Excerpt:
Sebastiano Fiorentelli studied the calendar — a freebie from the Humane Society with photos of puppies and kittens on it — on the wall of his cluttered basement laboratory and observed that it was the thirtieth day of October. Since emigrating to the United States and discovering the Halloween custom of sending children around to beg for treats, he’d made a habit of including something extra in the candy he made for the occasion each year. By the Nineteen-seventies, when hysteria over poison and razor blades swept the population, Mr. Fiorentelli had been living in his San Jose neighborhood long enough that no one fussed about letting their children eat his wax-paper-wrapped candies.
He paced back and forth in front of open cabinets and crowded shelves, pondering what to make this year, until finally he stopped and nodded.
“Courage,” he said. “This year, I think I’ll make courage…”

About the Author:
Angela Benedetti lives in Seattle with her husband, five computers, and thousands of books. She started writing as a teenager, and discovered soon after that romances with two hot guys are twice as good as romances with only one. When she’s not at the computer, she enjoys cooking and baking, going to science fiction conventions, and cruising with her husband. She’s one of the few people in the universe who loses weight on cruises. (Must be all those walking-around shore tours and the lack of free internet access.) Her favorite mainstream fiction genres are science fiction and fantasy, both of which tend to seep into her own writing; the Hidden Magic series is a fun blend of romance and fantasy.

Release Date: 27th April, 2015
Blurb:
Corbin Ford, aka the Nightwatchman, named for the antique pocket watches he leaves behind at jobs, has been in the cat-burgling business for years. His father was. His grandfather was. His mother is still one of the most renowned thieves. Corbin likes his high-profile heists, priceless paintings from private collections, artifacts from museums, but his favorite? Jewels. Sparkly, beautiful jewels. If they’re famous, better yet.
Interpol agent Luke Eldridge has one goal and one goal only: to catch the Nightwatchman. Luke’s been after him for months, but getting the slip time and again is getting embarrassing. Luke has never even laid eyes on the bastard, but he’d happily strangle him. And then arrest him.
When Luke meets Corbin, the man of his dreams, he falls hard and fast… only to catch Corbin red-handed with his hand in a jewelry case at the scene of the highest-profile murder that’s rocked the international world in years.
It was still beautiful outside by the time they’d wandered through the market and back to Luke’s building, ice creams in hand. The evening was getting chilly, though, and Corbin had goose bumps up and down his arms. It wasn’t time to go inside yet. Corbin had already wasted a lot of this perfect day sleeping. He wasn’t ready to give it up. He huddled closer to Luke, who threw his free arm over Corbin’s shoulders.
“Freezing?”
“Yeah. I guess it’s not quite short-sleeve weather yet.”
Luke chuckled. “England newbie. Give it another month and even the nights will be warm.”
He squeezed Corbin closer and rubbed his chilled arm. Corbin had to admit it was nice. He’d been admitting a lot of things were nice lately. He tried to imagine his mother’s voice, when she found out he was actually dating someone. Someone with a regular job. Someone who handled money and probably would not have the most favorable opinion of Corbin’s line of work. That little scene in his head took away a bit of the romance of his whirlwind… whatever they were doing, with Luke and life so he pushed it away.
The lights of the market, and the music coming from the Chinese food stall belting out Mariah and Britney brought him back to Luke and how happy he was walking along being a normal guy. It had been hours since he’d thought of his next shiny conquest, which in itself was highly unusual. It was like he’d replaced his first and most familiar drug with another, one that was far more addictive and dangerous. Corbin didn’t want to think of the possible consequences. He told himself not to go crazy trying to figure out what could happen in the future. It wouldn’t do any good.
“You want to finish these on those benches? Then we can go upstairs?” he asked, gesturing toward his ice cream.
The sun had mostly sunk below the buildings, and the earlier warmth was long gone. He was freezing his nutsack off, but he didn’t want to let go of the night. He liked being out in public with Luke, not one of the shadows or a spider scuttling around the corner. He liked the fleeting feeling of being a real person. Someone who lived in the sunlight.
“Sure. You going to be too cold?” Luke asked.
“I’ll be fine.
“Here. I’m fine. Wear my jacket.”
Corbin accepted Luke’s jacket with a smile and a nod. Then he bumped shoulders with him and cuddled closer to watch the water and the people, and listen to the off-key pop music from the corner stall. It was really, really good. Better than he thought he could have and nothing he thought he’d ever want. Corbin took a big bite out of his raspberry cheesecake ice cream.
