Sexy, touching read for under a quid, today only!

JM Stewart's hottest new release is under $1 today, and rocking the Amazon charts. Go grab it up, quick.

Cat Edwards has spent her life playing the wallflower in an effort to escape the repressive weight of her mother’s tarnished name. Dragged to a bar by her best friend in an effort to forget a broken heart, the shy bookworm is determined to be someone else for the night, but quickly gets in over her head. She discovers chivalry isn’t dead after all when a mysterious stranger comes to her rescue. He’s wearing black leather and a mischievous smile that promises to be exactly what she needs.
When his terminally ill father suffers a setback, Michael Brant returns to the town he swore ten years ago he’d never return to. He’s come home this time determined to make peace with the past, but being home brings up memories he doesn’t want to remember anymore. His first night in town, he’s captured by a damsel in distress. Cat’s beauty is made all the more alluring when he realizes she has no idea who he is. He can’t resist spending a single night in her arms. With her, he’s only a man, disconnected from his family’s name and the past that haunts him here.
As the town erupts with the news of his return, Michael’s dark past comes back to haunt him, putting Cat in danger. Someone is threatening her life and the life of her family. Desperate to keep history from repeating itself, Michael offers her his family’s name in order to keep her safe. When the lie spirals beyond their control, can they stop their hearts from becoming entangled as well?
Excerpt:
Whatever happened between them left him caught. Kaylee’s death cut a hole in him he hadn’t patched. Ten years of trying to forget the unbearable guilt of his role in her death. He’d set boundaries on all of his relationships, liked them simple and uncomplicated. What he felt for Cat went beyond complex. He liked the idea of wrapping his life around her. To see what she clearly felt for him shining back at him in the depths of her eyes made the idea all the more tempting. The question was, did he even have the right to happiness when his selfish needs had gotten not one but three people killed?
He left Cat’s mouth to trail kisses down her long neck and across her shoulder, relishing the sweet, velvety feel of her skin. She clung to his shoulders like she needed him every bit as much as he needed her. He shut his mind off. He didn’t want to think anymore. He wanted to drink her in, lose himself in her.
He drew his lips up the side of her neck and scraped his teeth over her earlobe. “You know, nobody can see us back here.”
She pulled back, her heavy-lidded eyes searching his with uncertainty, unease. “Here?”
He drew her bottom lip in between his and sucked gently, lifted his hands and cupped her breasts in his palms, let his thumbs drag across the hardening tips. Her eyes fluttered closed, a soft moan escaping her as she dropped her head back.
“I need you.” He whispered against her skin as he bent his head to taste the exposed column of her throat. “Now.”
It was all the explanation he could muster. All he knew was he wanted her. Needed her. Needed to feel her body joined with his, to feel the intense connection between them. He wanted to lay claim to her body, her heart, her soul, and he wanted it with a fierceness that shook him. He needed to be a part of her, to take a part of her with him when he left.

Surrender to Me & #giveaway

As well as Ella being a fellow Beachwalk Babe, she is also one of my favourite authors. I’m not the biggest fan of BDSM, but Ella’s stories are deeply emotive, and very romance focused. Her characters literally leap out of the page, and did I mention they're hot ;o)?
We first meet the Dom Martin in Make Me Stay, which I adored and fell for him a little. I was thrilled to get my hands on an advanced copy and devoured Surrender to Me in a couple of hours.
I’ll hand you over to Ella. Make sure to enter the Rafflecopter giveaway, there’s a $10 gift card up for grabs.
I’m pleased to announce the release of Surrender to Me, the sequel to Make Me Stay.

What happens when a Dominant falls for his not-so-submissive attorney?
Martin Abrams, owner of Master M's BDSM club, has become unfulfilled with his lifestyle. Ever since his sub, Gracie, left to marry her true love, Martin has lost his way. Living the life of the head Dominant in his circle isn't as appealing as it once was. Something seems to be missing.
Sassy lawyer Arianna Covington relocates to New York City after a humiliating divorce. She's looking for a fresh start when she agrees to become Martin's exclusive attorney. She's intrigued by his domineering personality and wants to know why women kneel at his feet.
Their attraction is undeniable despite Ari's initial beliefs that she will never submit to Martin's desires. But Martin is up for the challenge. Arianna is more than he ever imagined in a woman. He vows to claim her heart, with or without the games. Who will surrender first?
Featuring Cade and Gracie from Make Me Stay.Beachwalk Press Buy Link
Check out the hot and sexy trailer for a peek into the plot.

