Gay Dating Success and Mr Michael Alvear
I’ve been show cased today on the blog of Michael Alvear. To me, this is quite a coup considering who Mike is. Michael Alvear co-hosted HBO’s The Sex Inspectors, the first sex makeover series on television. He is the author of Sex Inspectors Master Class: How to Have an Amazing Sex Life (based on the TV series) and Men Are Pigs But We Love Bacon, a “best of” collection of his nationally syndicated sex advice column.
He’s been a frequent contributor to National Public Radio’s “All Things Considered,” and his culture critiques have appeared in Newsweek, Washington Post, Reader’s Digest, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and numerous other dailies. He runs his extremely successful blog, http://www.gaydatingsuccess.net and offers gay men everywhere advice on the dating scene as well as other topical and usefully entertaining posts on things like bottoming like a porn star.
You can find my appearance here – http://www.gaydatingsuccess.net/2014/01/20/excerpt-stripped-bare-gay-romanceerotica-best-seller-sue-mac-nicol/
So I think I’m in esteemed company appearing with him. He was kind enough to offer me the opportunity and like any self promoting author I grabbed it with both hands and salivated at the very thought. I knew this was a great way to reach out to thousands of gay men everywhere and perhaps entice them to see my work and the work of the M/M genre in particular. It’s no secret that it appears that most gay fiction is read by straight women
Josh Lanyon, one of the M/M fiction gurus and leaders, has his own views and you can read about them here http://www.lambdaliterary.org/features/06/08/straight-womengay-romance/
And this was a great article that appeared on the Heroes and Heartbreakers Romance blog site. http://www.heroesandheartbreakers.com/blogs/2011/05/why-do-straight-women-read-gay-male-erotica
So the opportunity to appeal to gay men and try and attract them to this genre was a definite YES. We write stories about gay men in relationships, some driven by angst and torment, some by sheer lust, some by emotional need and others just because they are tarts and like to put another notch on the belt. But you know what – this could be heterosexual sex as well, so there is no difference other than we write about two men in love instead of a man and a woman. The feelings, the emotions, the trauma, the romance- everything is the same. They go to work, they go to dinner, they have sex, make love, argue, make up, visit family, have hobbies – they are simply people going about their lives the best way they know how. So if you’re enticed by this whole M/M Romance thing, why not give it a try and see how you like it?

Winter Wonderland Blog Hop- Jan 16th to 19th
This blog hop post is all about asking, “What makes a hero in movies and books wonderful to the point your toes curl?”
That’s a bit of a leading question for me. It doesn’t take much to make my toes curl and give me a warm feeling in the pit of my stomach. And believe me, I see a lot of pictures of gorgeous, sexy half and fully naked men in various states of undress and arousal. In fact ‘man poker’ has become a bit of thing on my Facebook page when the urge strikes. You know, I raise you one man picture, then someone comes along and bets me a picture of two men together, then another posts three men doing God knows what and …well, you get the idea.
I digress. Whether it be a book or a movie, I like my men dark, confident, and intelligent. Gerard Butler material, or the gorgeous Craig Olejnik from the TV series, ‘The Watcher.’ I like them tough, with great eyebrows, mesmerising eyes and a tight backside. I like cheek and wit, compassion and tenderness and a little bit of pure attitude.
I like men who respect themselves, who are professional and committed to their profession and yet able to laugh at themselves. I like a man to be emotional and show his feelings just a little bit. That wet gleam in the eye as tears threaten, the swallowing of the throat, the flicker of the eyes – it makes me shiver all over. I’ve read books where my own throat swells and tears appear as a hero shows his vulnerability, his hurt and you feel it deep inside, feel his pain because a scene has been so well written and you get so immersed in it.
So this is what makes my toes curl. What floats your boat?