“You’re a biter. I don’t know if this little thing we have can continue.” Luke teased.
“Please. You love it when I bite,” Corbin said. He elbowed Luke lightly.
“That was corny.”
“And your joke wasn’t?”
“Guilty.” Luke sat there silently for a few moments. “Okay, this is probably going to be a whole new level of corny, but I’m going to say it anyway.”
“What?” Corbin’s pulse sped up a bit, happy and trippy and ready to bump its way right out of his neck.
“I’ve been having a great time getting to know you.”
Luke sounded fumbling and sweet. It was such a one-eighty from the dark, rough, suave guy from the first night at the club, the confident well-off man he’d come to know. Corbin liked all the sides of him. The one who was weathered and savvy and used to society, and now this one, who didn’t have much experience or skill with dating. He wanted to know more about all of them.
“Me too. I can’t believe how fast the month has flown by.”
“That’s kind of what I was thinking. So….” Luke blushed under his golden skin.
Corbin thought he was unbelievably adorable. He couldn’t help curling his free hand around Luke’s thigh. “What were you thinking?”
“If we made this a little more… official maybe? I don’t really do dating. You know that. Not before, anyway. But I seem to be breaking all my rules for you.”
Corbin wanted to smile and run and laugh and scream all at the same time. Instead he gave Luke’s thigh a squeeze. “Yeah. I’ve been doing my share of rule-breaking too.”
“Is that a yes?”
“I think so. Does that mean you’re my….” Corbin wasn’t sure he could say the word.
“Boyfriend?” Luke snorted. “God, I feel like a tenth grader.”
“Hey, I kinda like that word. Never said it before, at least not about myself, but I think I like it.”
“Yeah. Me too. And same. Well, not for years anyway. I tried that back in school, but it was pretty much a disaster.”
“That’s not very optimistic.” Corbin chuckled. He didn’t really mean it. He had a good feeling about him and Luke. Sure, it was probably going to end with him disappearing into the night sometime in the near future, but he really fucking liked the way he felt when he was with him. He liked the glances they got from people, fond and happy, like they were looking at new love.
“I didn’t mean you,” Luke said with his soft laugh. “You’re not a disaster at all.”

I’m Mj O’Shea
I grew up, and still live, in sunny Washington state and while I love to visit other places, I can’t imagine calling anywhere else home.
I spent my childhood writing stories. Sometime in my early teens, the stories turned to romance. Most of those were about me, my friends, and our favorite movie and pop stars. Hopefully, I’ve come a long way since then.
When I’m not writing, I love to play the piano, dance, cook, paint pictures, and of course read! I like sparkly girly girl things, own at least twenty different colored headbands, and I have two little dogs who sit with me when I write. Sometimes they comes up with ideas for me too…when they’re not busy napping.

Blood and Ghosts; by Shira Anthony – Guest Interview and Giveaway
Please welcome back Shira Anthony who is here today to talk about her newest release, Blood and Ghosts. Make sure to read through to the end to check out the very cool giveaway Shira is doing.
Welcome back Shira, since you’ve been a guest before, how about just a brief reminder about yourself?
Thanks for having my again, Andrew! So the quick down and dirty about me… I’m a former opera singer, an attorney, and I write gay romances. I’ve written stories about musicians, lawyers, mermen, and vampires.
So let’s jump right in, you’re really moving away from your ‘comfort’ zone lately. First Mermen, now Vampires. Talk about that dynamic a bit.
I love writing contemporary romance, but I’ve loved reading fantasy and sci fi since I was a kid, so I think the progression to stepping out of the comfort zone of “what I know” (musicians) into my imagination was a natural one. Maybe out of my comfort zone is becoming my comfort zone?
But seriously, writing in a universe readers are familiar with (contemporary) is a great place to start before tackling the more challenging fantasy world building. I had written enough contemporary books that I felt more confident writing a universe from the ground up. But it’s still a huge challenge, and I couldn’t do it without my beta readers and my fabulous editor.
The Blood series, can you give us an overview of the series as a whole?
Three books in total: Blood and Rain, Blood and Ghosts, and Blood and Eternity. The vampires are not so much demonic, but a different species from humans. They can breed with humans, and they can also create vampires in the more traditional style from human beings. Their society has a hierarchy, with those born vampires (“ancient vampires”) as the equivalent of royalty. The ancients take care of other vampires and they entered into a true with the vampire hunters that the hunters may execute vampires who murder humans.