Excerpt“All the subs act that way around you?” Arianna asked.“It’s the only way they know. It’s what’s expected of them.”“I don’t understand how any woman would bow down like that. It’s not normal.”“Maybe not for you.” Martin understood Arianna’s position. Most who didn’t participate in a Dominant and submissive relationship didn’t get it.“It’s degrading. She can’t use the phone. She’s a grown woman.”“Arianna, this is a lifestyle you can’t possibly comprehend because you know nothing about it. A submissive gets just as much as he or she gives. The arrangement they enter into with a Dom is consensual. Roxy is not forced into being here. Her Dom respects and cares for her. She has a very good life.”“He punishes her.”“When she disobeys. It’s in her contract.”“A contract that can’t possibly be enforced in court.”“Spoken like a true lawyer.” He finished his scotch. “The contract is to protect them both. It lists what is expected of a sub and what the Dominant’s responsibilities are. They outline hard and soft limits. We create a safe, sane, and consensual environment, and that contract maintains trust between the two parties. As long as it is upheld between the parties involved that’s all that matters.”“To each his own, I suppose.” She shrugged. “I’m your real estate attorney. What you do here is none of my business.”Then why are you here, kitten?“I’m very open, Arianna. If you have questions, I’ll be happy to answer them. People should be educated in my lifestyle. It isn’t as uncommon or bizarre as you may think.” He reached for her hand. “I hope you won’t judge me without getting to know me.”“Um, no.” She looked down at their joined hands. He liked the way her cheeks turned colors when he flustered her. “Of course not. This whole environment is different. It’s going to take some getting used to.”“I understand.” He ran his thumb over the soft skin of her hand. “If you’d prefer not to meet here anymore—”“It’s not a problem.”“Very well.” He smiled because as he suspected she wanted to be there. “Will you join me for dinner?”Martin couldn’t remember the last time he’d asked a woman to have dinner with him. He usually just summoned a sub when he was in the mood for company. Gracie was the last woman he’d spent any time with at all. Perhaps it was time to explore his options. Obviously, Arianna would be different than the women he dealt with, but he liked the change. When Gracie left him for Cade everything changed. He hadn’t been interested in another sub. As a matter of fact, he hadn’t been interested in another woman until now.“I’d love to join you for dinner, Mr. Abrams.”“I’d like you to call me Martin.” Allowing people to use his name wasn’t a privilege he granted often, but everything was different with her. He stood from the bar and picked up her briefcase. “I hope you like Italian. I ordered enough for six people. I wasn’t sure what you would want.”“Italian is fine.” She took his extended hand and walked to the back of the club with him. “Why didn’t you just wait and ask what I would want?”“I’m not used to asking.” He motioned for her to take a seat in the huge u-shaped booth that overlooked the Manhattan skyline.“Oh, Martin.” She giggled. He liked the way his name tumbled off her lips. “You have a lot to learn about non-submissive women.”

Meet the stars...

As you know, it’s publication day for us. Thanks for stopping by. Now I’m going to tell you a little about Ric and Alexa. Be sure to comment with your email addy for a chance to win one of the two $10 gift cards Rae Rivers and I are giving away.

Ric and Alexa come together by chance. Okay, Alexa is on a wild girlie holiday and Sinfully Summer begins with her doing a crazy dare. She ends up in his penthouse in her underwear. Ric uses her trespassing to his advantage.

Get your mind out of the gutter, he's not that bad! :o) He gets her to agree to a ‘date’ which involves networking for a charity he runs to help homeless children.
Awww
But they drive each other crazy: Ric because he can’t control the wild heiress and Alexa because she thinks Ric has a stick up his ass.
Ouch
However, he gets his way and Blackmails her into working as his events organiser. Really, all Alexa wants to do is enjoy her holiday.