Explicit Excerpt
Scott
“Hands and knees, boy.”
I obeyed him, doing my best to move smoothly and gracefully, just like he’d taught me. I tensed when his hand spread my cheeks and he pushed a couple of slick fingers into me. I squirmed as his fingers scissored inside me, stretching me. When Ben pulled his fingers free, I stifled my noises of disappointment. Ben held up something for me to see. It was a slim butt plug in black silicone. I swallowed.
I tried to relax as he pushed it slowly into me. “God, it feels so big.”
Ben chuckled. “This is nothing, wait until it’s my cock.” And didn’t that thought send a ripple through me. At last I felt the flat base of the plug and knew it was all the way in.
“Stand up.”
I got to my feet, the movement pushing the plug against my prostate. Oh, hell. I couldn’t see me lasting long without coming—until I saw what Ben held in his hand. It was a cage of some sort, its shape mimicking a dick. I gasped as Ben pushed a metal ring over my cock and eased my balls through it carefully. The ring had a catch where it rested on top of my dick. Then he slid a lubed hand over my length. I shuddered to finally feel his hand on me, but it was short-lived as he proceeded to slide the cage very slowly over my cock, until at last it snapped into position on the cock ring.
“Sir?
Ben grinned. “Subs who behave the way you did have to expect punishment.”
I gulped. All in all, I thought I’d got off lightly, except Ben wasn’t finished.
“On your knees.”
I obeyed him, conscious of the plug in my ass and the weight of the cage around my cock. I wondered what was coming next, and my mouth fell open when Ben unzipped his fly and pushed his jeans down over his hips. Ben cupped my chin and lifted my face to look at him.
“Suck my cock, boy. And make it good.”
Oh… oh, wow.
Ben
God, I was hard.
Scott knelt before me. Smiling up at me, he pulled my underwear down slowly, releasing the solid cock hidden inside. It sprang up, heavy and thick, bouncing in his face. Scott’s eyes moved to mine. I nodded toward my cock.
“Sir? May I?” Scott lowered his eyes reverently. I placed my hands atop Scott’s head.
“Do it, boy,” I whispered. Scott reached for the thick shaft in front of him. “No hands.” My voice was thick and husky.
Scott nuzzled my balls before licking from the base to the head of my engorged prick.
I couldn’t suppress a shudder. Scott chuckled, and I gave my boy a quick cuff on the side of his head. Grabbing Scott’s head, I pushed him down, the warm lips engulfing my prick. I moaned, the sensation of the boy’s mouth nearly overwhelming. I let him suck at his own pace for a few moments before I locked my hands around Scott’s head and started thrusting into his mouth. All too soon, my balls began to pull up.
“You’re doing so well. Going to come, boy.”
Scott tried to back off as I shot, but my grip held him tight. I emptied my load into his waiting mouth. When I was done, I gave the simple one-word command.
“Swallow.”
I smiled as Scott gulped my load, his throat working on the head of my dick, causing tremors to rock my body. After I’d finished, I released him. He leaned back and looked me in the eye, smiling, a part of my come running slowly down his chin. I wiped it off with my thumb and started drawing away, but he grabbed my hand and popped my thumb into his mouth. He released it, and his eyes dropped to the floor.
“Thank you, Sir.”
I couldn’t help the wide smile on my face. Now to deliver the bad news.
“Now you’re going to bed. And the plug and cage stay there for the night.”
I watched his eyes widen as realization sunk in. Now he got it.
Author Biography
K C Wells
Born and raised in the north-west of England, K.C.Wells always loved writing. Words were important. Full stop. However, when childhood gave way to adulthood, the writing ceased, as life got in the way.
K.C. discovered erotic fiction in 2009, where the purchase of a ménage storyline led to the startling discovery that reading about men in love was damn hot. In 2012, arriving at a really low point in life led to the desperate need to do something creative. An even bigger discovery waited in the wings – writing about men in love was even hotter…
K.C. now writes full-time and is loving every minute of her new career.
The laptop still has no idea of what hit it… it only knows that it wants a rest, please. And it now has to get used to the idea that where K.C goes, it goes.

