Opening the door, I find Dante and Sabrina on the other side. Swinging it wide, I smile broadly as I gesture for them to come it.
“Exton’s been out all day at a production meeting, but—“
“We need to sit down and talk.”
I’m shocked by the serious expression on Dante’s face, but instead of questioning him, I follow as he leads me into Exton’s living room. Dropping down on to a chair, I wait for him to fill me in. As Sabrina takes a seat on the arm of the chair and sets a reassuring hand on my shoulder, my stomach sinks. Something is wrong.
Raking a hand through his hair, Dante lets out a frustrated sigh. “There’s no easy way to say this, so I’m just going to give it to you straight. Exton’s been arrested for assault. He’s in jail.”
Jumping from my seat I cry out in shock. “What the hell are we doing sitting? We need to go get him out!”
“There’s nothing that we can do until tomorrow,” He answers. “His bail hearing will happen in the morning. I need you to pack so that we can be there.”
Looking over at Sabrina, I try to comprehend what’s going on. “I don’t understand—what? Why would we need to fly?”
“That would be because he’s being held at the Small Towne police department.”

Catch My Fall Teaser!
Here's another teaser of Tristan & Mia's story ~ the all important first kiss.
The two of us huddled together over the table as we turned all of the pieces right side up and separated out all of the border pieces. From time to time our arms brush together, something that was I enjoying far too much. He smelled amazing, so good that it made me ache to touch a lot more than just his arm.
Our heads were close together in our position over the table and it was making me a little (okay, a lot) crazy to be so close to him. I wasn’t focusing on the puzzle at all and my hands had stopped trying to assemble the border. Turning his head to me, he opened his mouth to say something but nothing came out. We were eye to eye staring at each other, the silence trapped between us.
I saw him leaning closer as his hands came up to cup my face, and I didn’t pull away or try to stop him. For the first time in my entire life, I really, really wanted to be kissed. It’s not like I’ve never been kissed before; clearly I have. But when you’re the child of someone who got pregnant in high school, you get a lot of safety lectures. Add to that the fact that my father has never missed an opportunity to espouse what a selfish and manipulative person my mother is for ‘trapping’ him and what a ‘burden’ her ‘tricks’ had been for him and I think it’s clear to see why I steered away from intimacy in high school like it was my job.
Tristan’s lips covered mine gently as he started softly before deepening the kiss. When we turned to face each other fully, I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and ran my fingers through his hair. He tasted better than I could ever have imagined, and he kissed me like he had a cheat-sheet for what would make me feel the best. I’ve never been kissed so passionately, or held as if I really matter to someone. Tristan cradled me in his arms like I was precious to him.
We pulled apart at the same time a few minutes later, and because he didn’t let me go, I didn’t let him go, either. We stared at each other in silence for a few moments, and I smiled shyly at him, even as I felt a blush steal across from my face.
He smiled back at me as he continued to stare at me with a look of confusion as the seconds passed before he spoke. “Holy Hell Mia… You make me feel… I don’t even know. Different?”
That’s like the pot calling the kettle black. The way I feel around Tristan is entirely new. “Right back at you,” I said quietly.

The CATCH MY FALL Prologue is here!
The punches fly through the air, almost no time passing between the loud sounds of a fist hitting skin again and again. I’m screaming, screaming, screaming for it to stop, for everything to stop, but my screams do nothing, not even a pause in the beating that is happening. Wherever he’s gone, he can’t hear me.
Forcing my sore and possibly broken body up off the hard ground, I stumble over to where they are, lurching forward and grabbing his arm with both hands as I try to pull him away. My hands on his skin seem to bring him back to reality, at least for the moment, but I fear that he will go back to that dark place
I hear the distant sound of sirens, and although ten minutes ago I was praying to hear this sound, now I’m terrified. They’re going to arrest him and take him away from me if I don’t calm him down and get myself together enough to tell the police exactly what happened. I’m scared and broken, but I need to force myself to stay strong for him. I’m more afraid of losing him than I am of anything else.
His eyes… the beautiful eyes that I’ve come to love so much are full of rage and pain, and I can tell that he’s far away in his head. Letting go of his arm I lift both of my hands up and cup his face, forcing him to look at me.
I am barely able to croak words out of my sore and swollen throat, my screams having depleted my voice to almost nothing.
I force the words out, needing him to listen to me so that the police don’t find him wide-eyed and raging.
“Stan, you have to pull yourself together. I need you. I. Need. You.”
My words breakthrough whatever fugue state he’s in, and my heart breaks as he crumbles. Dropping to his knees he wraps his arms around my waist and buries his face against my stomach before he croaks out one word.
“Mimi…”