But Ric isn’t having any of that. Will Alexa bend to his demands, or will she accomplish the impossible and get Ric to lighten up? You’ll have to read it to find out ;o)
Sun, Sea and Scandal
Notorious heiress Alexa Green has certainly been enjoying her most recent girls-holiday in Marbella. Just as we thought, she’s been knocking back the cocktails and showing off her fabulous bikini body on the beach… but rumour has it she’s also been spotted sneaking out of Enrique Castillo’s penthouse in the early hours of this morning – in nothing but her underwear! Our question is, doesn’t this fiercely private billionaire know what he’s letting himself in for?
He’s got the millions… and she knows how to spend them! So lie back on your sun lounger and get comfortable, because this summer fling is going to be a sizzler!
You can grab Sinfully Summer here: Amazon US / Amazon UK / Google Play / Barnes & Noble
Competition time!
Leave a comment with your email address. And make sure to swing by Harper Impulse’s Blog around 2pm (UK time) for another entry into the draw. Each comment gets you an extra entry and remember, the competition is open until midnight on Wednesday. xoxo

Let's get this party started, with a #giveaway

It’s publication day! Rae Rivers and I are celebrating the release of our books, Sinfully Summer (by mwah) and The Keepers: Archer (by the lovely Rae). We’ve got a few fun posts planned throughout the day, and we're giving away a $10 Amazon gift card each! More details on how to win at the end of the post.
First, I have a fabulous excerpt from Rae’s book to share with you…

“I’ll come with you, Sienna.”She nodded, never having doubted otherwise, and stopped at the doorway to frown at the shattered lamp on the floor.  When had that happened? Her breath caught as memories of Archer’s kiss clouded her mind, but she was quick to push them away.  She looked back at Archer and blushed when she saw his lips curl into a slight grin.  He would be able to sense her quick flush of excitement sparked by the memory of their kiss and judging by his grin, he found brief amusement in her reaction to the memory.  “Stop it,” she said, jabbing a finger in Archer’s direction.“Stop what?”“I want my damn necklace.”“But this is way more fun.”“For you maybe.  I’m going to bed.”“You haven’t eaten yet.”“I’m not hungry.”“Lucky you.”  A sexy gleam entered his eyes and a silly grin played on his lips.  “Because unlike you, I am hungry, Sienna, but it’s not food I’m after.”Sienna gaped at him for a second, spun around, and fled to her room.
You can pick up The Keepers: Archer right now, here: Amazon UK / Amazon US / Barnes & Noble / Google Play
And next, here’s an excerpt from Sinfully Summer to get you in the mood for a… erm… I’ll let you decide that!

‘Put down the plate.’Alexa obeyed, unable to speak or protest. Her brain seemed to have forgotten how to form words.‘Turn around.’She did as she was asked and closed her eyes so she didn’t do something stupid, like lean forward and lick his tattoo, or maybe suck one of those brown nipples into her mouth. Blood pulsed between her thighs and she squeezed them together. His hand tilted her chin and she didn’t know who was shaking, but someone definitely was.‘Open your eyes.’She did and immediately wished she hadn’t. His chocolate eyes were so dark they looked almost black, smooth jaw stiff with tension and his lips looked full and firm—as firm as they had the last time they’d stood in the kitchen and he’d taken her ability to stand away just from pressing his mouth to hers.‘I think it’s time we stopped lying to ourselves.’Her lips parted as she gasped. His thumb skimmed her lower lip. ‘What do you mean?’ Her chest rose and fell with her need, her desire, but fear kept her sane. Fear was good.‘I want you, and you want me.’
You can grab Sinfully Summer here: Amazon US / Amazon UK / Google Play / Barnes & Noble
Competition time!
The aim of the game is the more posts you comment on throughout the day, the more entries you have into the draw. I’ll be posting a few more times today, and so will Rae. All you have to do is visit both our sites and Harper Impulse when prompted, and leave a comment.
The competition will be open until Wednesday at midnight, in case you don’t have time to visit all the posts today. On Thursday Rae and I will tally up the entries and pick the winners’ names out of a hat (or bowl, or milk jug if that takes our fancy!).
Make sure to visit Rae here in two hours for her first post, and be in with another chance of winning.

xoxo

Last chance to win!

