasies.

When Hailey Hollinger was eighteen she thought her boyfriend, Brent, was the best-looking guy around. That was until he introduced her to his older brother, Mike. From that moment on she had the biggest crush on him and he became the star of all her teenage fantasies.

Hailey’s all grown up now and has been married to Brent for three years. They have great careers, a nice house—they enjoy life and each other. Everything is supposed to be perfect. Except for that pesky little infatuation with her husband’s brother has never completely gone away.

A crush, by nature and definition, is supposed to be short-lived and should diminish over time. But, unfortunately for Hailey, it hasn’t, and it is beginning to mess with what she thinks should be perfection. And if her life is so great, why does she then find herself groping her brother-in-law in the cab of his truck like some sex—starved teenager? And the biggest question yet—why is he groping her right back?

#MySexySaturday A Snip from a Recent Sub

This week My Sexy Saturday belongs to Jase and Lainey from a recent submission (fingers crossed for an acceptance). I think I'll even keep the working title to myself for now. But I hope you enjoy this little tease.

(unedited)
“Get in the backroom. Now!” he said, in a low authoritative voice. She hesitated but when he turned the Open sign to Closed and he locked the door, she started to back into the little room. In large strides he followed, stalking her, loosening his tie as he came at her.

She was almost to the wall of the backroom when his large body shadowed the door-frame.

Lainey watched him warily. He seemed almost angry. Intense.

“Any cameras back here?”

She shook her head.
Locking the back door he then moved like a caged cat to where she stood.
Without a word; he started dragging her skirt up. His jaw was tight, like he had his teeth clamped tightly together. His lips were drawn in a hard line. Once he had her skirt up around her waist he tucked his index fingers under the soft elastic in her panties and as he started to kneel down in front of her, he dragged the garment to her ankles on his descent.©Copyright H K Carlton 2013

Please Welcome Author L M Somerton

Please Welcome fellow Total-E-Bound author L M Somerton...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?
As a child, The Faraway Tree by Enid Blyton – probably my first foray into fantasy! As a teenager – anything and everything but I did love The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant by Stephen R Donaldson.
Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?
The Blue Ruin series by Katrina Strauss was my intro to MM BDSM and I still love the series. I also enjoyed anything by Sean Michael and Kim Dare (and I still look out for anything new from them).
Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)
I do – what a lovely fantasy – but it’s never happened to me sadly, I’m more of a slow burn girl!
Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?
My editor kindly introduced me to zombies (actions not attributed to a person) and Independent Body Parts. I’m still guilty of both, but getting better!
Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?
Not a complete block, but a bad review puts me off writing for a while. Web trolls were a new phenomenon to me when I was first published. Now I just ignore them.
If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
Wasdale in the English Lake District or maybe the North Cornwall coast. Can I have cottages in both places please?
If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?
Olly who features in all the Tales from the Edge. He’s full of life and mischief, I’m sure he’d be fun to be around.
What are you reading right now?
Spellwright by Blake Charlton.
When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?
I have both on my bookshelf, but I think I enjoy a good series more.
If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?
Strictly Come Dancing – love the sparkly dresses and the fit male dancers!
What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?
I’ve white water rafted the Zambezi – definitely the scariest thing I’ve ever done.
Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.
Just one? That’s too difficult…. Okay, Tyler Hoechlin who plays Derek in Teen Wolf. Scrummy.
What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?
I’ve not long joined Facebook and I’m finding it addictive, but I love the way readers comment on my Blog.
Favourite movie?
The Sting    Dream Vacation?
Costa Rica
Dream Car?
Aston Martin DB9
Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?
Vanilla (yes, really!)   What can readers look forward to next?
The next book in the Tales from The Edge series will be out in September, it’s called Dancing on the Edge.
Please tell us about your newest release.
Living on the Edge is number 2 in the series. The central characters are Heath (who was introduced in Reaching the Edge) and Aiden. There are plenty of steamy BDSM scenes, and plenty of adventure to. Don’t want to give too much away! It’s on general release from August 16th.

Book Two in the Tales from The Edge series.

Sometimes it takes willpower to resist temptation but courage to give in.