The plot begins in the late 1800s in France, and extends to 2015 in the United States. It follows the two main characters, Nicolas Lambert, an ancient vampire, and Adrien Gilbert, a vampire hunter. Adrien falls for Nicolas in spite of his hatred of the creatures who killed his mother when he was a young boy. Adrien becomes immortal through Nicolas’s blood, although Adrien does not become a vampire. Adrien and Nicolas are separated, and Adrien vows to find Nicolas.
The story features three pairings, and never fear, all will get their HEAs (I’m a sucker for a happy ending!). But before they get their HEA, Nicolas and Adrien will struggle and suffer as they try to prevent a war between hunters and vampires.
Shifting to Blood and Ghosts, how does that move the series along?
Blood and Ghosts is a bridge between books, in some sense, in that it features the manifestation of Adrien’s power as an immortal hunter: he can control time. Blood and Ghosts answers many questions, but although the book ends with a happily for now, there is still a great deal that needs to be resolved before the two men can by happy.
How much research did you do to write this type of novel?
I researched French history from the late 1800s and incorporated that into the books. France was much like England in Victorian times. A society on the verge of the modern era, but with one foot still firmly planted in the past, with its conventions and customs.
What part of the book was the most fun to write and why?
The ending was the most fun to write, because I was able to reunite the two main characters after a great deal of grief. It’s romantic, and it’s poignant, because it leaves Adrien with a choice to make (I won’t spoil that). I love writing angsty scenes!
What part made you struggle them most?
The time travel. Hands down. I rewrote the time travel bits a half a dozen times, and kept tweaking with my betas and editors so it makes logical sense. There are still a few anachronisms left unexplained, but they are intentional, and will be resolved in the last book in the series. Seriously, time travel makes my head spin!
Tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb?
Adrien’s power comes with his own personal demon, of sorts. For those of you who know Star Trek, think good Kirk/evil Kirk. Adrien’s demon is his baser nature. He must learn to control the demon to control his power, and if he fails, he will die. The struggle isn’t at all over at the end of Blood and Ghosts, but the stage is set for it.
Where is the series going from here?
The last book will probably be released in the first half of 2016. And while I have an idea for a spinoff series for my Mermen of Ea books, this series will end with the Blood and Eternity.
What have you read lately that most people haven’t read but should?
Wow! Tough question. I haven’t had a lot of time to read lately. I have read a few graphic novels (Japanese manga) to cleanse my writing palate, though. There’s a fabulous series called Tokyo Ghoul I’m pretty much hooked on. It’s pretty violent and gruesome, but the plot and the art are gripping. I’m also completely in love with the Attack on Titan series. Similar, paranormal/fantasy manga from Japan. I’m a very visual person, so reading the graphic novels inspires me with my own writing.
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
The last book in the Mermen of Ea Series, Running with the Wind, comes out on June 8th! I’m so excited about that, although I’m going to miss some of those characters. Some I’ll reconnect with in a planned spinoff series featuring 2 secondary characters, though, so readers will have a chance to revisit all of the series characters, if only in cameo.
Even better? I’ve got a fabulous map of the Ea universe that will be part of the book! I’ll be sharing that when it’s closer to release time, but it is so cool – I can’t thank the Dreamspinner folks enough for indulging me!
Thanks, Andrew, for hosting me today! -Shira

A Hard Man is Good to Find; by Kiernan Kelly—Book Blast and Giveaway
When RJ meets Chaos, a private party stripper, it’s gloves (and everything else) off as they butt heads and other body parts on their way to becoming more than just a one-night stand.
Publisher: Torquere Press
Cover Artist: BS Clay
Excerpt:
The doorbell rang, nearly unheard over the music and laughter in the living room. RJ knew who it was; his gift to his sister had arrived. He made his way to the door to let the stripper inside.
Over six feet of brawny muscle straining at the seams of a tight pseudo-cop uniform waited on the other side of the screen door. Mirrored sunglasses hid his eyes, but not the sharp line of his jaw or the sexy scruff dusting his cheeks.
For the first time in his life, RJ was struck dumb. He stared at the man, letting his eyes travel slowly over the wide chest, narrow waist, and long, long legs. There was a bulge just below the buckle of the black leather belt that was worthy of some very deep contemplation.