My last post for the day, and another chance to win one of the two $10 gift cards Rae Rivers and I are giving away. Here’s one more cheeky excerpt from Sinfully Summer.
Ric has Alexa on his kitchen counter, naked from the waist down. This one comes with a content warning: 18+ only.
He nibbled and kissed his way from her knee to her inner thigh and her breath rushed out when he closed in on her centre. She parted her legs wider, not caring anymore if he pulled away, she was pretty sure she’d drag him back by the hair. But he didn’t kiss her where she needed him to. Instead, he moved to her other knee and began the same circuit. She huffed out a protest and he laughed against her thigh.
‘We have all night. There’s no rush.’
‘I’m going to explode on my own if you don’t hurry.’ She bit her lip, cursing her wayward tongue.
‘I’d like to see that.’ His dark eyes shone with humour, but his tight jaw made her think he was as ready to burst as she was. ‘But not tonight.’
His hands slid under her bottom and he squeezed, pulled her toward the edge and she yelped. She grabbed hold of the handles on the cupboards behind her and held on tight. He leaned in and her breath whooshed out in a rush. Still, he didn’t touch, only inhaled, shuddered and planted a soft kiss below her belly button.
Alexa hadn’t been lying about exploding; her whole body felt like one breath in the right place would do it. But he just licked his way down, then kissed the flesh on her tingling thighs.
Damn him. ‘Are you waiting for an invitation?’

Grading on Curves, by Tara Mills

Congratulations to Tara Mills for another fabulous release. Can’t wait to get stuck in.

One-on-one instruction never felt so right—or so wrong.
There’s nothing unusual about Mia Page’s attraction to the young science teacher at the middle school. After all, she’s not the only one who finds him enticing. But when he pulls her son aside to ask for her phone number, she knows she’s in serious trouble. Since her divorce four years earlier, she’s been out of circulation, choosing to focus on parenting instead, and she’s not entirely sure she can handle an entanglement with the sexy Mr. Walden.
There are also other reasons why getting involved with Curt would be a bad idea. He’s two years shy of thirty, and she’s on the downside of that unmentionable number. He’s adamant about never having kids, and she has a son. Even the guy’s romantic gifts are suspect. Energy saving light bulbs? He has to be kidding.
On the other hand, he’s fun, sweet, and smart. He stimulates her intellectually, emotionally, and Lord help her, physically, opening her eyes to life outside her comfortable world. Yet their differences quietly gnaw at Mia even while she succumbs to their undeniable chemistry.
As their romance deepens, so do Mia’s fears that Curt will eventually hurt her. On edge, all it takes is an innocent comment to provoke her into drawing first blood. Mia recklessly wounds Curt, learning only too late that this blade cuts both ways. Frantic to make amends, she fears it might be too late to admit the feelings she’s tried so hard to suppress.

Grading on Curves is on sale now at; Beachwalk Press, Amazon, and Barnes & Noble
BIO: Tara MillsI write stories I like to read — contemporary romances with identifiable characters and themes. Life is hard, love makes it bearable.  If you like stories with heart, heat, and humor, I have a title for you.I’m a pampered wife, lucky mom to three amazing sons and one wonderful daughter-in-law, and I just became a very young grandma. I should probably underline the word very. Oh heck, why not the word young too?  Nah, you get the picture. I’m also the daily monitor of one naughty dog with attitude.