Aiden Keller is a brilliant and intriguing young man. When he’s convicted of hacking, his sentence takes him to The Edge, a high-end corporate training company with a mysterious sideline. There he is given into the custody of its owner, the enigmatic and demanding Heath Anders, and his business partner Joe Dexter.

From the moment Heath takes charge of Aiden he recognises the boy’s submissive nature, even though it is well hidden beneath a veneer of snarky attitude. But for twelve months, Aiden will be his responsibility and Heath cannot allow himself to get involved whilst the boy is obliged to obey him.

Aiden settles into his new life with the help of Olly, Joe’s pretty, submissive boyfriend, who is very perceptive when it comes to noticing the sparks of attraction flying between Aiden and Heath. Slowly and gently, he teaches
Aiden that submission is not a weakness and to accept his desire to be dominated.

Unable to resist, Heath starts to test Aiden’s willingness to be obedient, and against all the odds, love (and lust) start to bloom. Aiden, however, is not quite what he seems and his past is about to endanger all their lives.

Excerpt:
Aiden watched as he walked away. Broad shoulders topped a body wrapped in a dark fleece and black jeans. Every movement spoke of restrained strength. He moved confidently with a measured, unhurried pace. Aiden couldn’t stop his gaze from drifting down to a very nice arse—the guy was exceptionally well put together. It wasn’t difficult to imagine what it would be like to be held down by Heath, and somehow Aiden knew that held down was what he would be. Heath didn’t look the type for caring and sharing. He was so obviously dominant that it oozed from every pore.
“Probably straight.” Aiden hoped he had only thought the words rather than said them out loud. It was hardly appropriate to be thinking about the man in that way. Still, if he had to be stuck in some godforsaken place as slave labour for twelve months, at least there would be something nice to look at. Twelve months. Fuck. It felt like a life sentence, and Aiden wondered for the millionth time if what he had done was worth it.
Heath returned, levered his long legs beneath the table and placed a large cup of steaming coffee in front of him. Aiden’s hands shook just a little as he ripped open a sugar sachet and sprinkled a few grains into his drink. The fight with the miniature milk cartons proved a bit more challenging until a large hand closed around his own, took the annoying little pot away and opened it for him. The burning sensation would have been less if Aiden had plunged his hand into an open fire. Skin on skin contact with Heath short-circuited his brain and turned his cock into a very hard problem.
He shifted uncomfortably. “I don’t need your help.” He fought the second milk carton and sprayed white liquid across the table.
“Of course you don’t.” Heath wiped up the mess with a serviette. “Look at me, Aiden.”
Aiden suddenly found the tabletop very interesting indeed, but there was something about that voice that stripped away his resistance. Slowly, unwillingly, he raised his eyes.
“Better. I have one ground rule that we need to get out of the way. I know you don’t want to be here. Well, suck it up—I don’t care. You did something wrong and this is punishment, not a fucking day trip.”
Aiden blinked and clenched his fists beneath the table.
“From this point on, you do what I say, when I say it. Disobey me and you will be punished. Do as you’re told and we will get along just fine.”
“So, you say ‘Jump’ and I say ‘How high’? Is that how this works?” Months of frustration and worry brought sharpness to Aiden’s voice.
“How high, how far and what kind of fucking landing is required.”
Author bio:
L M Somerton lives in a small village in the English countryside, surrounded by rolling hills, cows and sheep. She started writing to fill time between jobs and is now firmly and unashamedly addicted.
She loves the English weather, especially the rain, and adores a thunderstorm. She loves good food, warm company and a crackling fire. She’s fascinated by the psychology of relationships, especially between men, and her stories contain some subtle (and not so subtle) leanings towards BDSM.

Please Welcome Author Mary Waibel

Please welcome my friend and fellow MuseItUp author,
Mary Waibel...

