Review: Ordinary (The Anything But Series)

Amazon link
Blurb:

There are three kinds of people in the world: those who are alive, those who are undead, and those who can see the undead.

Honor Rochester found out she's one of the three, and it's not the one she would prefer to be.

She can accept her fate and live as is decided for her. Or not live at all.

My Review:

I love discovering new authors and I'm glad to say that this one is a keeper!
I read this book without reading the synopsis because sometimes you just have to go for it. I didn't have the slightest clue as to the storyline but let me say, "Wow." I was pleasantly surprised.
From the hallways of a small town school, to the top secret facilities where strange things occur, Ordinary takes the reader on a journey unlike any other.
I immediately connected with Honor's need to protect and care for those around her and caught myself wishing her in and out of situations. The desire to learn Christian's fate kept the pages turning, while Ryker's confusion made me want to slap sense into him. Isaac's internal struggle instantly captivated me and made him one of my favorite characters.
I look forward to reading more Lindy Zart!

Early Cover Reveal

Expected eBook release Feb. 14th.

Claire's nemesis is back, and this time he's accompanied by a coven of necromancers who want nothing more than to control the gateway between the living world and the afterlife in order to keep spirits imprisoned in limbo for all of eternity.
Claire's visions lead her back to New Orleans in search of a male witch, while Chad stays behind and attends to renovations on the manor. She believes that the nameless man in her vision is the only person alive that can help her fight Lucian and his band of thugs, but is she about to get more than she bargained for?
Hunter has dreamt of Claire since he was a young boy and he's diligently strengthened his witchcraft in order to stand strong by her side when she comes for him. His entire life has been molded around the visions he's had of her and he's prepared to stop at nothing to claim the woman that has haunted his dreams since childhood.
With Hunter's help and incessant training, Claire discovers new abilities, but she also learns that a heart can't be divided. While she attempts to figure out a way to defeat Lucian once and for all, she struggles to face new truths. Are her feelings for Chad as strong as she believed, or will Hunter be the one to claim her Sacred Heart?

A must!!

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

This book is so beautifully written, that page one pulled me in and the love affair continued throughout.
I immediately fell in love with Ismae. Her past is broken, but her spirit is strong. She is by far, my favorite heroine to date!

Duval is my now my favorite hero and was perfectly described. He's strong, commanding, and fierce; yet so gentle and kind. The twists, turns, and struggles that the characters go through as they attempt to save the duchess' kingdom is heart wrenching and powerful. The author took me into the world of the past and I didn't want it to end. In fact, I think I screamed, "No," at the end. If you enjoy historical fiction with a paranormal flare, you will love this book!

Review of Croak by Gina Daminco

Croak by Gina Damico

I've read very few books with reapers in them, so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I immediately fell in love with the town of Croak. The unusual street and building names added a quirky element, and the witty retorts of the characters kept the pages turning.
Lex is a difficult teen who can't seem stay out of trouble. Her short fuse is easily ignited and she's prone to fighting and swearing. Having exhausted all efforts, her parents ship her off to spend the summer with her mysterious Uncle Mort. Lex immediately learns that she's not the toughest kid in town and adults aren't always passive.
Friendships bloom as she struggles to accept the duties of her new reaper job, and it doesn't take long before she realizes that there are far worse things in life than having a family that loves her.
It took me a while to warm up the author's style of writing, but once I did, I enjoyed it. The storyline is interesting, the humor is frequent, the world that the author created becomes believable, and the entire town of Croak makes me want to move there immediately.