Excerpt from Grading on Curves :
Casey was almost to the Explorer, but Mia barely noticed. Her entire focus was centered on the sexy teacher instead. She could feel the beads of perspiration popping out all over her at the way his lightweight shirt caught the breeze, billowing out of the back of his sexy-assed pants. Was that linen? It couldn’t be. It draped like rayon but without the wrinkles. Whatever it was, he wasn’t exactly dressed to roam school hallways or stand with his back to a class while he wrote on a chalkboard. She envied and pitied the poor adolescent girls who had to look at that supremely scrumptious derriere every day then suffer each night in a private torture all their own.No, this guy belonged on a beach, seated at an umbrella shaded table with his long masculine fingers curled around a glass of wine.Okay, putting Curt on a beach was probably a mistake. In a flash she had him bounding out of the surf in low slung swim trunks as water ran down his sun-kissed body. She moaned softly at the damp line of glittering hair bisecting his chest. It tapered away across his solid abs then picked up again at his navel as a solid arrow plunging inside his waistband. Mia’s fingers twitched as she did a virtual walkthrough, quite willing to follow that trail wherever it led. Exploration was highly underrated these days.“Mom! Are you coming?”Casey’s call jolted her back to reality. Well, one thing she could say for certain, this fantasy was galaxies better than the usual gloom and doom.Hurrying to the SUV, Mia climbed in and drew her seatbelt across her lap. “Did I hear Mr. Walden say he teaches science?” Silence followed her question. Looking up, she caught Casey giving her a strange look. “What?”“Don’t even think about asking me to pass him a note at school,” he said flatly.Mia broke into a startled laugh. “Are you kidding?”
The boy shook his head slowly. “I know that look, Mom. I’ve seen it a hundred times this year, and I’m not doing it. Don’t even ask.”

Content Warning: explicit sex, emotional torment, graphic violence

Excerpt:
Thick, rolling clouds kept the air moist as Liam paced the confines of his home. Ice covered the stone walls, snow swirled and danced along the floor of the cave. He shivered, the rattle of scales music to his ears. After two hundred years, he was finally able to break out of the horrid humanoid form.
Padding to the mouth of his cave, he stared out. White clouds soared around the mountain's peak. Snow danced along the ledge, piling where it was easiest. The air was cold, crisp, sweet, much as it had been when he'd grown up in the Highlands.
He tapped his claws against the stone, his eyes searching through the mist, for what he did not know. The need to search, to find an answer to the elusive want had plagued him for days, disturbing his hunting, his rest. Nights were filled with the image of a female, her hair flowing over her shoulders, wide, trust filled eyes staring at him. Her hands outstretched, reaching toward him. The visage tickled at his memory of another woman, one dressed as a slave, following the footsteps of a vampire…one he'd feared.
Curling his tail around himself, he settled on his haunches, shoulders hunched against the chill as he stared out over the human realm. Faint, his hunger stirred. Soon he'd need to hunt, both for food and for the one who had done him ill. The sharp point of his tail beat a slow, steady rhythm against the floor as he tilted his head, listening to the howling winds, the bitter screams of the winter weather, and the elusive sound of a beating heart.
* * * *
"Do not dawdle, Una, our time grows short." Harsh, bitter, Anagor's voice scraped along her nerves as she hurried through the stone corridor. Stale air and dust sat in her throat, gagging her as she scurried among the debris. The sound of claws on stone sent shivers up her spine as some unseen vermin darted from her path. The heavy cloak she wore hid the shimmering fabric of her priestess robes but did little to battle the cold soaking through to her flesh.
"'Tis cold, this place we are being sent." Una shivered and ducked beneath a heavy beam. Her hand pressed against the icy stone as she struggled to maintain her balance on the uneven ground.
"You may think so."
Anagor's sneer pricked at the ready temper she'd struggled to control. Biting her lip, she kept the sharp retort to herself. She glanced up, her gaze falling on the thick wooden door Anagor stood before. He grinned as he gripped the handle and pulled. Dust and pebbles rained down as it creaked and groaned in protest before scraping along the ground to open. Shock ripped through Una as the pale streak of light spread along the frozen ground, wrapping around her with its icy chill.
Snow slapped at the ground, swirling in a maelstrom of white. It blew through the portal into the opening, piling around her sandal clad feet. Teeth chattering, she rubbed at her arms as Anagor stepped back, reaching for her cloak, all but shoving her into the freezing air.
"Duty does not wait for one who whines," he snapped, his grip tightening around her arm.
Bitter winds lashed at her dress, whipping the fabric around her legs. Her cheeks and toes burned, and fog formed in front of her with every breath. Her skin tightened, prickles of heat dancing along the surface. Wrapping her arms around herself, she fought to ward off the chill even as she felt it sinking deeper into her skin.
"My lord, I would hurry, but this wind…it is so cold, I fear I'll freeze."
"Nonsense. Amuliana would not send you forth to freeze. You have served her well."
Una stumbled, her hand catching at Anagor. Pain ripped through her, shredding her heart as she wavered, yet it wasn't her pain. Rather, it was his. His pale eyes stared at her, hate stirring in them, along with something else. Something terrifying.
Backing away from him, Una trembled. Her fingers clutched at her clothes, wrapping them tighter around her. Each step back she took, he advanced two, his eyes fastened on her throat. He grinned, a merciless expression which revealed blackened nubs for teeth and puss filled gums.
"What is this?" Una swallowed, the rising fear pushing any thought but escape from her mind.
"My penance has waited too long, Una. I will have what I seek this night." Anagor licked his lips, his eyes darkening with hunger.