What was your favourite book as a child/teenager?
A Wrinkle in Time bu Madeline L'Engle
Who was the first author or what was the first book you read that introduced you to the genre that you most enjoy writing in?
Probably the above, although I'd have to say Nora Roberts and Lisa Shearin's writing have also influenced me.   Do you believe in love at first sight? And if so have you ever been so afflicted? Did you do anything about it? (Did you go for it?)
LOL! I guess you could say yes. My husband and I met on a blind date, so while it may not have been love at first site, clearly something was there!
Is there a particular word you overuse or writing technique that your editor(s) ride you about?
Yes. And as soon as I fix it, I pick a new one. THAT was the first one, then it became JUST. In my current WIP, my CP has pointed out that things are constantly “DANCING” on my MC. [Sigh.] One of these days I won't overuse words...NOT!
Have you ever suffered from writer’s block? (Or do you even believe in it?) If so, how were you able to overcome it?
Sadly, yes, and usually it's my own fault. For me, writer's block comes when I've made a character behave in a manner they would not. And until I find where I've gone wrong, they pout and throw temper tantrums, and my writing grinds to a standstill.
Showers, changing laundry, and driving seem to be the times I get the “Ah-hah!” breakthrough moment. Usually I just let the problem simmer in the back of my mind for a bit, then when I think about the scene as I'm doing one of those tasks, everything falls into place and I can move on.

If you could live anywhere in the world where would it be?
In all honesty, I love where I am, but if I had to pick, I'd say the Acadia area of Maine, or the Smokey Mountains of Tennessee. (Maine would be my first choice, as I do prefer a cooler climate!)
If you could bring one of your own characters to life, who would it be and why?
It would probably be Brody (or more properly, Prince Broderick). Of all that I've written, he's my favorite. He's funny, loyal, and has a heartbreaking story.
What are you reading right now?
I just finished TALL DARK AND KILTED by Lizzie Lamb. I'm going to start CITY OF ASHES (book 2 of The Mortal Instruments) by Cassandra Clare soon, and I need to read ENDER'S GAME, by Orson Scott Card before the end of this month for a BOTM read. (My taste in  books, like my taste in music, is wide and varied!)
When you read, do you prefer a stand-alone or a series?
I like both. I'm a sucker for a trilogy, and oddly enough, I usually like the second book the best. (I also have a habit of getting series out of order from the library, usually getting the second book first, so this might account for that anomaly.)   If you were to do a reality show, which one would it be?
Hmm. Not really big on reality shows, but I can sing and play instruments, so maybe 'America's Got Talent'.
What is the craziest, most exciting, or most dangerous thing you’ve ever done?
Well, on our honeymoon, we climbed Dunn's River Falls- a waterfall in Jamaica.

In college, I went up for a nighttime flight over Lake Erie, in a small prop plane. I got to hold the yoke and fly the plane for a minute.

I also got to have x-rays of my head taken while on our honeymoon. No, I didn't fall down the waterfall. Sadly, I fell in the shower and hit my head- they had to make sure I hadn't fractured my skull, as the bone behind my ear seemed depressed further than it should be. Note to self-shower tiles are slippery when wet!

Name a celebrity, athlete, musician, etc. you’d most like to get naughty with.
Oh! When I was a teen, I really liked Jim McMahon, from the Chicago Bears (probably because he was such a bad-boy!) My teenage self sould have picked him.
As an adult, I'm not sure who I'd pick, as  I enjoy 'getting naughty' with  my husband.

What is your favourite way to promote or connect with fans?
Twitter. I've been learning to connect with other authors and readers on twitter. It's a great way to chat with people and connect.
Favourite movie?
Robin Hood; The Three Musketeers; The Scarlet Pimpernel (the 1934 one with Leslie Howard)
Dream Vacation?
A trip to Bavaria. I really want to see Castle Neuschwanstein. Of course, a side trip to Ireland or Scotland would be nice, too.
Dream Car?
Porsche 911 Carrera, red with a whale tail.
Favourite Ice Cream Flavour?

Chocolate Peanut Butter CupWhat can readers look forward to next?
I'm hoping for at least 2 more books in the Princess of Valendria series (the 3rd one has been submitted- just waiting to hear back!) and then maybe some side adventures in that realm
I'm editing the first book in a paranormal romance with faeries and sorcerers, and just started the first book in a trilogy base on a D&D (Dungeons and Dragons) type world and quest. I'm also playing with some adult romance novels.  (As you can see, my muse doesn't like to sleep!)

