The Next Big Thing Blog Hop

Thank you, Tara Mills, for tagging me to be a part of this blog hop.

What is the working title of your next book?
To Fly in Shadows is book two in the Black Creek Trilogy. It is tentatively set to be released on February 1st.

Where did the idea come from for the book?
Somewhere deep inside my head. I’m not sure. Those dang characters do what they want.

What genres does your book fall under?
Romantic Suspense.

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
Reese Witherspoon and Chris Hemsworth.

What is a one sentence synopsis of your book?
When her violent past comes back to haunt her, a conservation biologist and a building developer find they have more than their differing lifestyles pulling them apart.

Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
Book one, Black Creek Burning, was published through Crimson Romance. I am self-publishing the rest of the trilogy.

How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
9 months.

What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
Black Hills by Nora Roberts.

Who or what inspired you to write this book?
The amazing folks at Operation Mirgration and the East Coast Center for Conservation Biology.

What else about your book might pique the reader’s interest?
The main character is a conservation biologist who specializes in the banding and rehabilitation of eagles. Her best friend and love interest is a landscape designer and builder. Yikes. It was fun creating a bridge for these two. Their connection runs deep.

What’s New with R.T.?

What’s new? I’m not sure where to begin, but I want to thank everyone who’s been asking! I’ve been a closet-author for so long, public inquiries are tricky for me.

Regarding my work, my debut romantic suspense, Black Creek Burning, is out and working its way on the charts.

After witnessing the murder of her parents, an aloof teacher and landscape designer finds more than she bargains for in her new neighbor, a clever wood working artist who’s determined to win her over and find the killer.

This getting started in the publishing world thing is nuts. What a ride! I’ve made it into the top 5 out of 700 Goodreads New Authors to Read, had the honor of serving as a guest on USA  Today’s Happy Ever After blog and am starting a review blog tour next week. The Black Creek Burning book trailer is nearing 1,000 hits, I sold over 150 books at my first signing, and I have a signed print book giveaway going on through Goodreads until December 31st. How did this happen? I’m incredibly humbled.

Book two in the Black Creek Trilogy, To Fly in Shadows, is tentatively to be released on February 1st.

Can a lifelong need for one another be enough to allow a conservation biologist and a building developer to find compromise as their different beliefs and her violent past work to rip them apart?

This novel is ready to be sent to the formatters and book cover artist. The book trailer photo shoot was amazing. The superintendent at our local zoo allowed my model in the eagle and hawk exhibits and to hold an amazingly beautiful barn owl on her arm. How perfect for the main character’s role of conservation biologist.

Currently, I am working on book three and still have a tentative release of July 1st for Dark Vengeance.

A Hollywood artist spends much of his life reliving the night his beloved aunt was nearly murdered. The night he was used as bait. Now the assailant is free and a whole new line of twists begin…twists that include a brilliant and confusing detective.

On a more personal note, I’m learning how to juggle writing and publishing. For years it was just writing. The addition of publishing is quite a ride. Blog tours, social networking, supporting fellow authors…the list truly goes on. Oh yes, I have a family! LOL I’m traveling all over the Midwest watching my three sons compete at their swim meets. (always with my laptop on board) Recently, we took a ski trip to Colorado. A dislocated rib, influenza and bronchitis couldn’t keep the Wolfe’s boys down! We had a blast.

I can’t thank you enough for your constant support. I appreciate the reviews, the times you share about my trilogy and for reading my novels!

Gratefully,

R.T. Wolfe

Crimson Wonderland Blog Hop

Snow resting on scattered rocks sprinkled throughout a black creek? Crocus’ bullying winter as they push their green through the white? The ‘roll down the windows and blast the playlist’ feeling that comes with the first seventy degree day of spring? Or the humid heat that lays thick on the shoulders of a woman as she watches the murder of her parents?

Welcome to the changing seasons of upstate New York in the romantic suspense, Black Creek Burning. I am visual and rely heavily on the picture an author creates. I believe readers should forget where they’re at when they read. Come…leave your computer and visit the lovely, heartwarming, tension building world of Black Creek Burning.

