A Deleted Scene from Sworn To Sovereignty
Recently on Twitter I mentioned a deleted scene from Sworn To Sovereignty, in which loyalties are questioned and motives are undermined. The scene was cut from the book for the sake of keeping the narrative moving, but its an interesting piece that I still like. This week I spoke with the Chicago Book Examiner (again) about my work as an author and how I write my books, so this seemed appropriate. The second Examiner interview will be live in the coming few weeks but I can tell you that they gave me a pretty exciting official review for Sworn To Raise now:
Chicago Books Examiner praises Sworn To Raise “First of series raises expectations for young adult genre”
Here you go! Enjoy. I’ll be posting buy links with the reveal of Chapters 1 and 2 soon.

How does this help us? This constant bickering? This distrust. Anytime we encounter a new foe it rears its ugly head like a hydra who can’t be destroyed? Ciardis mused to herself wearily.
But Sebastian answered her anyway. By weeding out friend or foe. We need to make our alliance stronger. We need to know where we stand and who we can trust.
“We can trust Terris.”
“Because she’s your friend?” He said in a soft voice.
Ciardis felt ire and then anger build in her gaze. She didn’t bother softening that look however, she didn’t care who saw.
“She saved my life numerous times, all of our lives not even a week ago.”
Sebastian nodded and said, “Now we shall see if she’s willing to do more than risk her life and our own. Let’s see if she’s willing to risk her soul to protect her empire.”
Ciardis raised an eyebrow. “You mean to protect you.”
“The motives are one and the same,” he replied.
Ciardis took an uncomfortable step back and held up a forestalling hand. “No Sebastian, they’re not. Not this time. Not in this place.”
Sebastian cocked a quizzical head and looked at her. “Do you really believe that?”
Ciardis looked at him straight in the face and said, “I trust my friends. I trust Terris. She is loyal. She is kind. She, above all, is not someone whose motives I want to question. I might as well as question my own heart if I was to question hers.”

The Tweets Keep Coming – @tedunwrites + Hardcovers
If you haven’t checked out my Twitter posts yet, you should follow along! I’ve been sharing some of the swag that’s on order for librarians for the Summer Reading giveaway! I also love to share tidbits from my writing, the latest book of course being Sworn To Sovereignty: Courtlight #8.
In other news, we’re starting to see Sworn To Raise hardcovers pop-up in libraries nationwide (here we are in Alabama, Colorado, & Virginia) so I figured its time I do an ‘official’ reveal!
Beautiful, glossy, lovely pictures at the base. But first…some news. ^.^
This spring I announced a new cover for Sworn To Raise when we revealed the beautiful new trailer located here:
That trailer has since gotten 15,000+ views and has been a fan favorite. I couldn’t be more pleased!
“The trailer gave me goosebumps!! even though I have now read all 7 of the current books I cannot wait to own a physical copy!! #ShatterAnEmpire!”
So I’m here to officially announce a new special edition hardcover for the Courtlight series!!
As you may or may not have realized, I’m not the type of author to constantly change their covers. Once I make them they’re set and I can move on to things like formatting the paperback for publication, putting together swag pieces for the books, and distributing the title to as many venues as possible. The cover becomes the representation of the series wherever its seen and I’d say the original cover for Sworn To Raise has done a pretty good job of that so far.
But I was so excited that SWORN TO RAISE has been picked up in an exclusive distribution deal with Ingram, that I had to have a new cover designed to celebrate this release into hardcover! I hope you love the new cover design as much as I do and that you’ll enjoy reading Ciardis’s story in print. To celebrate the new hardcovers and (coming) bookstore launches, I’ll be doing some special swag giveaways later this summer.

State of the Algardis Universe — 2015 In Review
Hey Readers,
With the successful release of Sworn to Vengeance and with Sworn to Sovereignty well underway, we (Rachel and I) wanted to take some time to let you know what we have been up to for the past year and what we are looking forward to in the year to come!
2015 was a huge year for us as far as opportunities to both expand readership and our brand. Six titles were released and published in four separate languages (two in Spanish, one in Portuguese, two in French and one in German). The Spanish release of Sworn to Raise hit the Amazon Espana Top 100 Bestsellers list, Sworn To Raise in French got amazing accolades, and Sworn to Raise in German was selected as a Kindle Favoriten title. So to all of our readers involved with helping Courtlight make those charts: Gracias! Vielen Dank! Merci!
The Courtlight series signed distribution deals with OverDrive, 3M Cloud Library, Ingram and EBSCO eBooks. These are major eBook retailers that most self-publishers don’t have access to but thanks to the awesome fan base we were able to take advantage of these opportunities! As a result of the distribution deal, the Courtlight series is now housed in library catalogs for over 576 libraries in 25 US states as well as 4 foreign countries for print and eBooks. So far I’m happy to list Australia, New Zealand, France, and Great Britain with hope for more on the horizon. Last year also saw gain hardcover distribution as well with Ingram Publishers Services, which I can make some awesome announcements about soon. In addition to this some negotiations with agencies and publishers were/are on the tbale (we’re still looking for the magic ring

