A GOOD MARRIAGE by @kimberlymccreight: you better believe I’m reading anything @franzencomesalive recommends (she was the first to sound the alarm for #miraclecreek), so when I read her rave review of this “domestic suspense meets legal thriller” (Kimberly’s description!!) about a young attorney who agrees to help a former classmate accused of murder, I knew I needed to prioritize it. And I’m glad I did. Warning: don’t go into this one expecting a big twist-ending; there are a couple of fun character reveals, but ultimately this is a slow-burn story about marriage, power dynamics, and the lengths ordinary people will go to in order to protect their families and the secrets that threaten to tear them apart. I loved the narrative structure and timeline jumps (the story is told from the POV of the attorney, the murder victim, and grand jury transcripts), and found myself setting aside all of my other reading in favor of finishing this one!