The man’s voice was as sensuous as liquid velvet. “I’m from Strip-O-Grams. I’m here for Paula’s bachelorette party. Is this the right address?” The man cocked one sleek eyebrow, then used one finger to slide his sunglasses down a bit. He peered at RJ from over the rims. Dark brown. His eyes were dark brown, deep and liquid.
RJ’s face went red and his mouth dry. He was embarrassed to be caught ogling the man like an all-you-could-eat-buffet, and even more to his chagrin, his dick wasn’t embarrassed about it at all. It filled, pressing against the thin material of his slacks. Unless he cupped himself, there was no way to hide his erection.
The stripper noticed, and a brief flicker of heat scalded his gaze which only made RJ’s problem worse.
The man’s voice was sensual and deep, almost sex for the ears, and RJ’s cock heard it loud and clear. “Uh, yeah. This is it. I’m Paula’s brother, RJ.”
“Officer Chaos.”
Chaos is a perfect name, my man, because you are wreaking havoc with my self-control right now. I want to climb you like a ladder, rung by perfect rung, RJ thought, chewing on the inside of his cheek. He’d asked for a stripper dressed as a cop — a little private dig at Steven’s position on the city council — but he’d never envisioned how drop-dead sexy the costume would be, or the man who filled it so admirably.

An Interview With Alina Popescu – Author of Craving Stains: Blog Tour and Giveaway
Welcome Alina, nice to finally be the one interviewing you. Tell everyone a bit about yourself.
Hi Andy, thanks for having me here! It’s a pleasure to chat with you under any circumstances.
Let’s see… I am Romanian, born and raised here. I am addicted to coffee and the Internet. I love to travel and I love dogs. I’ve been writing all my life, my first attempt at a novel happened when I was about ten. I am a bit of a geek… Okay, a lot of a geek, and I’ve always been a bit of a tomboy. Always reading what the boys read, which I guess it’s why I’d got so into science fiction, adventures, mysteries, and fantasy.
Craving Stains is your newest release, talk about this for a bit.
Craving Stains has been quite a journey for me. Deciding to write it led to amazing things, but more importantly, amazing people. It started out as a short story for the Stranded anthology and then I worked on expanding it. It went from about 7,000 words to a little over 15,000 and that helped me explore Wynn’s world more, as well as his mother’s background.
Craving Stains is a story about being safe and protected, but having no freedom or control over your own life. Although Wynn’s case is extreme, all of us experience that sense of being stuck and having no say on what will happen next. I think that’s one of the reasons people find it easy to relate to Wynn’s emotional turmoil.
Can you tell us something interesting that is not in the blurb?
I can tell you that in the future, the mere mention of the IRS (in its new form) still terrifies everyone. They are incredibly powerful and they don’t joke around. Apparently, even if we get better at evading death, we have no such luck with taxes.
What part of the book was the most fun to write and why?
The meetings between Wynn and Doyle were the most fun to write. The black-white play, the fact that they are complete opposites, yet form a perfect unit, that made those encounters quite enjoyable for me. Neither of them has the slightest clue about what’s happening to them, yet they go along with it. The thought of challenging it, of stopping, never occurs to them.
What part made you struggle them most?
The final part. It wasn’t really a struggle (thank heavens for tight deadlines), but it was difficult for me to write. I have decided quite early on that I don’t know what happens with Wynn in the end. So I wrote it like that. I get very attached to my characters, so knowing both possibilities of my ending hurt and made me want to pull Wynn into my arms and snuggle him. The thing that helped me go through with it was the fact that, regardless of what each reader chooses as their ending, given Wynn’s circumstances, it still is a happy ending.
What else have you written?
I have released a few stories before Craving Stains. I started with two free fantasy short stories which were meant to get my name out there. One was MF, the other one was MM, both in the same Lost Angels series—Pure Love of the Fallen and Flawless Design. My debut novel was released in April 2014 and it was the first book in a vampire trilogy. The Edge of Hope has been my first real taste of publishing something and it’s been great. About six months later, the anthology version of Craving Stains was released and was soon followed by more gay romance / gay fiction works.
What’s your favorite part of the writing process?
I don’t really have a favorite part, but that moment when a story comes to life, triggered by a flicker of inspiration, I adore that.
What’s your least favorite?
Titles and blurbs. Titles more than blurbs as sometimes it takes me a really, really long time to come up with a good one. It’s either a quick process, or I struggle for years. Nope, I am not exaggerating here, The Edge of Hope took me almost three years to come up with.
