“Get it Done Little by Little”–Novella Done

So, first things: good news. I’ve finished, proofed and reviewed by comedy-horror novella. In fact, I’ve just sent it off to a publisher. We’ll see what happens next. There’s not a HUGE market out there for comedy horror, but I’m hopeful.

In other news, I keep on trucking on. I’m getting some good feedback from my other stories and I’ll share things as they develop. I’ll also get back to some of the personal news that’s been getting me down lately in posts to come.

Right now though, I’m outsid...

Proofing and Polishing—While Life Sucks

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks. I don’t want to get into the reasons why right now, which I’ll save for a longer post later. Suffice to say, personally, things have been up and down lately with more focus on the DOWN. Anyway, I’m soldiering on with the writing. proofreading-marking-critiquing

I’ve got back the manuscript of my comedy-horror novella from my proofreader and I’m going through it now. It looks tight and good so far, so I’m pretty pleased. It’s just tough trying to keep motivated right at the moment. I don’t...

The Eagle Has Landed: My first published story sees the light of day

dariusjones:

Sometimes, people ask me what they can do to support Literature, writing, new writers, etc. One of the best and simplest ways is to buy their stories and support the magazines that publish new writers. So, it turns out this is your lucky day. Kenneth Jobe recently published his 1st piece (ever!) on The Rusty Nail Literary Journal. See his post below for more details. Then, go over to the Rusty Nail’s site or Amazon and buy the issue. And for extra, bonus points and much gratitude...

Off to the North Woods

Hey everybody, I’m going offline for the next week or so. I will be completely out of cell-phone contact and mostly out of Internet contact. Praise be to the Old Gods and Chthonic Muses! That means no posts, Tweets, etc. Things will be quiet and I need that for awhile. North Woods so Inviting

The good news is that the writing is coming along well. Frankly, I’m at a good breaking point. Here’s a quick breakdown:

“AFTA” – My comedy-horror novella is pretty much wrapped and ready to submit. I just got it back from the p...

Just a quick note here, not a post really. Crazy Ash

A Quick Update on My Writing

Today, just a quick update before I dive back into my writing. I just want to check in and let you guys know what I’m working on. Cafe Writers

So, this is what’s up:

Jamming on horror comedy novella
The main thing I’m working on right now is FINISHING my comedy horror novella, “AFTA.” Everything is taking a back seat to this. I’ve been pushing off some juicy, tempting short story ideas just to finish editing this and get it off to the proofer. Once I get it back from her, I will do a post announcing it….FI...

Writing, writing, writing

Busy life, busy writing. My ‘real’ job was CRAZY this week and I’m doing some writer’s group stuff for friends this weekend. So, no time to blog. I will get back to it when I get chance. As of right now, I don’t see having time for the next couple of weeks. But if I do have time to come up for air, I will put up a longer post.

The good news? I’m jamming to finish my latest manuscript (AFTA, my comedy horror novella) and will get back to the blog as soon as I can.

For up-to-date progress, chec...

Back to the Writing

Sit tight, everybody. I finally escaped Vegas and after two weeks off (the other weekend was for RavenCon), I’m back to writing today. That means, I’m not able to blog right now.

It sucks, I know. But, it’s for a good cause: wrapping up editing on my comedy-horror novella. I’m going to keep going until I crush this one. Then, see if I can find a home for it.

Wish me luck. Look for a new post next week.

Couldn’t leave you guys totally empty handed. This performance blew me away. What kind of...

The Craft: Write What You Love

[This is part of a continuing series on the art of writing fiction.]

Why do you write?

Every writer has his reasons. I write because I have to. I have a void within me that can only be filled by writing. (And for those of you who are wondering, yes, I stole that vaguely sexual idea from a misattributed Pascal quote.) I 4th_Bn_Royal_Fusiliers_22_August_1914tried to deny it for years, pretend it didn’t exist, but it never went away. And now that I’m back writing fiction again, everything is just fine.

I’ve talked a lot about techn...

See You At RavenCon!

This weekend, I’m heading to RavenCon in Richmond, Virginia. It will be my first Con, so I’m quite excited.

RavenCon

If you’re there and trying to track me down, look for me in some of the writing workshops or writing-themed gatherings. I’ll be the guy named Darius somewhere near the back of the room (my normal habit). I will also try to follow these suggestions for first time Con goers who happen to be writers.

I’m finishing up work stuff before I head out, so I don’t have time for a longer post. I m...