Please tell us about your newest release.
Charmed Memories is the second book in the Princess of Valendria series. It follows Princess Kaylee's brother, Trevor, as he searches for his missing princess. He discovers Bri, the Woodland Guide and girl he loves, might be his missing princess, but she has no memories of her past. They set out to recover her memories, putting them both in grave danger, as Bri's lost memories hide more than her identity.

Charmed Memories:
A prince vows to prove the girl he loves is his missing princess by recovering her lost memories.

Prince Trevor has always placed duty to his kingdom above the desires of his own heart. But when his betrothed is lost at sea, he finds himself torn between honor and love.

After four years of searching for the missing princess, he begins to secretly long for Lady Bri, the Woodland Guide he works with each day. But the law says he must marry a princess, and Bri is barely a noble.

When Trevor learns that Bri shipwrecked at the same time and place as the princess, he begins to believe he has finally found his bride-to-be. But his happiness is short lived. Bri has no memory of her past, and the princess wasn't the only girl who disappeared from the ship.

Desperate to prove Bri is his princess, Trevor unwittingly places the two of them in grave danger. Buried in Bri's memories are deadly secrets someone wants kept from the light of day, and learning who she is may cost more than either is willing to pay.

Excerpt:“I can't believe my luck.” He brushed a finger over her cheek, barely touching her, yet her skin burned at the contact. “All this time searching for you, and you were right by my side.”
He set his palm on her cheek and leaned in, brushing his lips over hers.
She gasped and jerked away.
 “What are you doing?”
“I thought that was obvious.” He moved closer, his mouth grazing her cheek. “Here, let's try again.”
She knew she should turn away, but she had longed for this moment for so long. Her eyes drifted closed as his lips touched hers, soft as a butterfly on a flower. He slid his hands into her hair, tipping her head, deepening his kiss. She trembled at his touch. Frightened by these unfamiliar feelings, she pulled away, her breath coming in ragged gasps.
“This is wrong.”
“No.” He reached for her, but she stepped away, the incoming waves swirling around her ankles. “I've waited two years for this moment. There's nothing wrong with it.”
“Two years to kiss me or Elsbeth?”
“Both.”
She moved past him, sloshing through the water. When she felt she was a safe distance away, she turned back, hands on her hips. “I'm a shipwreck victim with no memory of my past.”
“You're Elsbeth. I know it. I can feel it.”
She threw her arms in the air. “You don't know that. How could you?”
“Bri—”
“No. You need to listen. For two years you've stolen bits of my heart. I never told you of my feelings, knowing we had no future together. But now you think I might be your princess and that makes it right for you to kiss me? How dare you insult me that way?”
“But, Bri, if you are Elsbeth, we have a future together.”
“That's one mighty big if, Your Highness.”
“I'm willing to stake my crown on it.”
“But what will you do if I'm not her? Do you choose another or choose me?”
“I'm bound by contract—”
“Which we both know became void when your princess disappeared. I'm not ignorant, Your Highness. I know how contracts work.” She waved a hand in the air. “We don't know who I am. The only one who does is a mermaid, and she can't speak to us."
“No, she isn't the only one. Your family will know you.”
The pounding of her heart was the only sound she could hear over the roaring surf. “You mean to take me to Delphine.”
“Of course. You need to go home. To see your family. To remember.” He moved closer with each word.
Bri's entire body trembled at the thought of crossing the sea. “No.” She shook her head so hard her vision blurred. “I can't do that. The mermaid said not to look for my family. It isn't safe.”
He pulled her close. “Surely the danger has passed after all these years. And I promise to keep you safe.”
She hesitated, then leaned her head on his shoulder, absorbing his strength. “If you have any feelings for me at all, you'll find another way.”
“Have feelings for you?” He tipped her head up until her gaze met his, then feathered his fingertips over her cheeks. “Of course I have feelings for you, which is why we have to go to Delphine.”
Turning away, she stared out at the waves, wishing there was another option. If only they didn't have to cross the sea, but she knew there was no other way. She had always wanted to learn who she was. Her family had only told her they found her on the beach, the lone survivor of a shipwreck. With no memories of her past, she had turned to building her future, but not a day went by that she didn't wonder where she came from and who she had been. Should she cast this chance aside, just because she was afraid to sail?
“Fine. I will do whatever I need to learn who I am. Now, we need to settle whatever this is between us.”
“What do you mean?”
“There is no us.” Tears trickled down her cheek. “There can't be. Not until we know who I am.”
“You're Elsbeth.”
“Stop! You keep saying that because that's who you want me to be. Yet earlier today, you turned away from kissing me.”
“Because it wasn't fair for me to kiss you, knowing nothing could come of it.”
She gaped at him, stunned at his words. “Not fair? You think it fair to have kept your feelings from me?”
“You're one to talk, Bri. You were going to run away because of your feelings for me.”
She laughed, mirthlessly. “Because I didn't think you felt anything more than friendship for me. I couldn't say anything to you. You're the crown prince. I'm barely a noble. What would you have had me say?”
He shoved a hand through his hair. “I don't know. I never said anything as it seemed wrong to do so. How could I tell you I loved you then marry another?”           She shook her head. “If you had asked me, I would have given you my love, knowing we had no future together. I find it very telling you chose not to act on your feelings until you wouldn't have to give up anything for me. I wonder, did you not think me worth the cost?”