Sworn To Vengeance: Courtlight #7 Release Day *Yes, its LIVE*
Sworn To Vengeance: Courtlight #7 is now on sale at all venues (iBooks still pending) for $3.99.
This sale will last until the start of 02/24 when it goes up to $4.99.
Check out what one of the ARC Readers had to say about Book 7:
Thank you so much for an amazing book. I can’t tell you how excited I was last Monday when I saw your post about needing beta readers and ARC readers (New readers can join The Fantasy Guild to become a beta/ARC reader here) and how much more excited I was when I received Rachel’s e-mail on Thursday. I literally couldn’t put the book down. Thank you for sharing your gift with us!
You write in such a way that the reader is able to really connect with Ciardis, and the other characters as well…but especially with Ciardis. There were so many moments when my heart truly ached for her , but watching the struggles she had once she became bonded to both Sebastian and Thanar brought on the tears. I was intrigued by the way that you chose to bring the three of them together into a bond, although that makes perfect and total sense. I’m really interested in seeing how that is going to play out…!
Ciardis Weathervane is nothing if not resourceful but she and her friends are running out of time and options. They stand at the westernmost edge of the Algardis Empire with a mission from their emperor – bring home the collar that will stop a god in its tracks or die trying.
But nothing is ever that simple. In their way stands thousands of people trapped inside a walled city for half a century. With the bodies of the living and the souls of the damned, the denizens of Kifar have become the living undead.
What’s worse than confronting the undead? Learning that those poor souls blame the imperial family for their predicament. Now the city and its people want retribution and the only thing they will accept is the sacrifice of the empire’s most famous son – Sebastian Athanos Algardis.
He will stand trial for the crimes of his bloodline and it will take more than diplomacy for Ciardis to win his freedom, before a reign of fire comes down from the wyvern and the dragon to burn them all.

Off I go, on to the next book and I do apologize for the wait with this one! Lots of new initiatives went live in 2015 and I am so proud of them, but what I’m most proud is getting back to what gained me lovely readers like you all in the first place – eBooks! For those of you who pre-ordered Sworn To Vengeance via iBooks, please see this full post but everyone should have the new file ready for downloaded via Apple today.
Last but not least, if you an ARC reader or want to be an advance reader for Sworn To Sovereignty: Courtlight #8, please contact Rachel @ assistant@terahedun.com. You’ll be able to read the book before anyone else if chosen!

Sworn To Raise debuts on GIRLS’ LIFE BOOK CLUB with New Hardcover & Book Trailer Reveal
Today I’m so excited to announce that the Courtlight series is now available in hardcover. As you all know I never do anything halfway and so I’d also like to announce the new trailer for the Courtlight series.
I am over-the-moon that Girls’ Life Magazine has elected to debut the trailer and the new cover. So check it out, share, and tell me what you think! Tag #ShatterAnEmpire!
WATCH THE TRAILER
ON GIRLS’ LIFE
My next post will go more in depth about where and how you can pick up a hardcover copy (trust me it’s going to be FABULOUS) but enjoy this post for now:
Last but not least there is a new BLURB to go with this awesome new cover:
Seventeen-year-old Ciardis Vane grew up in a small village on the edge of the realm. Beautiful, destitute, and desperate she is looking to get out any way she can. She has worked her whole live as a laundress with no hope of escaping her fate anytime soon.
But then her life changes when a strange woman appears with the key to Ciardis’s escape. With an offer to take her to the capital and a life she’d never dreamed of, its hard to resist. There’s only one catch.
She wants Ciardis to become a companion: she’ll be required to wear expensive dresses, learn to conduct suitable magic, educate herself on court proclivities, and – in the end – chain herself to the highest bidder. A Patron for life.
Ciardis knows that this is her one opportunity to change her life.
But what she does not know is that she will soon be at the heart of intrigues and power struggles, and that her new life in luxury demands a high price, perhaps even the life of a prince.
