5 Weeks to My First Half Marathon

On September 13th I will run my first ever half marathon! I ran all throughout high school, bu haven’t run much after graduating college. In fact, the farthest I’ve managed to run is 3 miles. Now my first half marathon is only 5 weeks away…I have a LOT to do.
I’ll keep you updated on my training and post a 5-week half marathon training schedule once I finish!

Palm Beach, I’m On My Way!
Brianna Justice would be so proud! As the alter-ego to my vivacious lead character in President of the Whole Fifth Grade, I am proud to announce that I have been invited to attend the April Is For Authors conference in Palm Beach County beginning Friday, April 26.
If you are a media specialist, Principal or reading coach in the Palm Beach County Florida area and you’re interested in having an author attend, I just might be the woman for the job.
Since President of the Whole Fifth Grade was selected to the 2012-2013 SSYRA list, I have done numerous school visits. However, prior to becoming an author, I spent almost 20 years in the South Florida area as a newspaper columnist for the Sun-Sentinel. One of the best parts of my job was being able to visit schools and inspire future writers and thinkers.
My presentations are lively and engaging. I use my book and works-in-progress to elicit advice and writing strategy from the children, all the while getting them comfortable with the type of mental planning and practical too gathering necessary for a successful writing project.

Brianna Justice heads to Osceola County Florida!

Brianna Justice and her friends have been pretty busy. Since President of the Whole Fifth Grade was named a Sunshine State Young Reader Award winner for 2012013, Brianna and the gang have been very busy. Author Sherri Winston, who happens to know Brianna very well, will head to Osceola County in Florida to visit several schools. The excitement is very HIGH. This is Big news!
Who knows, maybe after Ms. Winston talks to the students about Brianna, Sara, Lauren, Becks and Weasel, not to mention Mrs. Nutmeg and the lovely Miss Delicious, maybe some kid right there in Florida will decide, “Hey, I’m a good person. I want to be rich and famous. Hmm . . .maybe I can start my own business, too! I want to be a leader just like Brianna Justice!”