Since there is always another story to tell, what are you working on now?
Right now I am in the middle of edits for Strength to Leg Go, a werewolf gay romance that will launch the Tales of the Werewolf Tribes series. It will be published in early July, right on time for Euro Pride Con in Munich. I am also working on two other series, both gay romances, Famous on the Internet and Warriors of Vis, and a standalone dark science fiction novella called Angel’s Feather. With a bit of luck, you’ll see them all released in 2015.
What have you read lately that most people haven’t read but should?
I’ve mostly read books that I wanted to review, so as they currently are or have recently been on tour, they have been in the spotlight. I am currently reading two science fiction books, Appearances by TM Smith and The Luxorian Fugitive by Mann Ramblings. I think readers in general should get out of their comfort zones a bit more. We tend to stick to a small niche within a certain genre and miss out on a whole world of amazing stories. I try to push myself to read in all genres, and I think others should do that too.
If you could meet any writer, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
Oh, that’s an easy question. Mihai Eminescu. He’s arguably the greatest poet in Romanian literature, although he’s written prose as well. To understand why, think of a manlier, darker, more brooding version of a genius such as Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory. Only Eminescy was really good at getting women to fall at his feet. I think I would have been his biggest fangirl if I were born in the same period as him. It would have required me to invent fangirling, but I thing I could have pulled it off.
Besides reading and writing, what else do you enjoy?
I love going to the movies and I love traveling. I am pretty outdoorsy, so a quick trip to the mountains is always a great idea. I used to have a lot more hobbies, but unfortunately, I rarely have time for more than the occasional outing with my friends and one or two road trips abroad every year. I usually tend to combine those with work anyway.
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
I think the one thing I feel I haven’t said enough is how grateful I am for every reader who’s picked up one of my stories. I feel particularly happy when they happen to enjoy what I’ve written, but I am still thankful for every reader who decides to invest time and money in my books.
Thanks for having me here today, Andrew. It’s been great fun answering your questions!

Book Trailer
Excerpt:
WYNN woke up with a start, splayed on his living room floor, gulping for air and feeling hot, sticky fluid all over his boxer briefs. “God damn it! If felt so real,” he yelled, a fresh wave of tears washing his face. He dragged himself to the bathroom and shed all his clothes.
Before throwing it into the laundry bin, he smelled his T-shirt. It held a trace of spicy cologne and male. Wynn’s hand flew to his mouth, covering the gasp. No, it was impossible, his brain was just making up scents that weren’t there. He threw it away with a huff, removed his now very sticky boxers, and went into the shower room, turning on the water and all the cleansing agents his mother insisted were added to the mix.
He massaged his body carefully, relaxing his muscles, tight and a little sore from sleeping on the floor. Every touch seemed to bring his body to life, more than ever before. Within minutes, he was panting, hard as a rock, and clear fluid dripped from the tip of his cock. He closed his fingers around the base of his shaft and started stroking lightly, tip to bottom and back again, just how he liked it.
“Doctor Miller is here for an unscheduled medical visit,” the central computerized system announced, the metallic voice making Wynn jump. He groaned, pushing down his frustration and turning the water to ice cold. He rushed through the rest of his shower and dried off quickly, walking into his bedroom to put on a pair of white sweats and a loose hoodie of the same color.
“What are you doing here, Doctor?” he asked in a sharp tone, not bothering with any niceties. “You shouldn’t be here for a few more days.”
The good doctor gave him an understanding smile and a nod, getting right on Wynn’s nerves. “Your mother ordered an emergency checkup. I hear you were not feeling well yesterday,” he explained in a honeyed voice, smiling as he took out scanners and other gadgets from his bag.
“I was angry she broke her promise again. I am perfectly healthy, and you should just pack your bag and get out,” Wynn said in an even voice, plopping down on a chair and eyeing the doctor with murderous intent.
“Your mother decides these things, not I.” The doctor shrugged and continued to arrange everything. Wynn stood as non-threateningly as he could, walked to the coffee table now filled with medical instruments, picked up a scanner, and threw it. He laughed as he watched it break into dozens of pieces against the thick glass of his window wall. The light buzzing of the maid bot hover propulsion was the only sound in the suddenly quiet room. Maud cleaned everything quickly and retreated to the kitchen.