Parker Williams
PARKER WILLIAMS began to write as a teen, but never showed his work to anyone. As he grew older, he drifted away from writing, but his love of the written word moved him to reading. A chance encounter with an author changed the course of his life as she encouraged him to never give up on a dream. With the help of some amazing friends, he rediscovered the joy of writing, thanks to a community of writers who have become his family.
Parker firmly believes in love, but is also of the opinion that anything worth having requires work and sacrifice (plus a little hurt and angst, too). The course of love is never a smooth one, and Happily Ever After always has a price tag.

SLOW BURN Blog Tour with Sam B. Morgan
Slow Burn is an M/M Contemporary Romance
BLURB:
Detective Douglas Brody has only ever known the life of a cop. Raised strict but fair by his police chief father, he joined the academy right out of school, climbed the ranks hard and fast, and now works homicide for the City of Charleston. The job is his entire life. For years it’s kept him happy enough to minimize the side of him that craves what he believes is wrong. When an accident on the job puts him temporarily off duty, everything in Brody’s world changes. He has to prove himself once more to be best cop in the department, all while dealing with Zack – his persistent, sexy, and out of the closet physical therapist.
Zack is big grins, floppy hair and tackles his job with the same full-blown enthusiasm he does everything else. When the “patient from hell” is thrown his way by another PT who can’t handle him, Zack is committed to achieving the impossible. His new patient is a head strong and hot as hell homicide detective, who oozes as much resentment as he does sex appeal. Any involvement with a patient, never mind a man who is so deep in the closet he can’t see light, is something Zack swore he’d never do again.
But Brody slowly proves too much to resist…
All about Sam B. Morgan
Sam B. Morgan writes contemporary gay romance with complex, complicated men. A love of travel means settings from small town South Carolina to Sydney, Australia serve not only as backdrops, but supporting characters in each and every book. Sam enjoys fast cars, slow Sunday mornings, hot coffee, and even hotter heroes.
Excerpt
He could work out a resting heart rate from this, listening to the strong thumps, quickly glancing down at his watch. Decent. Resting below sixty. Brody was fit. A lot more fit than he gave himself credit for. The muscles in his chest were defined, and that didn’t come from police work. He had to work out regularly.
The meat of Zack’s hand rested on his broad chest, fingers moving on the swell of his pectorals as they rose and fell with each breath. The stir in his shorts brought him back front and center to the fact that this wasn’t the best idea. Leaning over his very attractive and touch-phobic patient. Even if all he intended to do was see if the man could lighten up. Maybe even laugh.
He wasn’t laughing now. When Zack lifted his eyes to Brody’s, he was hit with the full intensity of stormy gray. Not filled with amusement anymore but with something else.
It sent heat down Zack’s spine and into his shoes. He wasn’t even listening to the beats, just frozen in place with the buds in his ears, fingers still pressed to Brody’s chest as they stared at each other. The humor of the moment fell away as Brody continued to stare, arms still folded behind his head, mouth set into a straight line.
Zack straightened a tad too sharply and tucked the scope around his neck. Pulling his face into a rehearsed, easy smile, he hid the heat thrumming in his veins. “Yeah. You’ll live.” He started backing toward the door and gave a lame salute that made him want to cringe. God he was such a spaz. “I…I’ll see you next week.”
He rushed to exit stage left, narrowly missing the doorframe on the way out.
~*~
Zack could be downright pushy when he went into healthcare-professional mode. Brody wasn’t used to being told what to do. The small voice inside him that rejoiced in response was the one he hated most. He clenched his eyes shut and relaxed his leg.
“Good,” Zack said, his voice low as he focused.
He scooted himself up, knelt down, and hooked Brody’s knee over his arm, placing one hand at the back of his thigh, the other on the front. Brody tensed everywhere. He didn’t mean to, he probably shouldn’t, but he couldn’t help it.
“Relax. Hey,” Zack said and didn’t say another word until Brody opened his eyes and met Zack’s gaze. “Relax. The cramp comes right back if you’re tense. Trust me.”
Brody nodded again because it was all he could manage. It wasn’t that he didn’t trust Zack. Oddly enough, he did. But he didn’t trust himself. He didn’t like being in someone else’s hands—yet he did. He wasn’t comfortable with the vulnerability, but he was. And the position he was in was more than a tad suggestive. Except, of course, to someone like Zack. Zack, who only saw physiology, muscles, and ice packs. Cramps instead of sexual tension. Charlie horses instead of thighs.
“Good,” Zack repeated as Brody relaxed.
Brody focused on the trees to his left and tried not to think about the man between his legs or the hands all over him. It made him wonder about the next time he could get out of town.
“Is this helping?” Zack asked.
“Huh? Oh…yeah. Thanks,” Brody answered without looking at him.
Zack didn’t say anything. Didn’t move. Didn’t seem to breathe.
Brody knew it was his way of making Brody either talk or look at him or pay attention. Drove him fucking nuts, but it worked. Brody turned his head to glare at Zack like a pissed-off delinquent, but when his eyes found Zack, Zack wasn’t looking back.
Zack’s gaze was somewhere below Brody’s waist, dragging along one thigh, then the other. His attention lingered there, and Brody felt it all the way through his skin. It wasn’t professional Zack checking out his alignment either. Far from.
Something different, something hungry flashed in the deep brown of Zack’s eyes. Brody felt a lick of pure heat drag up his spine and back down. Straight to his groin. He didn’t know what he did to make Zack meet his eyes. He didn’t flinch or gasp or do anything besides remain frozen in place. Still, Zack looked at him, his eyes weaving a tale that had nothing to do with physical therapy.
Grasping fingers, slick skin, entwined bodies, and the kind of intensity that hurt so good you’d want it again and again. It sparked between them and hung in the air, thicker than the midsummer humidity. Brody recognized the same lust that continued to torture him right there in Zack’s eyes.