Brianna Chapman is the only witness to the murder of her parents…an arson that was meant for her. After several years, Brianna learns to cope by burying herself in her beloved teaching job by day and landscaping business by night. What she doesn’t count on is nationally renowned woodworking artist, Nathan Reed. He and his two adorable young nephews move into the run-down historical farmhouse behind her. Nathan pushes his way through Brianna’s hard shell and is determined to both win her heart and solve the murder.

The story takes place in the middle of scenic upstate New York near Seneca Lake in the fictitious small town of Northridge. Come join Nathan as he, “patiently transforms Brianna from an icy self-proclaimed independent into a woman willing to accept the love of a strong man and a family in need of a mother…” as said by EPIC Award Winning Author, Laurie Larsen. You’ll travel through three seasons with both the physical and metaphorical changes that occur in each. Enjoy a saucy stop in an Oregon tree house hotel and a sentimental trip to Niagara Falls.

To enter the rafflecopter contest for a chance to win either a $100 giftcard or one of two $50 giftcards to Amazon or Barnes and Noble, be sure to leave a comment below. Here is the link to an interactive list of all the participating blogs. Increase your chances of winning and visit a few more.

Good luck and thank you for visiting upstate New York!

Tag. You’re It.

I was tagged by Alicia Dean (Soul Seducer, A Knight Before Christmas, Lady in the Midst, and more). Thank you, Alicia! I’m glad you enjoyed Black Creek Burning enough to choose me as one of the five authors you recommended. You’re a talented author and thoughtful person.

What is the title of my next book?

To Fly in Shadows is the second installment of the Black Creek Trilogy. Right now, it is in the hands of the East coast Center for Conservation Biology for review regarding the authenticity of scenes and facts pertaining to the main character’s career as a conservation biologist who specializes in the banding and rehabilitation of eagles. It is also with my eagle eye (pun intended) freelance copy editor, H. Danielle Crabtree. It is set to be released February 1st.

What genre does it fall under?

Romantic Suspsense

Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?  Jessica Perez and Chris Hemsworth.

And now I’m going to tag five authors. Ugh. This is really hard. I know too many amazin authors to choose just five. Here goes and not  in this order!

Ine’s Saint (Charmed and Strangers in the Night): Her writing is poetic, and her stories will completely take you in and warm your heart.

Sharon Clare (Love of Her Lives and soon-to-be-released Rhapsody): Love of Her Lives is one of my all-time favorites. I cried buckets of tears-both happy and sad. She can suck you in. :)

M.J. Schiller (Taken by Storm and soon-to-be-released Trapped Under Ice): For a moving love story with wise-cracks and action, try her out!

Laurie Larsen (2010 EPIC Award Winner for Preacher Man): Preacher Man is one of the most feel-good stories I’ve ever read. I read it in one day. :)

Rena Koontz (Love’s Secret Fire): Firemen, family ties, arson, murder, the mob, a string of suspects and a forbidden romance. This one will keep you guessing.

If you were tagged, grab the questions above – or create your own! – and tag five authors you love … let’s keep this going.

Crimson Wonderland Blog Hop/Romantic Suspense, Black Creek Burning

Thank you for visiting the Crimson Wonderland Blog Hop. The official dates are November 17 through 21, but I’ve gotten so many hits on the blog already, I posted my entry early.

I hope you’ve found many cozy books to try out on the hop. I decided the setting for my romantic suspense was best described by the 2010 EPIC Award Winning author. Here is her 5-star review of Black Creek Burning:

“I thoroughly enjoyed RT Wolfe’s masterful debut novel, Black Creek Burning.  Written with confident expertise on a variety of topics such as landscaping and home remodeling, I got wrapped up in the engaging storytelling of this wonderful tale of love, danger and suspense.  Along the way I completely fell in love with hero Nathan as he patiently transformed the heroine Brie from an icy self-proclaimed independent into a woman willing to accept the love of a strong man and a family in need of a mother.  The details were delicious, the settings were masterfully painted, the mystery was a stumper and the romance was beautifully satisfying.

A top-rate romantic suspense from a talented promising new author.  I hear rumors that this is the first book of a series, and I gleefully await the sequel!”

Author of Preacher Man, 2010 EPIC Award Winner