If You Can't Stand The Heat #MySexySaturday

This week for My Sexy Saturday a sneak peek into If You Can't Stand The Heat an m/f contemporary erotic romance coming soon from Total-E-Bound. We've been busy doing first round edits on this m/s this week. It's shaping up nicely. I hope you enjoy this little taste of the oh-so-sexy and arrogant chef Sesto and erotic novelist Syn.

Set up:   An unlikely couple is brought together as celebrity judges on a new cooking show—Sesto Théodore, an American-Italian New York chef, and Syn Fully, a world-weary author of erotica. It’s instantly clear that they are complete opposites and their personalities clash, but physically, sparks fly and passion ignites.
 Somebody’s about to get burnt…

Excerpt:

Standing, he demanded, “May I speak to you out in the hall, please!”
“Of course,” Syn responded, haughtily, as though she hadn’t just been giving him the initial stages of a hand job under the judges table. He allowed her to take the lead although he was unexpectedly mesmerized by her long shapely legs, as she stalked across the space, confident and oh-so-fuckin’ sexy in the red stilettos. Sesto pulled level with her and couldn’t resist the urge to place his hand to the small of her back, left bare by the severe cut of her dress. If he wasn’t mistaken, she’d trembled at the contact. Or more likely it was his own hand that shook.
In the hall, she turned to face him and at the same moment he blurted, “What the fuck do you think…” The words died on his tongue, as she once more found his firm cock with her hand, her gaze settled on his mouth, as she breathed shallowly.
“Where’s your dressing room?” she asked, backing him up.
Grabbing her wrist, he dragged her into the room, before slamming the door behind them. He pulled her hand, which he still had possession of, above her head and forced it against the door. Expecting her to fight, he was not prepared for her brazen little smile as she raised her arm to join the other, as if she wanted him to pin her there and take control. With both hands stretched above her head, and Sesto still in an uncertain defensive type crouch, Syn arched towards him, bringing her beautiful tits, right in his face.
“What the fuck are you doing?” he asked again. “We don’t even know each other.”
“I know. Isn’t it wicked, how our bodies want to though. Don’t even bother to deny it, I can see that you do.”
Sesto groaned, shifting uncomfortably foot to foot.    Coming soon from Total-E-BoundPreorder: 20th September 2013Prerelease: 4th October 2013General Release: 1st November 2013
(this book will be released with warnings of mild bondage and/or non-consensual restraint and dubious consent)
So? What do you think? Have Syn and Sesto earned the title of this book?

I love the scorching cover the fabulous Emmy Ellis @TEB designed for this combustible pair. HOT!!

I hope you liked this little sampling. Don't forget to check out the fabulous MSS authors from the list below.
Have a Sexy Saturday!