MY REVIEW
Let me say first that I love this cover. Sexy and oh so tempting. And then of course there’s the story about the uptight, repressed but oh so damn sexy cop and his uber tempting Physical Therapist . I mean this is a match made in heaven.
Detective Douglas Brody is a tough and rough cop, comfortable in the only life he’s ever known. He’s in the closet, determined to make in the Homicide Department in Charleston. But when he injures his knee running after a suspect, he need some tender loving care. Enter the TLC in the form of out and proud Zack. He may be all relaxed, with floppy hair and a grin Brody wants to kiss off his face, but he’s one strong, determined, ‘take no BS’ man and it takes all Brody’s strength to resist the immediate physical reaction the other man stirs in him. Not to mention the fact what he begins to feel in his heart for the irreverent, warm and funny Zack.
This was such a heart warming and beautiful story. The way that Zack gets under Brody’s skin, and keeps trying no matter what, is testament to Zack’s persistence, and his caring nature. Brody is falling hard and no matter how much he fights it, he knows he’s going to fall. Hard. I loved Brody’s description of Zack as a moose, with his long legs, floppy hair, all limbs and body. That was really sweet and endearing and I chuckled every time I heard the word.
Zack is wary of Brody. He’s been someone’s secret before and there is no way he wants that to happen again. But he is smitten with the handsome cop, the loving man that he knows resides inside Brody’s prickly exterior. The give and take between the two is emotionally satisfying, hot as all hell and has some memorable sexy moments. I really felt for Zack when he got a call from his father, from whom he’s been estranged. The poor man’s heart was breaking after that conversation and the tender scene afterwards when Brody comes to get him…just heart warming.
And of course running through the story is Brody’s hunt for the killer that’s terrorising his city. Brody is a great detective and he has a mission to catch the man they call the Strangler. This introduces an interesting and entertaining sub plot into this story.
So this is definitely high on my ‘Must read’ list and in fact I’ll be heading over to see what else Sam B Morgan has written. Buy it, read it, savour it -enjoy it.

