Nerds launch party

Last night another of my dreams came true - i was thrown my very own launch party for nerds. Abrams and amulet teamed up with nyc's amazing books of wonder to host the shindig and it was nothing short of awesome. There were nerds cupcakes! who gets that? anyway - so many friends and fans and fans who are friends showed up - as well as family who are incredibly supportive. All in all - it was a great night. Brooklyn book festival

Yesterday I sat on a panel with kate DiCamillo and Christopher Meyers in front of a big and very funny crowd. I did not know Chris's work but once I saw his book Wings I became an instant fan. He draws amazing stuff and is a truly gifted story teller. If you haven't seen any of his books you are truly missing out on a real talent. I've noticed that many authors give away copies of their books. I feel like a jerk because I've never done it. Don't know why..just never popped into my head. Well, I'd like to change that.
