To Tame the Wind is coming...!

Picture TO TAME THE WIND, the prequel to the Agents of the Crown trilogy and book 1 in the Donet duology, is nearly here!

I've finished the book and will soon be done with final edits and then it's off to my editor for his polishing. Look for it in May.

Yes, there will be a Goodreads contest for the paperback and I'll be sharing tidbits from my research in blog posts! You can see my Pinterest board for the story here: https://www.pinterest.com/reganwalker...

Meanwhile, here's the back cover description:

France 1782…AN INNOCENT IS TAKEN

All Claire Donet knew was the world inside the convent walls in Saint-Denis. She had no idea her beloved papa was a pirate. But when he seized Simon Powell's schooner, the English privateer decided to take the thing his enemy held most dear...her.

A BATTLE IS JOINED

The waters between France and England roil with the clashes of Claire's father and her captor as the last year of the American Revolution rages on the sea, spies lurk in Paris and Claire’s passion for the English captain rises.

Ireland and the Penal Laws

My guest today is Kimberly Cates who is talking about the fascinating history of Ireland and the Penal laws.

Ireland-- land of mystery, magic, fairies and legends where heroes and harpers, poets and warriors became immortal, and the royal hill of Tara still whispers of greatness. During the Dark Ages, while all the rest of Europe was swept into chaos, saints and scholars on this small island buffeted by the Atlantic preserved the knowledge of mankind. But the time would come when Ireland's enemies would attempt to systematically extinguish the light of the native Irish for all time. The weapon: a roll of repressive laws against anyone who would not submit to England's State Religion. The result was hardly what Ireland's conquerors expected. See More.

The Early History of Valentines!

Picture Though St. Valentine’s Day has been celebrated for a very long time, the Valentine’s Day cards we send today, and their romantic precursors with pictures, real lace and ribbons, didn’t really come into fashion until the mid 19th century with the Victorian era. However, that didn’t mean that lovers in earlier eras didn’t observe the day. Of course, they did.

I don’t doubt that since the beginning of human history, lovers have found a way to send each other notes of their love. But Valentine’s Day was first associated with romantic love in the circle of Geoffrey Chaucer in the 14th century when the tradition of courtly love flourished. See MORE .

Best Viking Romances!

Picture Every now and then I love a good Viking Romance. Not fantasy, not paranormal, just straight up historical romance from the time of the raiding Norse warriors. There’s nothing like a Viking raid and a strapping tall warrior to get your blood boiling, right? Well, of course, it must be well done and we want a strong heroine to give the guy a hard time. And a little history thrown in doesn’t hurt either. If you like ‘em, I have a list of those I’ve rated 4 and 5 stars--see it HERE!

My Favorite Heroes & Heroines!

Picture It's Christmas time and at this time I always post my list of Favorite Heroes & Heroines from those stories I've rated 5 stars. I have read and reviewed over 750 historical romances and in those novels that I have loved the most there are some wonderful heroes and heroines…noble men who though they may have tortured pasts, flaws and all the odds against them, overcome to conquer and to love; and heroines who persist against great obstacles to be with the man to whom they would give their heart—strong, intelligent women of character. Worthy heroes and heroines every one.

To see the list, click HERE. And comment to win a copy of my Christmas story THE HOLLY & THE THISTLE!