“Doctor, unless you want me to break your stuff, all of it, and then punch you in the face, I suggest you pack up your bag and get out of my house.” Wynn turned swiftly and walked back into his room, giving the door a strong push to make sure it was loud when it closed behind him. He leaned against it, sticking his ear to the wood, listening for the sounds in the living room. Without a word, the doctor did as instructed.

Dating for Deafies; by Nikka Michaels
Nikka Michaels is stopping by today with her latest short story, Dating for Deafies. I had the chance to read this as past of the Stranded Anthology from Wayward Ink Publishing, and it was one of my favorites in the anthology. So take a moment, read up a bit and go buy the book—at $1.99, you really can’t go wrong.
Blurb:
*Originally appeared in Stranded anthology.
If Evan York keeps hiding from the world behind his laptop he might miss out on something special.
Will he find the courage to try something new?
EXCERPT:
Evan’s phone vibrated insistently in his pocket. He silenced it as he walked down the short hallway. When his eye caught the flash of movement on a collision course, he braced his body for impact. Six feet plus of male sent Evan stumbling a step backward as a low breath left his lips. Strong hands steadied him as Evan gripped the man’s leanly muscled forearms.
Evan sucked in a lungful of the delicious scent of coffee, spicy aftershave or cologne, and something masculine. The worried face of Tristan Gaines stared at him, and Evan felt his face flush. After feeling Tristan’s hard body pressed against his, he wanted more than just teasing emails. He wanted to taste how Tristan’s mouth and coffee blended together on his tongue. He wanted to watch those green eyes darken with lust. He wanted to feel the vibration of the man’s moans under his hand as he kissed down his stomach. He wanted Tristan.

An Interview with Tali Spencer
It’s been a few weeks since I had my last Tuesday Interview, but what better way to restart than with one of my favorite authors, Tali Spencer. Talk is one of my ‘go to people’ when I have questions about writing, publishing, and fantasy. She’s a multi-published award winning author and if you’ve not read her books, you really need to find out what you’re missing.
Welcome back Tali. Since it’s been a while, why don’t you tell everyone a bit about yourself.
I think I’m a pretty ordinary human being. No one would pick me out in a crowd. I enjoy the usual things: good food, good books, spending time with friends and family. But I’m also introspective and kind of solitary, I like my alone time. What I never am, though, is bored. Never. I think that’s because for my entire life I’ve carried around all these other worlds and people and stories inside my head.
So far I’ve written dozens of books and I plan on writing dozens more.
I’m a fan of the Pride of Uttor series. Captive Heart was M/F, but Dangerous Beauty is MM. I understand there are two more in the series, Can you talk a bit about the series in general and what’s next?
The Uttor series is fantasy that follows the destinies of two families. The emperor of Uttor conquers Sebboy after one of the latter country’s princes kidnaps his sister. The series follows the Sebboyan royal family as the various princes and princesses find danger and romance in their new lives as imperial captives.
The next book, Adored, is scheduled for release in June. That book is MF and has—get this—a pregnant heroine. Can a hunky hero fall in love with an intelligent, outspoken woman who is clearly not a virgin?
It will be followed in the fall by Victory Portrait, a MM novel about Peta, the youngest prince, now a slave and bound over to an artist charged with painting the portrait of his country’s conqueror—Darius Arrento. Peta has idolized the Uttoran general for years, but the general has hated royal princes for far longer.
Your Don’t Read in the Closet entry last year, The Last Cannoli, was one of my favorite MM stories of the year. Are we going to see more stories like that from you?
That was such a fun story to write! I have to thank Gillian St. Kevern again for that great prompt. What’s not to love about cannoli and Italian-American families? I have a continuation of that story in mind; it involves Wisconsin and a cruise ship.
I have a few other contemporary stories like that I want to write. Contemporaries scare me, though. When I write fantasy, none of my family calls up to ask if I wrote about them!
So let’s talk Thick as Thieves. Unicorn horn soap and all. Tell us about that book and what’s next.
Thick as Thieves it sword and sorcery with a fun MM twist. It was another fun book to write. Vorgell the barbarian uses a unicorn’s horn in a way unicorn horns are never meant to be used and ends up in a state of almost perpetual lust. He becomes smitten with a pretty male witch and agrees to help him. Romance and adventure ensues.
They have another adventure coming up in Thick as Ice. I hit health problems and a snag while writing it, but I should have news on that book shortly.
What else are you working on that you can talk about?