Interview with Tea Cooper

I’ve nabbed the lovely Téa Cooper for an interview today to talk about her new book, A Winning Streak, and those gorgeous Aussie men.
Let’s talk yummy Australian men. I can think of my favourite, Mr Jackman. Who’s your most lusted after pin-up?
Jackman probably takes the cake but I'm quite partial to the relaxed Simon Baker and I love Richard Roxburgh - but he's not really pin up material just such a bad boy with a great twinkle in his eye! Then there's the sport aspect - everyone thinks Australian women like sport…they like the players.

What genre do you prefer reading/writing, historical or contemporary?
That's a really difficult question…if I'm writing contemporary I read contemporary - can't have characters saying, "Damn your eyes" and "Dashed nuisance" in todays world! When I'm writing historicals I read historicals. A Winning Streak is my first Ancient Greek historical, and my first novella, so I read a fair few of Ancient Greek legends and myths and had to brush up on my gods and goddesses. I've spent quite a lot of time in Greece so the setting was easy!
I'm jealous! Would love to visit Greece. Can you tell us a little about your current release?
Oh I started the answer to this a bit early!! I wrote A Winning Streak in answer to a submission call for Ancient Greek or Ancient Roman novellas but it got put in the too hard basket and I was side tracked by my Australian historicals and contemporaries. One day I was suffering for a serious attack of writer's block and I dragged it out and rediscovered it. I did a bit of a rewrite and submitted it to Breathless Press' Timeless line and it was picked up straight away. It has actually been my easiest book to date - very few edits, a great cover and an early release date. It is my spin on one of my favourite Greek myths - the story of the virgin huntress Atalantê. I love strong heroines who can stick up for themselves and she certainly was able to do that! And then of course there are the Ancient Olympians and Spartans that challenge her - never mind the Melanion and his minuscule leather running gear!

Sounds fab! Favourite author & book?
Another difficult question - what are you doing to me? Favourite all time, take to a desert island, would have to be Lord of The Rings - J R Tolkien. You can read it on so many different levels and I usually read it at least once a year. I have some fantastic reference books that go with it - The Tolkien Companion by J.E.A. Taylor which explains the languages and references in the book and a wonderful book called A Tolkien Bestiary which is an explanation of all the imaginary beasts and monsters and deities and fauna in The Lord of the Rings. Do you think I should be writing fantasy?
Please do, I love The Lord of the Rings.
Who is your favourite band/musician?
It's a mood thing - Leonard Cohen and Sharon Robinson, Rebecca Ferguson and always The Rolling Stones and Eric Clapton!
Love the last two!
If you could be anyone for a day, who would you be and why?
I'm quite happy being me at the moment! I'm doing what I have always wanted to do, living in a place I love with great friends and family nearby.
If someone was willing to pay for you to go anywhere you wanted tomorrow, where would you choose?
From Sydney to Antartica on a Tall Ship without a doubt. My current WIP is set aboard aschooner between Tasmania and Sydney so it would be part research and I have always wanted to go to Antartica. It's the only continent I haven't visited.
Sounds fab! Thanks for popping over and letting me pick your brains. Now let’s find out a little about your book.

