'Place of a Skull' - giveaway

Many thanks to all who entered the giveaway. Copies have been dispatched to all winners. I was surprised and pleased at the level of interest from US and Canada, about 2/3 of the total to judge from the list of winners. Is that simply a matter of numerical proportion, or does the prospect of a tale about the home country, however steeped in tragedy, tug at diaspora heart-strings?

Double book signing at struggling indie

Saturday 29th was Independent Booksellers' Day, in recognition of which Steve Pritchard of Pritchard's Bookshop, Crosby, arranged a double signing by local authors, myself and Ruth Hamilton. I grew up in Crosby and Pritchard's was always there, part of the community. It still is, but is struggling badly as cynical developers lower the attractiveness of the area by keeping nearby properties empty. Still,it was an enjoyable occasion, especially for me in making Ruth's acquaintance. She is much more than the best-selling author of 26 books. She is a colourful character, not afraid to harangue passers-by and call on them to keep the shop going. If it were up to her the future of the shop would be secure. We got on very well and bought and signed each other's books.