Susan Mac Nicol Is Here Today With Giveaways Galore!
Reblogged from The Novel Approach:

I am constantly amazed at the charity and support of people on the various Social Networking groups that I use for promotion and to build my 'author platform.' Not only is it a lot of fun building these blocks on which an author steps her way up the ever increasing competition ladder to try to get the sales for her stories, but it has shown me the innate goodness of people I don't even know face to face.
The wonderful site of the Novel Approach featured me with my views on research for my books and some saucy topics that needed to be covered...I mean, someone has to do it right?? If you fancy a bit of a chuckle, head on down and have a read.

‘Echoes of Innocence’ by Stephen Hill
This is my friend Stephen Hill’s book about his rape at the hands of two men when he was sixteen. It’s an emotional and heart wrenching tale of a man coming to terms with his ordeal and learning to live with his past. I was privileged enough to beta read it when he was writing it and I have to say he’s had one helluva life. If you like reading stories of true survivors, then this one is recommended. Stephen was also interviewed by Survivors in Manchester and you can find the interview at the link below.

You all know I’m a big advocate of men’s rights when it comes to sexual abuse as I think they sometimes struggle to be heard. I’ve written posts about it myself and if you’d like to read them you can see them here. It’s something I feel very strongly about and in fact, I depicted a scene of female on male rape in my debut novel, ‘Cassandra by Starlight.’ I used James Landrith’s own account of his ordeal at the hands of a woman rapist for my research and as a result, James sought me out and we are now friends, even from far away. Distance has no barriers when it comes to subjects like this one.

The first in the Starlight series of books
Civil Liberties and Sexual Rights activist James Landrith has been through the same thing. He’s vocal about his support for victims of rape and you can read all about his views -sometimes very strongly worded!- on his website.

And while you're down there, have a gingerbread cookie and a glass of mulled wine to hand. Part of the sales proceeds for this book are being donated to the NSPCC - the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. And have a very Merry Christmas all!

Christmas Close Down 2013
Good morning! Well, Christmas is nearly upon us and in the maelstrom that is Christmas shopping and preparations, I hope that you’re all staying safe and keeping tempers cool. I know exactly what it’s like when emotions flare, nerves get on end with the constant stream of cheesy Christmas carols burbling out of those tinny supermarket speaker, and children seem to need a firm hand when they act up in the aisle next to you.
I’m still job hunting *sigh* after four months of being out of work. I’ve never been unemployed so long in my life, even when I was on maternity leave with my first born. I have been on interviews but a lot of them are waiting until January to make decisions. I am lucky that in the meantime I can focus on my writing, and keep myself busy doing something I love. All my book deadlines have been duly met PRIOR to deadline date ( how wonderful is that!) so there is a silver lining somewhere in that black unemployable cloud.
So I’m trying merrily to keep up that stiff upper lip and see the future in a positive way. I firmly believe that what will be will be and when the right thing happens, it will be all the more rewarding.
I want to say each one of you, stay safe, be happy and enjoy the family and friends over Christmas and New Year. Look back on the year past and take with you the good things you remember. Try and look forward to 2014 with optimism and of course, always learn from the lessons of the past.
I wish everyone of you a wonderful and prosperous 2014. May it bring everything you hope for it.
I’ll be busy managing my new Christmas release ‘Worth Keeping’ which is due out on the 23rd December. If you’d like any details about it, here’s the book trailer
and a pre order link.
http://www.boroughspublishinggroup.com/books/worth-keeping
I hope everyone out there is feeling happy and festive, and looking forward to the holidays. These are just a few of my favourite pictures of that time, most of them taken in Austria when we were there plus one my hearth at home filled with Christmas presents.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE !!