Will the path of true love incur the wrath of the virgin Goddess Artemis?

Abandoned at birth, Atalante, protege of the goddess Artemis, is forced into an untenable position by her estranged father, the King of Arcadia—renege on her vow of virginity or condemn her suitors to asacrificial death. The aristocratic courtier, Melanion, cannot believe anyone would be foolish enough to put their life on the line for the dirty little predator whose reputation for speed and cruelty is legendary. That is until he falls under Atalante's spell.
Consumed by desire and jealousy, Melanion is determined to win Atalante's hand or die trying. He calls upon Aphrodite to assist him, little realizing that her noisome brat, Eros, has the pair of them in his sights and is determined to inject a little spice into their lives. Spice that will devastate the path of true love and incur the wrath of the virgin Goddess Artemis..Copyright 2013, Téa CooperAll rights reserved, Breathless Press.
Excerpt:The sixth day of ThargelionMount Parthenius, Arcadia
Purple thunderclouds swirled, and lightning slashed the sky. Artemis the Huntress, goddess of the forests and the hills, stood astride the mountaintop, staring in fascination at the frail human figure edging its way to the cave. The figure gazed around furtively, then placed a tightly wrapped bundle beneath the shelter of the rocky overhang before stepping stealthily away through the glade of moon-white cyclamen flowers.A flash of lightning illuminated the interior of a cave. Bounding effortlessly down the mountain, Artemis raged at the folly of mankind."Great Zeus above!"Impossibly huge cerulean eyes stared up at her—the epitome of perfection. Artemis reached down and picked up the swaddled bundle. The scent of the fresh, sweet skin and the flawless rosebud mouth tugged at her heart as she cradled the tiny body close to her breast and raised her fist to the heavens. "This I vow, my little one, you shall become fleet of foot, a huntress, second to none and guided by my ever-watchful eye."Pulling back the tightly wrapped swaddling, she gazed in awe as the plump, perfectly formed limbs pounded the air. "I name you Atalantê, my princess, for we are as one. In perfect harmony you will grow in my image, your maiden divinity never to be conquered by Eros."Artemis listened as in the valley below, the Arcadian people held their collective breath. She stilled the lightning and dismissed the thunderclouds. Finally, when the pale sun rose, the frustrated cries of Lord Iasius filled the palace. "Gods! Take back your girl. Give me a boy to inherit my kingdom!"The acts of men are rarely unheeded by the gods, and Artemis vowed compassion for her little foundling, seeing to her warmth and nourishment until the girl grew tall and nimble, slim of hip—a virgin huntress, in her own image.

#Free ... Pagan Writers Presents Yule

Pagan Writers Presents Yule
FREE on Amazon June 10th– 14th

Come out of the snow and pull up a chair by the roaring fire! The Wheel has turned once more as we look to the morning sky, eyes waiting to welcome the reborn sun.
Yule, also known as the Winter Solstice, was an indication to our early ancestors that the long winter was half over and that they needed to start looking toward the spring planting season. Modern-day celebrants of this sacred Sabbat exchange gifts, feast, and spend time with friends and family.
Pagan Writers Presents Yule is a collection of articles, poetry, songs, and short stories. Thirty-four Pagan writers have come together to express how we celebrate the holiday, to share their thoughts and feelings, and to entertain with stories that take place on or around the Winter Solstice.
Throw off your coat, grab a mug of mulled wine, and join us at the hearth as we tell you about the Sabbat known as Yule.
Pagan Writers Presents Yule is the second anthology in the Pagan Writers Press Sabbat collection.
All proceeds from the sale of this anthology further the mission of the Pagan Writers Community, an organization that seeks to educate, inspire, and promote artists, authors, bloggers, musicians, poets, and writers who follow alternative-faith spiritual and religious paths.