I have an epic fantasy series fully written that I’m just starting to shop around. It’s about two young men—one of whom is possibly destined to become a god—but who at the moment only want to kill each other. And they might just succeed.
I have a series of novels set on an alien world where the native males die immediately upon completing the sexual act—but human men don’t, which makes them rather useful.
Also, I am dying to write historical fantasy set in Colonial Peru. I spent a lot of time in Bolivia and the stories of that region really speak to me. A portion of the story is free on my blog for anyone interested.
What’s your favorite part of the writing process?
The creative part, just letting the story flow. I love when something or someone unexpected happens along.
What’s your least favorite?
Does marketing count? {Absolutely it counts! Umm, sorry please continue.} It’s the end game of writing. I hate putting my work out there and then hawking it. I love holding giveaways and writing blog posts, I do lots of those… but I dread contacting people and asking them to read my book.
What have you read lately that most people haven’t read but should?
Honestly? The life-changing magic of tidying up: the Japanese art of decluttering and organizing, by Marie Kondo. Hey, you asked! LOL Because seriously, this book changed my life. My guiding principle since reading it: Does this (person, thing, activity) spark joy? It really helps to examine our relationships, whether with people or our socks.
If you could meet any writer, alive or dead, who would it be and why?
MA Church. We’ve talked on the phone and are good friends, but I would love to meet her in person. She’s very interesting—funny, smart, and absolutely delightful.
Besides reading and writing, what else do you enjoy?
A game called Pandemic. My husband and I play it all the time—sometimes we save the world from a gazillion plagues, though sometimes the world comes to a putrid end. I love going to the theater; we have season tickets to the Walnut Street Theater in Philadelphia where I live. Going to concerts is always fun, too. Bring on the live performances! Oh, and I love taking cruises! I am a water sign, after all.
Last question is all yours – feel free to talk about anything you want your readers to know about you, your book, anything at all.
As a writer, I’m most comfortable not letting my ego follow my books out the door. I learned this lesson after my first novel was published back when I was a baby writer. I thought it would be fun to hang out at Barnes and Noble and watch people buy my book. I think a hundred people picked it up and looked at it and only one person carried it to the cashier. Lesson: Don’t watch readers. They won’t do what you want them to do. LOL
That same lesson also taught me to love the readers I have. When I meet one, I’m thrilled beyond words. They’re why I write my stories down and why I put them out in public.
About The Author:
Tali Spencer fell in love with writing at an early age and never stopped, though she took a lot of detours. It’s not unusual to find her daydreaming at a window or sitting in the corner of a busy room, people-watching and scribbling character tips in a notebook.
Thanks to a restless father, Tali grew up as a bit of a nomad. You may have gone to school with her if you lived in Virginia, California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Texas, or Wisconsin. It was during this time she developed her superpower sense of direction and love of diverse landscapes, people, and cultures. As a young adult she spent a lot of time in Bolivia and deeply loves the people and cultures of South America. Her longest stint in one place was Milwaukee where she went to college, enjoyed a series of interesting careers, and raised three surprisingly well-adjusted sons. She still loves to travel whenever she can. She married her second husband on a cruise ship and they love to cruise whenever they can, hoping one day to cruise around the world.
Since marrying her true love, Tali has put down new roots in Philadelphia, where she lives in an ongoing Italian American family sitcom. At least she’s learned how to make her own gravy and pasta. When not writing, Tali reads everything from sweet goofy romances to medical research, manages her fantasy football team—go Gekkos!—and takes long walks with her loving, if slightly neurotic, poodle.

John’s warm hands cupped his face, brushed down his neck as kisses caressed his lips.
“Blake, c’mon, don’t be like this. Give us a shot, won’t you?”
He pushed the hands away as gently as he could while firm in his resolve. “I’m a bull rider, John. I’m on the road more than half the time. I ain’t got room for a relationship. I told you last night, this was a one-time thing, unless you wanna screw around when I’m in town.”
John tightened his lips and jerked away, then got out of bed to pull on crumpled jeans and a tee.
“Don’t get pissy like this. I told you how it was.”
“I just — You’ve got a fuckin’ sweet mouth when you want one is all.”
“It’d be lonely on the road without it.”
John snorted, grabbed his hat from the floor, and dusted off imaginary dirt. “Well, I hope it serves you well, Blake Forrester. ‘Cause this is one fan who won’t worry when you get thrown.”
